After starting off on a decent note, the movie has been experiencing a consistent decline in collections, with its Day 8 earnings being one of the lowest since its release.

As per trade estimates by Sacnilk, Hari Hara Veera Mallu collected Rs 35 lakhs on Thursday, July 31, marking a big drop in daily collections. The film, which had a promising weekend initially, has seen a downward trend since Day 5. As on day 5, it collected over Rs 2.1 crore, on day 6 and 7 it made Rs 1.75 crore and Rs 1.3 crore respectively, and later minted over Rs 35 crore. With this, the film's total collection currently stands at approximately Rs 80.75 crore.
Theatre occupancy
The occupancy levels also reflect the decline in audience turnout. The overall Telugu occupancy on Day 8 was just 13.29%. Morning shows saw 13.19% attendance, while afternoon and evening shows recorded 12.92% and 13.59%, respectively. Night shows slightly improved with 13.47%, but the numbers remained on the lower end throughout the day.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A film policy that ensures gender equality, addresses issues of junior artists and promotes independent cinema was what the state government promised as the two-day Kerala Film Policy Conclave organised by the culture department came to a close in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Culture Minister Saji Cherian said the state policy will ensure complete safety and gender equality for men and women working at shooting locations, and addresss the issues of junior artists' regarding wages, working hours and basic facilities. 'Since cinema is a form of employment, labour laws are applicable to everyone in the industry. The government will ensure job security for all in the film field. It will roll out e-ticketing in theatres this year, and has allocated Rs 5 crore for implementation,' Cherian said while presenting his report. He said the policy will not just address cinema, but also include television. 'A reworked version of the POSH Act for the film industry was released as a booklet during the conclave. We have taken two or three meaningful steps to secure a better future for Malayalam cinema. There is still a long way to go,' he said. The film policy will ensure independent films are screened at least once in government theatres. The state will explore ways to offer subsidies to such films. Permissions for film shoots will be streamlined via a single-window clearance system.

Junior artists are often arranged by coordinators through such agents, Hari said 'We are often allotted up to Rs 1,500, but end up getting just Rs 500-600,' he said. 'We have our disagreements with the initial policy framework forwarded by the government, which empowers these agents,' MAAK president Shaijunath P said. The plight of female junior artists is even more pathetic, said Shobhana Sundaran, an artist from Thrissur. 'For female artists, a clean toilet is more important than food, which is not available on many sets,' she said. Adding that many continue to work as junior artists despite challenges due to lack of other work opportunities, she said that though they are often hired by trustworthy people, the situation, more often than not, ends up going south. 'While shooting of L2: Empuraan, we were left stranded at midnight without proper accommodation. It was arranged after several hours,' she said. The film policy, which the government is looking to roll out within two months, is expected to address their issues as well. Meanwhile, Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA)officials refuted the claims. 'We provide food on film sets based solely on head count, without any discrimination,' FEFKA Production Executives' Union joint secretary Shaji Pattikkara told TNIE, adding that it is impractical not to assign agents for access to junior artists.

At the heart of the standoff is the federation's demand for a 30 per cent hike in daily wages. Representing 24 categories of film workers, the federation has pointed to stagnant pay scales over the past three years as a major concern, stating it has severely impacted the livelihoods of more than 10,000 daily wage workers. A former general secretary of the federation noted that daily wages have remained unchanged despite the rising cost of living in Hyderabad. Additionally, workers have demanded more timely disbursal of wages, calling for a shift from delayed payments to daily settlements. 'Our workers will not report to duty from tomorrow," a federation representative confirmed, asserting that the decision followed exhaustive efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue. The strike decision was formalised during a meeting of the federation's executive committee held on Sunday. The federation has taken a firm stance, announcing that film shoots will only resume if producers provide written assurances agreeing to the revised pay structure. Talks between the Telugu Film Producers Council, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, and the federation have reportedly been ongoing for several months. Producers had earlier proposed a 5 per cent wage increase, which the federation rejected as inadequate. Producer C Kalyan, while opposing the strike, acknowledged its potential impact. He described the strike as a 'pressure tactic" but added, 'A month-long production halt could hurt the very daily wage workers they're trying to support." He urged both sides to return to negotiations and find a middle ground. The outcome of the strike remains uncertain.
