EC becoming Modi's Commission, says RJD's Tejashwi Yadav as poll panel postpones meet on SIR
The RJD leader also claimed that the Narendra Modi-led Centre will impose President's rule in the state to consolidate power.
Attacking the poll panel for not clarifying the doubts of political parties, Yadav told ANI, 'Two days after the (SIR) notification itself, we have asked the Election Commission that our mahagathbandan, the alliance, wants to meet with you, a delegation wants to meet with you. Though the sad thing that in the state in which elections will happen, if Opposition wants to meet with Election Commission to raise doubts for clarity but Election Commission not giving a time for meeting itself.'
The remarks of Yadav were made on the day ECI was supposed to meet a multi party delegation to talk about the SIR exercise, however that meeting had been postponed.
One President's rule, the former deputy Chief Minister claimed, 'I feel that they will impose President's rule, in the coming months there is a big conspiracy, Modi will impose president's rule and take it all in his hands. It is such a big issue that voting rights are being taken away and EC is not meeting, what else do we do? Where is justice? This is injustice,' he added.
The RJD leader also claimed that voting rights being allegedly taken away is just the first step, with the BJP coming for people's pensions and rations later on.
'It looks like the Election Commission has become Modi's, BJP's Commission, and BJP, Nitish Kumar is silent on this. They are losing the elections by votes so EC is helping them from the back. When they lose, first they cut votes of poor, then pension, after that ration. Modi ji will eat all that up. Voting is a right in a Constitutional democracy, and that too you are taking that way,' he added.
Dismissing the plan for implementing One Nation One Election, Yadav said that the poll panel has already shown how it is not able to conduct an election in one state properly.
'They talk about One Nation One Election, but you can't even organise an election in one state properly, cheating happens. It has been made perfectly clear that there is a conspiracy...'
Earlier on July 1, the ECI postponed a scheduled meeting with a multi-party delegation which was supposed to take place today, regarding theSpecial Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar. The Commission claimed that the meeting was postponed due to 'lack of confirmation' from the participating political parties,' sources said.
Claiming to represent multiple political parties in the matter, the meeting was initially requested by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), via an email on June 30, EC sources said.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has affirmed that the main objective of the SIR is to avoid any 'illegible' voter and ensure that no one is left out of the voter list.
'The objective of SIR is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out, and at the same time, no ineligible voter is included in the Electoral Roll,' the CEC said in a statement.
The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to take place at the end of this year. (ANI)

At first, Indian officials did consider the proposal, but eventually turned it conveyed its position to the US, making it clear that it was not interested in off-the-shelf defence acquisitions. Instead, the focus is on co-developing and co-producing defence equipment in India, aligning with the country's long-running Make in India reported that 'the Modi government is unlikely to approve any major new defence deals with the US in the near future.' The US Defence Department has not publicly commented. India's Ministry of Defence also declined to respond to Bloomberg's request. Economic Times could not independently verify these claims. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump launched a direct attack on India's trade policies. The Tejas programme, aimed at delivering a fourth-generation fighter, has taken decades and only delivered around 38 aircraft, 17 of which are prototypes. Its limited combat performance has restricted export potential and slowed mass production. Without foreign collaboration, developing a fifth-generation fighter remains out of reach. For now, India is looking to France. By 2028, it plans to begin manufacturing fuselages for Rafale jets at a rate of up to two units per month. That's a long regional security challenges are growing. China has accelerated the production and export of next-gen fighter aircraft. Pakistan, meanwhile, has started inducting new fighters from China, gradually upgrading its air force this context, some experts believe India may still turn to Russia's Su-57, the only other fifth-generation option available. Rahul to protest 'theft of votes' at Freedom Park
Bengaluru: Top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will lead the party's protest meeting at the Freedom Park here on August 5, against the alleged incidents of 'theft of votes', Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Thursday. Following the protest, a select group of party leaders will go to the Election Commission office here and submit a memorandum. Amid the raging row over the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, had alleged that elections were being 'stolen' in the country and that his party had figured out the modus operandi of the 'votes' theft' by studying a parliamentary constituency in Karnataka. 'On August 5, we are organising a protest meeting. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, myself, AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, all our Ministers, legislators have discussed on how and where to organise it. It is the opinion of everyone that we organise this protest meeting at the Freedom Park,' Shivakumar said. Speaking to reporters, he said a memorandum will be submitted to the EC officials in the state. 'We will organise this protest within the framework of law and rules laid down, abiding by the directions of the court. We will not violate. We don't want to disturb anyone,' he said, as he called on the party workers and leaders from across the state to participate in the protest. Shivakumar, along with Surjewala and other leaders, held deliberations regarding the nature of the protest and the venue, considering 'technical issues' and court directives for holding such events in the city. Later they inspected the protest meeting venue -- Freedom Park. Clarifying that there won't be any mega foot march, the KPCC chief said, 'we will gather at the Freedom Park and after the protest meeting and address by leaders, a select five to six leaders will go to the Election Commission office here and submit a memorandum.' Asked if the leaders, who will submit the memorandum, would march to the EC office from Freedom Park, he said, 'we may go by foot or by vehicle, we will abide by the police instructions based on the situation.' Noting that there were lots of examples for 'votes theft', and the Congress had done research on this, Shivakumar said. 'Our leader (Rahul Gandhi) will inform you about all this.' 'This protest is to safeguard -- the right to vote, the Constitution and the democracy,' he said, adding, Rahul Gandhi was coming for this cause, despite the Parliament session. 'We had earlier identified several faults (in the election process) during the Assembly elections and then during the parliament polls. We are doing this protest to inform people about it,' he added. Responding to BJP's questions as to why the Congress did not approach the Election Commission when the draft rolls were issued, Shivakumar said, 'We had objected but the Election Commission did not accept it. In Mahadevapura constituency, Congress candidate Nagesh and his son produced documents. The same thing happened in Dinesh Gundu Rao's constituency in Gandhinagar, where around 7,000 voters were added in one are so many examples. We have documents to prove...'
