Major Marvel star says that she won't be appearing in the next two Avengers movies
Elizabeth Olsen has appeared to confirm that she won't be involved in the next two Avengers movies, which are set to start filming back-to-back in London imminently.
Olsen plays Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was last seen as the prime antagonist in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Given that the conclusion to that film left Wanda's story open-ended it was assumed that she would be returning in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, due for release in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
However, Olsen has potentially dashed the hopes of fans longing to see her in those films after The Hollywood Reporter asked her if the Russo Brothers are going to be extending [her] stay" in London.
The 36-year-old coyly replied: 'No, I'm back [in the States]. I just finished [ Panic Carefully ]. I'm moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters ].'
Olsen has played Maximoff in six different Marvel films to date, with her first being 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She was the lead star of 2021's WandaVision, which has been the most positively received Marvel television series to date.
Only Robert Downey Jr has been officially announced for Avengers: Doomsday so far. He is controversially returning to the MCU to play Doctor Doom.
The Oppenheimer star surprised crowds at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday 27 July as he was dramatically unveiled in the new role during a Marvel panel.
Stepping forward from a line of similarly masked figures on stage, Downey Jr pulled off his silver mask to an ecstatic reaction from the crowd.
'New mask, same task,' he triumphantly declared after it was announced that he would be playing Doctor Doom in the forthcoming Avengers instalment.
Joe and Anthony Russo previously directed some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe 's most popular and highest-grossing films like Endgame, which made $2.79bn worldwide.
In a new interview, Joe Russo said that it was Marvel CEO Kevin Feige's idea to bring Downey back as Doctor Doom after his heroic death as Iron Man in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
'That was Kevin,' he told Omelete. 'Interestingly enough about that, that conversation was had a while ago.'
'Robert [Downey Jr] tried to talk us into doing it and we said, 'No.' We just didn't have a story. We didn't have a way in, right? We were resistant for a while.'
'And then one day [ Endgame writer] Steve McFeely, who's one of our key collaborators, said, 'I have an idea.' And we went, 'That's the story. That story has to be told. It's a really powerful story.''

In a candid new interview, the Pulp Fiction actor opened up about the moment he was 'dragged by a subway train' when he was younger, sharing that he never got the sensation of his life flashing before his eyes. 'I could see the tunnel coming, and I couldn't figure out anything that I could grab or hold on to and get close to the train so I wouldn't get killed in the tunnel. 'It just slowed down really, really slow until all of a sudden the train stopped.' Shedding light on his mindset during that moment, Samuel admitted that he was focused on the incident ruining Christmas for his loved ones – including wife LaTonya Richardson and their daughter, Zoe. 'When I was being dragged, all I could think of was, it was going to be a really sad Christmas, because it was like a few days before Christmas,' the Marvel legend continued. 'So I was going to miss my birthday and all that. I was like, 'Damn, it's going to be f**ked up. It's going to be a f**ked up Christmas this year.'' The Django Unchained star was heavily injured in the accident, and tore his ACL and meniscus – he was in physical therapy for over a year and spent 10 months on crutches. He later took legal action and sued the transit system, and was eventually awarded $540k. More Trending It was only when he got to court for a hearing that he learned what happened that day, and that a man rushed to action and saved his life. 'I was a car-and-a-half from the tunnel when it stopped,' he added to Paloma. 'The guy who pulled the emergency cord was on crutches. 'Everybody else in there was trying to open the door, get my foot out the door, push and push and pull and try and take my shoe off. And he was going to the emergency cord, and he finally pulled it and stopped it. 'Things slow down when you're looking at death. I've been in car accidents and if I see them, it's almost like everything is slowing down and you know there's nothing you can do to get out of the way.' Got a story? Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, co-stars of the blockbuster movie Deadpool & Wolverine, have announced they are embarking on a new sporting venture together Deadpool & Wolverine co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have teamed up as part of a new sporting partnership. The Hollywood actors achieved a big hit on the silver screen with last summer's Marvel blockbuster, raking in around £958million at the box office globally. It's now been announced that the pair have embarked on a new venture together as the owners of an Australian sailing team called the BONDS Flying Roos. The contest was launched in 2019 by three-time Olympic gold champion Russell Coutts and American billionaire Larry Ellison, and has quickly achieved a high profile in the world of sailing. Reynolds and Jackman have been friends for a long time after first meeting on the set of the 2009 flick X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds is already involved with several sports teams, and most notably co-owns Welsh football club Wrexham alongside Rob McElhenney. The duo also have stakes in Mexico's Club Necaxa and Colombia's La Equidad, as well as the Formula 1 team Alpine. However, it represents Jackman's first dabble in the sporting arena, as he and Reynolds joins the likes of German F1 legend Sebastian Vettel and former world boxing champion Deontay Wilder in investing in SailGP teams. In a joint statement, Reynolds and Jackman said: "We're incredibly excited to set sail together in this new adventure. Box-office bomb set to hit streamers after major controversy and scandal

It was meant to be the jewel in Disney's remake crown and modernise the beloved classic – but Snow White has been a poisoned apple from the start. While critics largely praised leading lady Rachel Zegler as 'enchanting', the scandal that surrounded the release overtook any positives about the film itself. Problems seemed to be coming from all angles, with Disney reportedly rolling back the scale of their London premiere in response to the backlash. When it hit cinemas in March, the box office clawed back $205.5million – impressive until you consider the budget was around $270million. If you loved the film the first time around or are morbidly curious about it after all the drama, Snow White will reach its final resting place on Disney Plus on June 11, 2025. With just 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, the remake may have even stopped the controversial live-action remake push from Disney (not in time to pull Lilo and Stitch, though). After the mixed response, Tangled has 'been put on pause', according to insiders speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. Moana, set for release on July 10, 2026, is still thought to be in the works as one of Disney's biggest animated hits of recent years. Disney was facing pushback from fans as its slate appeared to be overwhelmingly focused on these remakes, with some even boycotting. However, Snow White was hit was even more controversy than the others – until maybe the bizarre choices made for the recently released Lilo and Stitch. First came the complaints that Rachel, 24, was a 'woke' casting choice given her Colombian heritage, echoing similar (distasteful) sentiments voiced over Halle Bailey's Ariel. The West Side Story star may have proved those naysayers wrong but this was just the start of the problems. Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage then branded the studio 'backwards' for still making a 'story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together'. Peter, 55, has a common form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia and asked Disney to 'take a step back and look at what you're doing'. As well as dropping half the film's original title, director Marc Webb opted to portray the characters using CGI – which was pulled apart when the Seven Dwarfs were first unveiled in the movie's teaser trailer – after erroneous reports that Disney would be using diverse 'magical creatures' instead. Pro-wrestler Hornswoggle, 39, as well as other actors, said ultimately the decision was detrimental to their careers as the roles would have traditionally gone to seven actors with the condition. Then came the girl boss-ification of Snow White herself – a common move in all the live-action remakes but garnered extra heat for Rachel. Snow White was 'not going to be dreaming about true love' anymore and rather 'becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true'. Fans slammed Disney (and its leading lady) for the outdated feminism, which many felt turned its back on the core of who Snow White is in the original 1937 film. More Trending Finally, there was the boycott over the casting of Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress who has publicly advocated for Israel over the years. She has stated that 'killing innocent Palestinians is horrific', but mostly her public posts are about Israeli hostages, while Rachel was criticised for her support of Palestine. After an incredibly messy road to get here, Snow White's release was quickly forgotten in the wake of other remake missteps. Snow White will be available to watch on Disney Plus from June 11.
