Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix Deal Isn't Being Renewed

This morning, a Hollywood insider confirmed to People that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's 2020 Netflix deal, worth a reported $100 million, isn't being renewed when their contract ends in September. The source said it reflects a 'shift in Netflix's broader business strategy.'
People noted that The Sun was the first to report the news. The British tabloid wrote that the decision was mutual. The couple had three major projects with the streamer: their documentary series Harry & Meghan, Meghan's lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, and Harry's polo documentary series Polo. Harry & Meghan became Netflix's highest-viewed documentary when it premiered, with over 28 million households watching the first part in December 2022.
Harry and Meghan's other two projects had fewer views. The first season of Meghan's lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, has had 5.3 million views so far, according to Netflix's July 17 Engagement Report, which tracks content performance for the first half of 2025. It ranked 383rd on the list of most watched programming.
Harry's series Polo, which came out in December, was much further down in 3,436th place with 500,000 views.
A source told The Sun that as Meghan, Harry, and Netflix part ways, 'there's no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course.'
The insider explained, 'The deal is done; no more shows will be made. Netflix feel they've got all they can from the couple. Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series [Harry & Meghan], and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair. They're not unhappy with how things turned out—they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time.'
Netflix and Meghan will do more business together, however: The streaming company will air the second season of With Love, Meghan this fall. Netflix has also partnered with her on her lifestyle brand, As Ever, which has consistently sold out whenever Meghan releases new product drops.

Not only is a new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility in the works, but Pride and Prejudice is also getting the remake treatment. Written by bestselling author Dolly Alderton (Good Material) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), the classic novel is officially coming to Netflix. Here's everything we know about the six-part limited series. Pride and Prejudice will be based on the 1813 novel by Jane Austen. The story, previously adapted for the screen in the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, follows the complex romance between a young woman named Elizabeth Bennet and a wealthy man, Mr. Darcy. The new Netflix series assures a 'faithful' adaptation of Austen's book. Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, The Crown) will play Elizabeth Bennet. Corrin will also serve as an executive producer for the series. Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Dunkirk) will portray Mr. Darcy, and Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) will star as Elizabeth's mother, Mrs. Bennet. 'Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,' Corrin told Netflix's Tudum. 'To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly's phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can't wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.' Other cast members include Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor (Industry) as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper) as Lydia Bennet, Louis Partridge (Disclaimer) as Mr. Wickham, Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag) as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) as Mr. Bingley, Siena Kelly (Black Mirror) as Caroline Bingley, Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery as Mary and Kitty Bennet, respectively. Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb, and Isabella Sermon round out the cast. Production is currently underway in the U.K., and a release date for the six-part limited series hasn't been revealed yet.
