Time Ripe For Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis To Reshuffle Cabinet: Team Uddhav

NDTV6 days ago
Mumbai:
Shiv Sena (UBT) on Tuesday said it was time for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to reshuffle his cabinet and shunt out five to six ministers who have been linked to various controversies, including "playing rummy, taking bribes and getting caught in a honey trap".
The Thackeray camp in the party's mouthpiece 'Saamana' editorial claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reportedly perturbed over these incidents, and has given clear instructions to take stern action in this regard. It further said that the time has come for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to reshuffle his cabinet by dropping five to six ministers locked in various controversies.
Shiv Sena (UBT) said, 'There are many different types of people in the Maharashtra cabinet. One minister is playing rummy in the Assembly, another is showing off bag full of cash and smoking cigarettes, a third minister is sitting next to Fadnavis after digesting the murder of his girlfriend, a fourth minister is trying to escape from the honey trap of Nashik and a fifth minister is himself caught in the honey trap while trapping others.' The editorial has raised questions over the ethics and morality of some ministers in the government due to their misconduct.
The editorial takes a swipe at CM Fadnavis, saying that the government led by him is a strong advocate of Hindutva, and therefore, before coming to power, he must have taken a good look at the 'Panchang (Hindu almanack or calendar)'. 'Some people in the government even entered power by performing 'Aghori puja (rituals to invoke deities and make offerings)' at the Kamakhya temple in Assam, but all of them seem to have missed the right time. Looking at the way the ministers' actions, the cabinet will soon have to be reshuffled by kicking out five to six ministers, sending them home.
Thackeray camp said the names of such ministers are being discussed in political circles. 'Ministers Sanjay Shirsat, Yogesh Kadam, Manik Kokate, Dada Bhuse, Sanjay Rathod and also some of the five other ministers trapped in the 'honey trap' of Nashik, will have to go. Home Minister Amit Shah has given such clear instructions in this regard,' added the editorial.
Further, the editorial has alleged the involvement of some BJP ministers in the honey trap. The party chose to level these charges even after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the state Assembly last week said that there was no honey trap. He also asked the opposition not to target the government with weak arguments and loose evidence; instead, come out with solid information and proof.
"The police are trying to find CDs and pen drives in the honey trap case as the secrets of the ministers in the current government are hidden in them," claimed the editorial.

Over 10 Lakh Job Seekers In Madhya Pradesh From Other Backward Classes

Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, the weight of unemployment is heaviest among Other Backward Classes (OBCs), who form the largest group of job-seekers in the state. Of the over 25 lakh youth registered on the state's employment portal, more than 10.46 lakh belong to the OBC category, by far the highest among all social groups. This includes 5.73 lakh men and 4.72 lakh women. The startling data, revealed in response to Assembly questions raised by Congress MLAs Atif Aqeel and Sanjay Uikey, paints a bleak picture of youth employment in Madhya Pradesh. Despite the government's claim of a marginal 0.56% drop in the number of unemployed, equivalent to 48,624 fewer registrations compared to seven months ago. The government now refers to the unemployed as "Aspiring Youth," a cosmetic change in nomenclature that offers little solace to those struggling to find work. The total number of such 'aspiring' individuals is a staggering 25,68,321. Even more telling is the category-wise breakdown: 4.69 lakh Scheduled Castes (SC), 4.18 lakh Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 6.34 lakh from the General category, with OBC youth topping the list. Gender-wise, the burden is equally shared - 13.91 lakh men and 11.76 lakh women make up this massive queue of unfulfilled aspirations. While Sagar district tops the list of unemployed youth, Pandhurna finds itself at the bottom. In 21 districts, more than 50,000 unemployed youth are registered, while in 34 districts, the number is below that mark.

Mahayuti alliance to have friendly fights on certain contentious seats, says CM Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday (July 28, 2025) stated that the alliances of the Mahayuti government will contest together in seats where it's feasible, while friendly contests will be held in constituencies where a united contest isn't possible in the upcoming local polls in the State. 'Mahayuti is a rule, friendly fights are an exception but not a rule for upcoming elections,' said Mr. Fadnavis, while speaking in Wardha district, after the party meeting with BJP Ministers, MPs, and MLAs from Vidarbha. Mr. Fadnavis also reiterated that the BJP is always ready. However, the opposition keeps setting false narratives as they are unable to compete with the government based on development. After the Supreme Court on May 6 directed the State Election Commission to conduct the local body elections within four weeks in Maharashtra, political parties from the ruling Mahayuti alliance, opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and others have started preparing for the local polls, making strategic alliances. The elections were halted due to litigation over the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation issue. After the decision, the government also issued orders to start the election process for 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai's civic body- Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Speaking about Mumbai, Mr. Fadnavis asserted that people have already decided in their heart that the Mayor of Mumbai will be of Mahayuti, adding, 'Whether Thackeray brothers contest unitedly or independently doesn't matter.' 'Shoot and Scoot' Calling the opposition's stand on Operation Sindoor is 'shoot and scoot', Mr. Fadnavis said, 'Opposition Sindoor don't want to talk as it reveals the truth of how soldiers fought courageously, failing their narratives.

‘Persecuted Hindus from Bangladesh should apply under CAA'

Nagpur: Hindus who fled countries like Bangladesh to escape religious persecution should not remain in hiding; they must come out and apply under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The recent crackdown is not on Bengali-speaking people, as certain political elements may claim. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is reaching out to such Hindus to assist them apply under CAA. "Even certificates are being issued to them after confirming that they are Hindus," said VHP's organizing general secretary Milind Parande on Monday. The new law applies to persons of Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, and Parsi communities who reached India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014. "Those who came later can also get citizenship through naturalisation," he said adding, "The recent crackdown is against illegal Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh, not generally against those who speak Bengali." Later, talking to TOI, Parande said it can be understood that those who fled these countries may not be able to produce the required documents needed in the CAA application. "The VHP is assisting them in dealing with such practical difficulties but in a legal manner," he said. Parande said in its central committee meeting held at Jalgaon last week, the VHP raised concerns over what he termed "conversion by churches, Islamic fundamentalism, Marxism, secularists and even profit-driven market forces". "There are certain global groups working to weaken the Hindu social fabric. Yet, the Hindus have remained resilient," he said adding the VHP also plans to start a campaign against drug addiction. VHP also expressed concern over an incident in the Lakadganj involving an alleged attack on a Hindu girl's family. # 'Review Secular & Socialist in Constitution' VHP leader Milind Parande backed the idea of reviewing the inclusion of the words "secular" and "socialist" in the preamble of the Constitution. Parande said at the time of framing the Constitution, even Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Rajendra Prasad, who later became the President, were not in favour of having the two words in the preamble. "This was because they did not want the Constitution to be bound by any doctrine. It was only added during the Emergency," he said. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sarkaryavaha Dattatreya Hosabale had raised a similar question recently.
