KRV urges State govt. to implement Kannada compulsory rule
A delegation of KRV activists met Mayor Mangesh Pawar and Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi and submitted a memorandum urging them to complete Kannada implementation in city governance.
They have also sent letters to the district administration and the State government.
They condemned the opposition made to the rule by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES). They alleged that the city-based party is resorting to blackmail and is using divisive tactics.
The MES has announced that it will organise a protest against this policy in October. It has claimed that it will invite some leaders from Maharashtra for the protest rally, the KRV leaders said.
But the State government and the district administration should not succumb to any such tactics, the KRV leaders said.
The KRV leaders warned of an intensive agitation if the State government fails to implement the official language policy due to pressure from MES.
District KRV president Deepak Gudaganatti and other leaders like Raju Nashipudi, Vinayak Bovi, Arjun Kamble, Ismail Mulla, Abhishek Agasagi, Manjunath Rathod, Shanta Hanabar, Roopali Barigaddi and others were present.

Kannada Development Authority urges govt to adopt state education policy
Bengaluru: The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has urged the govt to fully adopt the state education policy (SEP) to drive significant transformation in the education sector. It opined that the new policy can instill the strength needed to face the challenges of the new generation. KDA chairman Purushotham Bilimale wrote to chief minister Siddaramaiah and education ministers Saturday, saying, "If the govt implements the comprehensive SEP, which includes a detailed time-bound action plan to address many of the current issues in the education sector, it will undergo significant transformation in the next 10 years." Bilimale added that the SEP report has thoroughly examined the issue of languages in schools and higher education and recommended a bilingual policy with Kannada and English for the state. He urged the govt to support language development by accepting the report. Devanur Mahadeva urges Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to implement internal quota without delay
Kannada writer and activist Devanur Mahadeva has written an open letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to implement the recommendations of the H.N. Nagamohan Das Commission report on internal reservation, which have been made 'in keeping with the spirit of the Supreme Court judgement on the issue.' Cabinet meeting The letter comes ahead of a special meeting of the State Cabinet on Tuesday to discuss the report, which was submitted to the government on August 4. Dalit left and right communities have been divided on the report, with the former demanding its implementation at the earliest and the latter calling it 'unscientific.' In his letter, Mr. Mahadeva says that he writes amid 'confusion and anguish' that implementation of the report might be pushed indefinitely because of the controversies surrounding it. With the government recruitment process linked to internal reservation implementation, the writer has expressed apprehension that postponing it might lead to thousands of youths being denied employment. The letter also batted for raising the reservation for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and the Scheduled Tribes (ST), which he argues could put an end to some of the confusion. Commending the commission for covering 94% of the population and conducting a thorough survey, Mr. Mahadeva also said: 'This is not to suggest that the objections against the report should be brushed aside.' He said that hiking the quantum of quota and expanding the powers and functions of both the SC and ST commissions for periodic revision of reservation policies in accordance with data would end much of the confusion. Protest on Monday Meanwhile, the Dalit right groups have upped their ante and announced a protest against the report on Monday at Freedom Park under the banner of the Karnataka Rajya Balagai Jathigala Okkoota. They have alleged that the report is 'unscientific, incomplete and prepared with mala fide intentions', as it goes against the interest of the Dalit right communities. They have demanded that the government should reject the report and conduct a fresh survey.
