‘The Buccaneers' Season 2 Soundtrack: From Griff To Sabrina Carpenter

‘The Buccaneers' Season 2 Soundtrack: From Griff To Sabrina Carpenter

Yahoo10 hours ago

With its first season Apple TV+'s The Buccaneers made a name for itself with its focus on all women musicians featured in the show's soundtrack, with needle drops like Taylor Swift's 'Nothing New,' Japanese Breakfast's 'Be Sweet,' Brandi Carlile's 'Broken Horses' and Bikini Kill's 'Rebel Girl' featured in the first season, to name a few. Swift's 'Nothing New' was used in the scene where Nan St. George (Kristine Frøseth) and her friends made their society debut, similar to the procession of Netflix's Bridgerton in white dresses and feathers.
Later on in the first season, songs like 'Kissing Lessons' by Lucy Dacus, 'Cedar' by Gracie Abrams,' 'Bite the Hand' by boygenius, 'Want Want' by Maggie Rogers' and another Taylor Swift anthem, 'Long Live' highlighted the high stakes of Nan's decisions. Season 2 continues in the vein of mostly women artsits featured on the soundtrack. It also features Chloé Caillet's remix of 'North American Scum' by the Emily Kokal featuring Miya Folick. Jennifer Smuckler and Christina Azarian serve as music leads on the show, and Stella Mozgawa worked as executive music producer, collaborating with artists for certain songs featured in later episodes.

Taylor Swift surprises patients at children's hospital

Patients at a Florida children's hospital were treated to the ultimate surprise: a visit from Taylor Swift! The 'All Too Well' singer stopped by the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, on June 12. She paid the patients a visit before she and boyfriend Travis Kelce attended the NHL's Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers. Not only did she say hello to the young fans, but she also gifted them a signed copy of her Eras Tour book. 'I don't know him': Mariah Carey trolls popular YouTuber Everyone was excited about the visit. Even the therapy dogs were dressed for the occasion, wearing bandanas that read 'In my good boy era.' The hospital posted heartwarming videos and photos of the visit on Instagram. 'You made this a day we'll never shake off,' the caption on its account read. 'Thank you, @taylorswift for bringing your support and kindness to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. You turned hospital hallways into a place of joy, comfort, and connection.' Eric Dane emotionally explains ALS battle They completed the post by continuing with some more Swift lyrics. 'Our patients and families felt the love and the magic will stay, stay, stay with them long after today.' Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson's Brothers Apple Series Pauses Production, Lee Eisenberg In Talks To Join As New Showrunner

EXCLUSIVE: Filming has been suspended on Apple TV+'s untitled brothers comedy series from Skydance Television starring and executive produced by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, Deadline has learned. According to sources, production in Austin, TX was paused late last week, with the cast, which includes fellow stars Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez and Brittany Ishibashi, sent home. The development, which involves the departure of showrunner David West Read, comes as eight of the series' 10 ordered episodes have been shot. Veteran comedy showrunner Lee Eisenberg (Jury Duty, Little America), who most recently created and executive produced Apple TV+'s acclaimed limited series Lessons In Chemistry, is in negotiations to come on board as showrunner for the last two episodes and likely reshoots, I hear. The makeup of the brothers comedy series is unusual — its stars/executive producers McConaughey and Harrelson are real stakeholders as the project is loosely inspired by their real-life longtime friendship. The untitled brothers series stars Harrelson and McConaughey in a heartfelt, odd couple love story revolving around their strange and beautiful bond. Matthew and Woody's friendship is tested when their combined families attempt to live together on Matthew's ranch in Texas. The cast also includes series regulars Oona Yaffe, Highdee Kuan, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton and Noah Carganilla. Skydance Television is producing the series for Apple TV+. West Read, McConaughey and Harrelson executive produce alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television and Bill Bost and Jeremy Plager. There is no return to production date set yet as the new showrunner is expected to take some time to tweak the series' creative direction. Reps for Apple TV+ and Skydance TV declined comment. ‘Arcane,' returning from a 3-year hiatus, leads early Best Animated Program Emmy odds

The second and final season of Arcane is poised to shake up the 2025 Emmys. There are 38 submissions this year in the Best Animated Program category, which means there will again be five nominees. Leading the pack, per the Gold Derby odds, is Arcane. Three years later, it's back for Season 2, and there's no reason to think Television Academy members won't be just as enamored this time around. Arcane wrapped up major plot points in the series finale, "The Dirt Under Your Nails," in which destinies clashed in the lead-up to an all-out war. This is the episode that has been submitted for Emmy consideration. READ: The one show best positioned to beat Arcane in our odds is The Simpsons. The longest-running American scripted primetime series ever wrapped up its 36th season in May with its 790th episode. To date, The Simpsons has won 37 Emmys from 102 nominations, including 12 trophies for Best Animated Program. The comedy about the denizens of Springfield most recently prevailed in 2023 for "Treehouse of Horror XXXIII," but was beaten last year by Blue Eye Samurai, which is not currently in the running. This time around, the season premiere, "Bart's Birthday," is being entered for Emmy consideration, which serves a meta take on the show's eventual series finale. Love, Death + Robots has a near-perfect track record at the Emmys, winning 13 of its 15 nominations through the years. It won Best Short Form Animated Program for each of its first three seasons in 2019, 2021, and 2022, but is now competing against the big dogs up in the main Best Animated Program race. (There is no short form animation category this year, possibly due to a dearth of eligible submissions.) Season 4 of the anthology series streamed all 10 episodes on May 15, right at the tail end of the eligibility period. The third episode, "Spider Rose," has been submitted, and focuses on a grieving woman hellbent on revenge at the end of the galaxy. In fourth place is Bob's Burgers, a 13-time nominee in this category and two-time winner (2014 and 2017). Season 15 was split into two parts, with the first part airing at the end of 2024 and the second part airing now and through the summer. The eighth episode, "They Slug Horses, Don't They?," is being put forward for Emmy consideration, in which Tina and Louise get into an argument that escalates across several increasingly graphic "apology" cards. Invincible comes in fifth place for a nomination. Emmy voters will be judging the sixth episode of Season 3, "All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry," where a powerful new figure challenges Markus "Mark" Grayson/Invincible (voiced by Steven Yeun), and helps him to explore the concept of right vs. wrong. The superhero series streams on Prime Video, and received its first Emmy nomination last year for Sterling K. Brown for voicing Angstrom Levy.
