Wednesday is the new Tuesday at AMC this summer
AMC Theatres said it will offer 50% ticket discounts on Wednesdays for Stubs Members.
The move follows its successful Tuesday discounts.
AMC's move follows a box office resurgence, despite a fall in attendance at its locations.
AMC Theatres is making discount tickets available on a second day of the week in a bid to lure more moviegoers back to the big screen.
Starting July 9, members of the AMC Stubs loyalty scheme will be able to buy tickets at a 50% discount on Wednesdays.
The world's largest movie theatre operator said it would also continue to offer cheaper tickets on Tuesdays, which vary depending on location.
The offer has made Tuesdays one of the best-attended days of the week because moviegoers looked for "great value," CEO Adam Aron said in a statement on Monday.
"With the introduction by AMC of 50% off Wednesdays, we're looking to turn Wednesday into a similarly strong-attendance day for moviegoers at our theatres."
AMC Stubs is free to join and the scheme has about 36 million members. For every $1 spent at a branch, 20 points can be earned and spent on snacks at theaters.
The offer comes ahead of the much-anticipated releases of "Superman," "Jurassic Park Rebirth," and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."
The Kansas-headquartered firm said strong box office takings in recent weeks had made it possible to bring in the offer.
"Realistically, we could not afford to have made this change to our ticket pricing strategy until the box office showed true signs of sustained recovery," Aron said.
"But in April and now in May, the box office has been booming, and the remainder of 2025 appears poised to continue that upward box office trend."
"A Minecraft Movie" is the year's highest-grossing film in the US, taking more than $400 million, followed by "Sinners" and "Captain America: Brave New World."
Despite soaring ticket sales in theaters this year, AMC's attendance declined by 11% in the first quarter of 2025, and it reported a near-7% fall in revenues year-on-year.
AMC recently altered terms and prices for its A-List offering, meaning subscribers can now see up to four movies a week rather than three.
The stock rose 0.4% in premarket trading.

New ‘Wonder Woman' Movie 'Being Written Right Now' Says DC Co-Boss James Gunn
Wonder Woman under James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios hasn't hung up her lasso. 'We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now,' Gunn told EW today. More from Deadline Kevin Smith Praises 'Superman' Trailer's "Really F-ing Smart" Take On U.S. Political Climate: "People Wanna Hope Right Now" James Gunn Confirms 'Superman' Runtime & Clears Up Rumor Warner Bros. Forced Him To Cut It Down 'Sgt. Rock' Halts Pre-Production, Now Eyeing Summer 2026 Production Start DC didn't comment on who exactly is writing the new Wonder Woman. Gunn hasn't yet cast the role of who'll play Princess Diana of Themyscira. That's a big deal. When Gunn and Safran took over the reigns of DC back in late 2022, they essentially began unplugging from the Zack Snyder created DC universe. One of those projects not to move forward was Patty Jenkins' third Wonder Woman movie which wasn't up to snuff. In addition Gunn said today, that the new 'Wonder Woman's a separate thing' to the already announced Paradise Lost HBO/Max series, which is 'slow moving, but it's moving,' per the Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy franchise filmmaker. Gunn also confirmed what was blurted out by Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav during last month's earnings call; that Superman, Batman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman were lynchpins to Gunn and Safran's DC. 'I think that's accurate, actually,' Gunn told EW. 'I think that he got that from something I said. I wouldn't say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us. Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we're dealing with the other two.' The Paradise Lost HBO Max series was first announced by Gunn and Safran when the first unveiled their vision for DC aka 'Gods and Monsters' in early 2023. Set on Wonder Woman's home planet Themyscira, Gunn billed Paradise Lost as 'Game of Thrones with Westeros but with all the inhabitants of Paradise Island.' No announced scribes yet for Paradise Lost. As of August 2023 on a press tour for the Netflix movie Heart of Stone, Gadot exclaimed 'I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [co-chairperson and CEO of DC alongside Gunn] and what they told me, and I'm quoting: 'You're in the best hands. We're going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you've got nothing to worry about.' So time will tell.' At the time of her comments, DC told Deadline that Wonder Woman 3 wasn't in the works. After getting her treatment pulled, Jenkins told the press that when it came to the threequel, 'I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me.' Wonder Woman 3 was promptly announced in the wake of the theatrical day-and-date tanking of Wonder Woman 1984, which grossed $170M WW, $47M U.S. when many theaters around the globe were closed. Warners held the movie through the pandemic but decided to go theatrical and on HBO Max at Christmas 2020 as the first title in the Jason Kilar-run WarnerMedia HBO Max dynamic window experiment. The first Wonder Woman in 2017, also directed by Jenkins, was a box office revolution for a movie directed by a female, earning over $822M around the globe. Brace yourself for more ads before movies at AMC theaters, reports say
Brace yourself for more ads before movies at AMC theaters, reports say Show Caption Hide Caption AMC, Regal investing $2.2B to upgrade movie theater experience The eight biggest movie theater chains in the U.S. and Canada — including AMC and Regal — will invest $2.2 billion to make upgrades. Straight Arrow News Moviegoers, brace yourselves. The dreaded advertisements before a movie are expected to get longer at AMC Cinemas, according to multiple reports. The cinema chain is joining major competitors in running even more commercials starting in July under a new partnership with cinema advertising company National CineMedia (NCM), multiple outlets including Bloomberg and the New York Times reported. The move comes in an effort to increase revenue without raising ticket prices as cinemas continues to struggle financially and recover from the COVID-19 losses, The Hollywood Reporter reported. Under the deal, AMC will play commercials in what is known as the 'platinum spot,' the part right before the movie begins, in complete contrast to its 2019 decision in which it had shunned NCM's proposal to place ads in that spot. National CineMedia had gone on to sign agreements with two of AMC's rivals, Regal and Cinemark, that year, according to NYT. "AMC has no plan to introduce commercial advertising close to the start of a movie's commencement at its theatres in the United States, nor does AMC envision entering into such an arrangement with NCM anytime in the foreseeable future," the cinema chain had said in a September 2019 statement. AMC further said the concept "of commencing a platinum advertising position during the end of trailer play," was "flatly rejected" "because of AMC's concerns that U.S. moviegoers would react quite negatively to the concept." AMC prepared for backlash While AMC did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for a comment on the latest development, the chain in a statement to NYT suggested it was prepared for criticism and backlash, noting the decision would not impact the customer's wallets. 'For the past five years, AMC has sought out crucial revenue that is not reliant on the increase of base ticket prices,' the company said in the statement to NYT, adding 'while AMC was initially reluctant to bring this to our theaters, our competitors have fully participated for more than five years without any direct impact to their attendance.' Both AMC and NCM are expected to share revenues from the new pre-movie advertising window, according to The Hollywood Reporter. National CineMedia also did not respond to USA TODAY's request for comment. It is not known how long the pre-show and advertisements would run and what kind of ads viewers can expect to see. Sweetgreen opening locations in 4 new cities this year: See where
Sweetgreen, known for its customizable bowls and "plant-forward menu," will soon be available in four new U.S. cities, according to the company's leadership. The Los Angeles-headquartered fast-casual chain serves bowls that customers can tailor to their own appetite, including choosing from caramelized garlic steak, wild rice and other combinations. Sweetgreen has already opened eight new restaurants this year, including one in Santa Clara on June 10, Chris Tarrant, the chain's chief development officer, told USA TODAY in an email. On June 12, a location will open in Huntersville, North Carolina, he added. Here is what Sweetgreen fans need to know about the future locations coming to four new markets.. Sweetgreen is opening locations in new markets, such as Sacramento, Phoenix, Cincinnati, and northwest Arkansas, Tarrant said. Sweetgreen's northwest Arkansas location will be in Fayetteville, as well as in Bentonville, at Walmart's home office campus, joining restaurants such as Ozark Mountain Bagel, Wright's Barbecue and multiple coffee shops. So far in 2025, Sweetgreen has opened the following locations: Pennsylvania: 1359 Frankford Ave. Suite 2, Philadelphia New Jersey: 221 East Broad Street, Westfield Connecticut: 110 Albany Turnpike, Suite 911, Canton Virginia: 3502 West Cary Street, Richmond and 4225 Fairfax Corner Ave. East, Fairfax Wisconsin: 418 N Midvale Blvd. Madison Michigan: 260 North Adams Road, Rochester Hills By the end of the year, Sweetgreen will have opened at least 40 new locations, Tarrant said. Among the new locations, two will be Sweetlane or drive-thru locations where customers order through the company's digital platform, according to Tarrant. One of the new drive-thru locations will be like previous restaurants, while the second drive-thru location will feature the company's Infinite Kitchen or automated technology, Tarrant said. Tarrant added that about half of the locations opened in 2025 will feature the company's Infinite Kitchen technology. Sweetgreen opened its pilot Infinite Kitchen store in May 2023 in Naperville, Illinois, promising quicker and more accurate service with precise portioning. The automated technology can perform tasks such as dispensing greens, dressing bowls and plates, as well as mixing salads. The automated system would allow team members to focus on food preparation and other tasks, the company wrote in a May 2023 news release. 'Team members add the final touches at the finishing station, with a sprinkle of herbs or a scoop of avocado,' according to the company. Tarrant said the company plans to keep growing in 2026. 'We look forward to serving more communities as we expand our footprint with 15%-20% annual unit growth and offer different formats to meet our guests where they are,' he added.
