UPROXX Studios' Sound Check is back with another fire episode! The weekly interview series revealing your favorite artist's musical taste consists of high stakes 12-round episodes that feature a carefully curated playlist of impossible choices, unearthing some never-before-heard stories and creative influences. The show has previously hosted guests including Big Sean, Rico Nasty, The LOX, DaBaby and more. On Episode 6, host Jeremy Hecht sits down with Pontiac, Michigan rapper and streamer DDG.
DDG is a self proclaimed Lover Boy. Considering that, Jeremy presented him with two songs that feel like falling in love – 'Bed Peace' by Jhené Aiko ft. Childish Gambino and 'U My Everything' by Sexyy Redd ft. Drake. The 27 year-old chose the latter by stating, 'Definitely Sexyy Red. That's my vibe. Sexyy Red like Top 5 for me…Female Artists of all time. Cardi B is number 1, number two I would say is Latto, number 3, Glo Rilla, number 4…Sexyy Red, and number 5…Bhad Bhabie.
Later, Hecht forced DDG to choose between two current rap GOATs – 'Back To The Moon' by Gunna from Furious 7 and 'Constantly Hating ' by Young Thug ft Birdman. After consideration, DDG picked Gunna. He explained by saying, 'Tough…I ain't gon lie, I like the Gunna song a lil bit more. Gunna's just one of my favorite artists right now. I like the lyrics, and the feel of the song…it feel real effortless. And I've been in the studio with Gunna so I've seen how he records. you can tell its just real organic and it's just talent, you know.'
In the final round, Hecht flipped the script and turned the tables on himself by attempting to guess the track DDG says represents his entire life. Given two options—'Nobody Gets Me' by SZA and 'Love' by Keyshia Cole—Hecht incorrectly guesses 'Love'. When asked about his song selection, DDG answers, 'Well I listened to her album when it first came out…and everybody was going crazy on 'Snooze', but I think they was sleeping on 'Nobody Gets Me.''

JOY! FM wins KDHX auction with $8.75 million bid
ST. LOUIS — Christian radio station 99.1 JOY FM is one step closer to owning KDHX, the 88.1 FM radio station, after offering a winning bid at an auction for the station on Friday. According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, JOY! FM topped Christian music network K-LOVE with an $8.75 million offer, beating out K-LOVE's $8.5 million bid. JOY! FM's bid won the right to buy KDHX's license, broadcast tower, and other assets after the radio station filed for bankruptcy two months ago. Big Give Back initiative turns parking lot into lifeline for tornado victims The offer for KDHX also includes an agreement to fund the station's transition to a high-definition radio station and an internet station, allowing the station to play its traditional styles of music. The Post-Dispatch reports that no other groups participated in the auction, including a coalition of former DJs and station supporters who would like to see KDHX remain over the airwaves under different management. In March, KDHX filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, which stemmed from a period when the radio station lost 24 of its 80 volunteer disc jockeys in September 2023 due to firings or walkouts, impacting its revenue. A final hearing will take place on June 9 for a bankruptcy judge to determine whether to allow the sale. If the sale goes through without any objections from other interested parties, it may be closed within six months. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
