Alongside, PM Modi will unveil the 29-kilometre Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, stretching from the Kherki Daula toll plaza to Shiv Murti at Mahipalpur. The Gurugram section was inaugurated back in March 2024.Together, the two corridors are expected to make traffic flow toward the airport, Gurugram and Jaipur much smoother.Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and other BJP leaders are expected to be present at the event.Officials said the access-controlled expressways will allow uninterrupted travel and help take load off Delhi's arterial roads.The Rs 9,000 crore Dwarka Expressway was built in four packages, while the UER-II was completed in five.According to the National Highways Authority of India, UER-II was planned under the Delhi Master Plan 2021 and spans 54 kilometres in Delhi and about 21 kilometres in Haryana. Tilaknagar Industries to complete Imperial Blue acquisition by Dec ‘25, awaits CCI nod
Brandy giant Tilaknagar Industries is all set to acquire Imperial Blue which is expected to be completed by December this year as the company awaits regulatory approval from Competition Commission of India (CCI).'Our acquisition of the Imperial Blue business division from Pernod Ricard India is subject to CCI approval, which we expect to receive by (the) end of calendar year 2025,' Amit Dahanukar, Chairman & Managing Director, Tilaknagar Industries, said. The company will enter into a Transition Manufacturing and Services Agreement (TSMA) with PRI to ensure a smooth transition. Tilaknagar Ind. signed an agreement to acquire the whiskey brand Imperial Blue for about Rs 4,150 crore from Pernord Richard. "With the acquisition, the company will become one of the leading players in brandy and whiskey, the two largest IMFL categories. Imperial Blue shall serve as a base for the company's premium portfolio strategy. This acquisition would also strengthen the distribution network of the company," Tilaknagar Industries said in a statement earlier. The company has signed definitive agreements for the acquisition of Imperial Blue division of France's Pernod Ricard, marking the largest transaction in the Indian alcoholic beverage space by an Indian transaction includes normalized working capital of Rs 700 cr and deferred consideration of Rs 282 cr to be paid after 4 years from the transaction closing date, i.e., in FY30. Tilaknagar Industries intends to finance the deal with a mix of equity and debt. On July 29, the company announced that it will raise Rs 2,296 crore through preferential issue of securities to fund acquisition of Imperial Blue business division and general corporate purpose. Tilaknagar Industries will also sign a long-term supply agreement with Chivas Brothers for CAB (Concentrated Alcoholic Beverage), an essential raw material for manufacturing IB products, as mentioned in the company's investor presentation.'Procurement arrangement can be extended with mutual discussions between the parties, ensuring no disruption in business,' it added. To meet the growing capacity requirements, Tilaknagar Ind. recently announced a six-fold capacity addition in its bottling unit - Prag Distillery in Andhra Pradesh. The company is set to invest Rs 59 crore to increase the capacity from 6 lakh to 36 lakh cases annually. 'We would also like to announce that the Board has approved investment of INR 59 crore, including the license fees and interest payments of around INR 34 crore for expansion at Prag Distillery, increasing the capacity from 6 lakh to 36 lakh cases p.a.,' the chairman said in a expansion enables us to safeguard supply in one of the fastest growing IMFL markets in India, the company Board of Directors approved an additional capital expenditure of Rs 25 crores for the above expansion of its existing bottling capacity. CBI arrests advocate, aide for seeking Rs 30-lakh bribe to secure favourable verdict in divorce case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch, Chandigarh, has arrested advocate Jatin Salwan and his aide on allegations of demanding Rs 30-lakh bribe to secure favourable judicial orders in a divorce case pending before a Bathinda court. As per a CBI official, Salwan was arrested and produced before the CBI court which sent him to judicial custody. Salwan's counsel refused to comment anything as of now. Salwan's aide Satnam Singh was caught by the CBI, following the complaint from Sector 9, Chandigarh, while he was allegedly accepting amount of Rs 4 lakh. He was also produced in the court with Salwan, and sent to judicial custody by the Chandigarh CBI court. According to the FIR, the case was registered under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and Section 7-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The FIR has been registered on a written complaint filed by Harsimranjit Singh, a resident of Firozepur. He alleged that Salwan demanded a bribe of Rs 30 lakh in exchange for ensuring a favourable order in the divorce case of his cousin, by misusing his personal influence on the judicial officer posted at Bathinda. The complaint was marked to Inspector Sonal Mishra, CBI, ACB Chandigarh, for verification. During verification, the allegations were substantiated. In a recorded conversation, Salwan allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh for securing the court's order in favour of the complainant's cousin. He reportedly insisted that the complainant pay the bribe in full but later agreed to accept Rs 5 lakh as the first instalment. Salwan informed the complainant that someone on behalf of the judicial officer would collect the token money. During the conversation, he is specifically quoted as saying: 'rishwat de paise kade ghat nahi honde (bribe amounts are never negotiated or reduced)'. The CBI noted that the complaint and its verification prima facie disclosed the commission of offences under the BNS and Prevention of Corruption Act. Arrested in 2016 as well in NDPS Act case In 2016, advocate Salwan was also arrested by the Chandigarh Police. At that time, the police had caught a businessman, Sukhbir Singh Shergill's driver, with 2.6 kg opium and Rs 15 lakh in counterfeit currency. During investigation, it was revealed that this was part of a conspiracy to falsely implicate Shergill, in which Salwan's name also surfaced. In this case, Salwan and others were booked under the NDPS Act, though he was later granted bail. The case against Salwan and the other accused is still pending before the High Court.

Self-reliance, use of technology, health competition: Delhi Police chief outlines 3 focus areas on I-Day
Delhi Police Commissioner S B K Singh Friday, urged the force to strive for self-reliance, the use of technology and healthy competition. During the Independence Day celebrations at the Delhi Police headquarters, the police chief, while addressing the force, reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision on these three points, which he had outlined at the Red Fort. During his address, Singh directed Delhi Police units to work on 'atmanirbharta' (self-reliance) and come up with a proposal within 15 days. The aim is to make the Delhi Police self-reliant on as many fronts to stop dependence on other units for things like commandos, bomb disposal squads and wireless sets, he said. 'Although the Delhi Police have always been making the best use of technology and we are way ahead on this front, there is still a need to go further,' he said. 'We need to embrace this principle at an individual and as well as at the organisational level.' He advised the units and districts of the Delhi Police to work on this principle to develop a sense of healthy competition among themselves. While expressing his concern, the police commissioner said that despite working so hard, even beyond working hours, the force has not been able to win the trust of the public as it should have. He further suggested that every police personnel needs to come out of a feudalistic mindset and shift attitude from 'Shasak Bhav' to 'Sewa Bhav' to make the public feel more comfortable approaching the police in case of need. The force's head also took the opportunity to congratulate the 18 officers and personnel of Delhi Police who have been awarded police medals for 'distinguished service' and 'meritorious service' on the occasion of Independence Day, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
