Ryan Gosling Not Playing Black Panther? Viral Meme Sparks False Rumors About Marvel Casting

Pink Villaa day ago

Rumors that Ryan Gosling has been cast as Marvel's next Black Panther are entirely false. An insider with direct knowledge said there is 'not a vibranium ounce of truth' to the claim. Gosling has neither been approached nor considered for the role of Black Panther, originally played by the late Chadwick Boseman.
The speculation gained momentum recently after an old meme resurfaced online. The image, which photoshopped Gosling's face onto Black Panther's body, first appeared back in 2018. It was reportedly used at the time by critics unhappy with Disney's diversity casting in other franchises. Now, years later, it has gone viral again, misleading some fans into believing a casting change was in the works.
"Ryan has not been cast, nor has he been eyed, to play an iteration of Black Panther," the source told TMZ, shutting down the rumor.
Here's where the Ryan Gosling Black Panther rumor started
The renewed interest in the meme appears to have caused confusion, with many social media users reacting strongly to the idea of a white actor being cast as the iconic African superhero. The backlash was swift, with users accusing Marvel of potentially 'whitewashing' the role. Some also questioned whether this was connected to the studio's growing use of multiverse plotlines, which allow different versions of characters to appear across parallel universes.
While Marvel does have a track record of using alternate realities in its storytelling, sources say this rumor has no connection to any future MCU project. Simply put, this storyline isn't in the cards.
Letitia Wright, who took over the Black Panther mantle following Chadwick Boseman's death in 2020, is set to continue playing the character. She will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, further solidifying her position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite the false Black Panther rumors, Ryan Gosling is entering a major Disney-owned franchise. He's been cast in the upcoming Star Wars film Starfighter. While fans may see him wielding a lightsaber soon, he will not be donning the Black Panther suit.

Zoe Saldana declares her Oscar to be gender-fluid with pronouns they/them

Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana is a bleeding-heart liberal, and she is not afraid to show it to the world. The actress has gone a step further, and has introduced her Oscar trophy as 'gender fluid'. Earlier this year, the actress, 46, took home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in 'Emilia Perez', which marked her first-ever Academy Award, reports 'People' magazine. At the Los Angeles premiere of her latest movie on June 10, Elio, she revealed what the statuette has been up to since. As per 'People', after Saldana was asked where she now keeps the award, the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star said, 'We have it in my office and my Oscar is gender fluid'. She also revealed a bit more about the shiny, gold statuette, adding that it's 'trans' and 'goes by they/them'. In 'Emilia Perez', a Spanish-language musical and crime drama, the actress portrays Rita, a lawyer who is tasked with helping the movie's titular character (Karla Sofía Gascon) obtain a gender-affirming surgery to escape life as a cartel boss. 'Elio', meanwhile, centers around 'Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession', as per Disney. Saldana stars as Olga Solis in the Pixar/Disney film, which helps her get 'cool points' with her sons, she previously revealed. 'Since becoming a parent, incorporating what I do, my art, into a genre that caters to children has always been a great interest to me', Saldana said on Good Morning America earlier this month. 'And I get to relate to them, and I also get some mad cool points as a mom', she added during the appearance, 'my 8-year-old cannot wait for Elio to come out'.

Fictional castles inspired by real-life structures

Imagine you could design and build your fantasy castle. Would your walls be made of ice? Would your roof soar till the clouds or be snug and low like a cave? Our mental pictures of fantasy castles may come from our favourite books and films. But imagination often has some roots in reality, and many fantastic fictional castles are inspired by actual buildings. Stave Churches of Norway Remember Elsa and Anna's castle in Frozen? Did you know that the basis for this picturesque setting with fjords and snowy mountains is Norway? The castles and buildings in the film were inspired by Norway's wooden architecture, particularly stave churches. Stave means a vertical wooden plank and these 12th century churches were built primarily of wood. The sloped, pointed roofs were supported by vertical posts and the interiors had wood carvings. Norway once had over 1000 such churches but only 28 remain today. One of the best-preserved is the Borgund Stave Church. The series of roofs decreasing in size with dragon head decorations gives it the effect of a castle. Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany This castle, located in the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Southern Germany, is often dubbed the 'Disney Castle', since it was a key inspiration for Walt Disney for his fantasy universe. You can spot similarities to this real-life castle in Sleeping Beauty in Disneyland and in the logo at the beginning of every Disney movie. King Ludwig II, an eccentric king who loved the arts, built this grand, whimsical castle in 1869 not for defence or politics, but purely for fun. The interiors have some fairytale elements like a secret door that leads to a stone grotto (a cave), with an artificial waterfall and a rainbow machine! University of Oxford, England While the Harry Potter movies were filmed at several castles, manor houses and churches across England including the Durham Cathedral, Gloucester Cathedral and Alnwick Castle, the layout and architecture of Hogwarts was strongly influenced by the universities, Oxford and Cambridge, with their stately Gothic buildings with pointed arches, intricate carvings and stone facades. The libraries, grand dining halls and common rooms have wall tapestries, fireplaces and portraits of important people that inspired some scenes to be filmed at Oxford, while others were used to recreate film sets. For example, the Great Hall of Hogwarts was recreated based on the dining hall of the Christ Church College at Oxford. If you had to draw your own fantasy castle, what would your real-life inspirations be?

Scarlett Johansson says Marvel's large casts made her feel like a ‘plot device' in some films, talks about personal limits

Scarlett Johansson, widely recognized for playing Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently shared her experience working in films with large ensemble casts. In an interview with Interview Magazine, Johansson spoke candidly about feeling 'cagey' during her time on some Marvel projects, especially when character depth took a backseat to expansive plotlines and star-studded lineups. Johansson made her final MCU appearance in Avengers: Endgame, released in 2019. The film also marked the last appearance of Chris Evans, who played Captain America, concluding their journey in Marvel's Phase 3. The actress featured in a total of nine Marvel movies, becoming a key figure in the franchise. Character depth varied across Marvel films Johansson mentioned that her character had more screen engagement in certain films, particularly Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where she shared significant screen time and story arc with Chris Evans. 'Some of the films that I did for Marvel engaged my character more than others,' she said. 'Like in Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Chris, we were really dynamic.' However, she pointed out that not every film offered the same creative involvement. Being part of a large cast came with its challenges Reflecting on her overall MCU journey, Johansson admitted feeling more like a functional piece in some of the bigger ensemble movies. 'In some of the other films, the cast was so enormous and there was so much plot to serve that you start to feel like you're a device to move it along,' she explained. She also highlighted how such long commitments often blur personal identity, adding, 'If you're committed to five and a half months of that, it's like, 'Okay. I can't paint my nails; I can't get a haircut.'' Cannes praise and Jurassic world Despite the mixed experience, Johansson is moving forward with new creative ventures. Her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, received positive attention at the Cannes Film Festival. She is also set to appear in Jurassic World Rebirth opposite Jonathan Bailey. The film is scheduled for release on July 4.
