Gangland machete thugs seen leaving getaway car and fleeing in second motor after Glasgow blade attack

GANGLAND machete nuts were spotted dumping a getaway car before speeding off in another motor after "chopping up" two men in a turf war murder bid.
The pair drove four miles to Blantyre, Lanarkshire, following the lunchtime bloodbath at a car repair garage owned by Robert Daniel in East Kilbride.

Garage boss Robert Daniel was said by sources to have been the main target.

Forensics officers at the scene of Monday's attack in East Kilbride.
They then clambered into a red Vauxhall Astra which had followed them to a rendezvous point near a children's nursery before it raced away.
A witness described seeing the mobsters dump the blue Audi A5 in a street, where it was set ablaze just over seven hours later at around 9pm.
The source, who asked not to be named, told The Scottish Sun: "Both cars drove into the street together.
"The blue car parked up and two guys got out. They jumped into the red Astra which had followed them in.
"I didn't think anything of it until much later when the blue motor went up in flames.
"Police and the fire service came down and put it out.
"Cops were guarding it overnight before it was taken away on a 911 recovery truck.
"It was only later someone said it was linked to the attack in East Kilbride. It's worrying for sure."
The burnt-out car yesterday sat with its bonnet flipped open and red and white hazard tape wrapped around its charred bodywork.
What looked like a rag next to the motor's fuel tank could also be seen.
Detectives are understood to be examining CCTV of the two hoods abandoning it on Monday near Calderside Nursery Centre.
Extensive investigations are ongoing and officers are carrying out enquiries to trace three male suspects wearing dark clothing and face coverings.
In an appeal for information, Detective Superintendent Martin McGhee said: "We believe this was a targeted incident.
"We believe the car that was set on fire was also used in the earlier serious assault.
"We understand these incidents will be concerning for the community but please be assured we will bring those involved to justice."
The fresh details emerged as forensics teams were pictured scouring the area outside CS Accident Repair Garage in East Kilbride.
Convicted heroin dealer Robert Daniel, 50, a high-ranking member of the Glasgow clan, is a director.
Underworld sources say he was the target when blade thugs burst in but two other men, aged 45 and 41, were seriously wounded instead.

Steven Gerrard posed with Ross McGill when he left his role at the Union Bears.
We told how the hoods were acting on the orders of Dubai-based ex-Rangers ultra Ross McGill - said to be connected to bitter Daniel enemies, the Lyons family.
We unmasked McGill who was previously pictured with former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard when McGill left his role in 2021 as a leader in the Union Bears ultras group.
It was the latest escalation of a turf war that erupted in Edinburgh in March with firebombings and has spread across the central belt.
McGill's self-styled group Tamu Junto has claimed responsibility for a wave of firebombings across the central belt, targeting associates of jailed crime kingpin Mark Richardson, 38, and the Daniel family.

Madeleine McCann searches called to a halt after three days

The latest searches connected to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have ended. Search teams wound down the operation in Atalaia, near Lagos, Portugal, on Thursday, after three days of scouring scrubland and abandoned structures. Their efforts focused on a 120-acre stretch of land, using equipment such as chainsaws, diggers and a ground-penetrating radar. The operation comes 18 years after three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from nearby Praia da Luz while on holiday with her family in 2007. Maddie vanished after she was left sleeping while her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, went for dinner in a nearby restaurant. Officers involved in the latest searches held a debrief before leaving the site, and there was a round of applause before a crate of German beer was removed from one of the tents in the designated base area. Investigators have not revealed whether they have found anything of significance. Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the McCann case, is due to be released from prison in September. He is serving a sentence for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005. He has denied having any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance. If he is released, the convicted sex offender is expected to leave Germany for a country with no extradition treaty and lie low as he is so well known. The end of the search appears to dash any hopes of linking him to the case – at least for now. Earlier in the day, personnel could be seen holding pitchforks as they combed stretches of land. Pick-axes and shovels were used to dig some of the undergrowth and a digger was again used to remove rubble from one of the abandoned structures at the site. They spent the first two days of the search focusing on one particular derelict building. Investigators used ground-penetrating radar on the cobbled ground after clearing the area of debris and vegetation using a digger and chainsaws. British officers have not been present at the latest searches, the Metropolitan Police said. Madeleine's parents have not commented during the 'active police investigation', staff at the Find Madeleine Campaign said. More Trending German authorities requested the search as part of their continued attempts to source evidence to implicate Brueckner. In October last year, Brueckner was cleared by a German court of unrelated sexual offences, alleged to have taken place in Portugal between 2000 and 2017. In 2023, investigators carried out searches near the Barragem do Arade reservoir, about 30 miles from Praia da Luz. Brueckner spent time in the area between 2000 and 2017 and had photographs and videos of himself near the reservoir. Ex-West Lothian footballer jailed after £600k drug smuggling plot

More info An ex-Arsenal academy footballer has been jailed for four years for his involvement in a £600,000 drug smuggling plot after a court heard his financial difficulties after a period out of contract led to a "catastrophic error of judgment". Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was arrested after officers from the National Crime Agency seized an estimated £600,000 of cannabis as it was being brought through Stansted Airport by two women he had recruited - his girlfriend and her friend. An earlier hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex was told the women believed they were importing gold. But Border Force officers detected roughly 60kg (132lb) of the drug in two suitcases, which had arrived in the UK from Bangkok, Thailand, via Dubai. The 34-year-old striker, of Cardwell Road in Gourock, Inverclyde, was arrested in the town in September 2024. He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of cannabis between July 1 2024 and September 2 2024. Emmanuel-Thomas was sacked by Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton after his arrest last year. Prosecutor David Josse KC told Chelmsford Crown Court the "interception" of the two women - Emmanuel-Thomas's girlfriend Yasmin Piotrowska and her friend Rosie Rowland - happened at the airport. He said it "became apparent this defendant, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, had been involved in their recruitment to travel to Thailand". He noted Emmanuel-Thomas "had played a few games, 11 in total, for a club in Thailand". The barrister said Emmanuel-Thomas had "some awareness and understanding of the scale of the operation" and was acting in an "operational management function" in the plot. He pointed out the defendant's "relationship with Ms Piotrowska" when describing the recruitment of the two women. The footballer, whose former clubs include Ipswich, Bristol City, QPR, Livingston, Aberdeen and Thai side PTT Rayong, was sentenced on Thursday. Ms Piotrowska sat in the public gallery and wept for much of the hearing. Alex Rose, for Emmanuel-Thomas, said: "The financial gain in this case for Mr Emmanuel-Thomas was £5,000." Mr Rose said the defendant was a father-of-two and had made a "catastrophic error of judgment". He said a "period of being out of contract led to very significant financial hard times" and he "succumbed to temptation". "Although he had previously experienced periods of being in between contracts or - putting it another way - being unemployed as a footballer, they had largely been on the back of fairly lucrative long-term contracts," said Mr Rose. He said the "situation was rather different in the background to this". "Having been out of contract prior to signing for Greenock Morton, he had a brief contract with Kidderminster Harriers but that was very much a short-term contract, almost to try to assist someone he had a good relationship with," he said. Mr Rose continued: "His football career is finished and that's something he has brought entirely on himself. "It's a devastating blow for somebody who had such promise and such an impressive football career." Judge Alexander Mills, jailing Emmanuel-Thomas for four years, said: "It's through your own action that you will no longer be known for playing professional football. "You will be known as a criminal. A professional footballer who threw it all away." The judge said Emmanuel-Thomas had played five games for Greenock Morton and was on a £600 per week contract at the time of the incident. He said the defendant "recruited" his girlfriend and her friend and was "essentially turning the importation of cannabis into an all-expenses paid holiday in the Far East", arranging business class flights, hotel costs and discussing in messages how to maximise their time on the Thai island of Ko Samui. Emmanuel-Thomas looked straight ahead as the judge read out his sentence. He nodded towards the public gallery as he was led to the cells. Ms Piotrowska, 33, of Purves Road, Kensal Rise, north-west London, and Ms Rowland, 29, of Southend Road, Chelmsford, Essex, denied the charge and at an earlier hearing prosecutors offered no evidence in their case. Mr Josse said at an earlier hearing that the women "said they thought they were importing gold not cannabis", and the judge directed that not guilty verdicts be recorded for them.

Emmanuel-Thomas, 34, was playing for Morton at the time of his arrest in September last year. He was subsequently sacked by the Championship club. Last month, he pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court to fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of cannabis between July 1, 2024 and September 2, 2024. He was remanded in custody and was sentenced today. Emmanuel-Thomas has been jailed for four years. Judge Alexander Mills told the striker: "It is through your own actions you will no longer be known as a professional footballer." "You will be known as a criminal. A professional footballer who threw it all away." London-born Emmanuel-Thomas came through the academy system at Arsenal. He made it all the way to the first team and appeared in the Premier League. After a series of loan spells, Emmanuel-Thomas enjoyed spells with Ipswich, Bristol City and QPR. He had a spell abroad before joining Livingston in 2020. Emmanuel-Thomas, nicknamed JET, impressed and earned a move to Aberdeen. However, he couldn't replicate his success at Pittodrie and left after less than a year. He failed to score a league goal for the Dons. Emmanuel-Thomas returned to Scotland on a short-term deal in July 2024 before being sacked in mid-September after being charged over his role in the drugs plot. The court heard that the drugs were brought into the UK by the striker's girlfriend, Yasmin Piotrowski. She and Rosie Rowland had flown business class to Stansted on September 2. Emmanuel-Thomas was linked to the discovery by WhatsApp messages, voice notes and pictures. The court was told it was "apparent" he had recruited the women, who were cleared after prosecutors offered no evidence in their case. Emmanuel-Thomas had offered the women £2,500 plus a free holiday to Thailand. After Piotrowska was stopped by border officials, Emmanuel-Thomas messaged Rowland to tell her to "delete everything from our chat if you can". The footballer then travelled to East London on September 5 and replaced his mobile phone. He was dismissed by Morton a couple of weeks later when the situation came to light.
