Strictly star in floods of tears on Sunday Brunch as she admits 'I didn't want to quit'
The Strictly finalist was emotional as she appeared on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch.
Former Strictly finalist Maisie Smith couldn't contain her emotions when she was unexpectedly shown footage on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. The 24-year-old had triumphed in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins back in 2022, but had seemingly forgotten just how punishing the ordeal had been - and she simply couldn't hold back her tears.
Maisie confessed to hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy that the programme had been physically draining, explaining there was absolutely no respite. She confirmed that producers wouldn't permit the contestants any downtime even when filming had stopped, before acknowledging: "It was just so intense."
She also remembered being compelled "to carry 20kg of sand" in her rucksack for every challenge - a requirement that applied to all participants. The former EastEnders actress revealed this proved especially tough for her as she was lugging "almost double" her body weight each time, reports the Express.

Tim was eager to showcase Maisie in action from the show, as footage of the soap actress began playing. The clip captured Maisie during an utterly exhausting moment.
She was approaching the conclusion of a demanding task and was forced to battle her way up an enormous sand dune with the additional burden on her shoulders. It was clear the ex-Strictly contestant was finding it incredibly difficult.

Billy Billingham could be heard yelling at her: "Come on number 12," as she took tiny steps but refused to surrender. Billy bellowed: "I want to see you sprinting."
Responding to his encouragement, remarkably, Maisie discovered a reserve of strength from somewhere deep inside and started sprinting up the challenging sandy incline.

When the footage concluded and they returned to the studio, the television personality was clearly emotional. She battled to hold back her tears, saying to the presenters: "Sorry, I don't know why I am crying."
As she dabbed at her eyes, Maisie explained: "I was so young and it was such a big challenge." Becoming tearful once more, she shared with the hosts: "They always called me the pocket rocket. I was so slow and I never gave up."

Between her tears, she continued: "I just didn't want be the girl that quits; I'm very proud of myself." Marking this triumphant memory, Maisie also disclosed that she held the record as both the shortest and lightest contestant ever to claim victory on the programme.
Tim provided some reassurance to Maisie, saying: "You should be so proud of yourself." The conversation then shifted to her participation in Strictly - another remarkable accomplishment as she reached the final with professional partner Gorka Marquez in 2020.
Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday, from 10am.

April dragged into a shocking crime in Emmerdale as she faces grave danger
Dylan Pender's (Fred Kettle) Emmerdale return has seen him bring trouble with him trouble and lies to April Windor's (Amelia Flanagan) door and the upshot is she's put in grave danger. Dylan isn't inherently bad, he's just down on his luck, but has been dragged into working with drug dealer Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), and though while he's trying to extricate himself from his associations with the bad man, Ray has other ideas. Dylan thinks he's getting out, Ray is secretly pulling him back in. And he's got his eye on April too. As April's 16th approaches, it's a big deal but Marlon (Mark Charnock) feels displaced. Dylan is now the flavour of the month for April; she's outgrown her dad. But that's largely because her birthday wish centres around one thing – sleeping with Dylan. She gets her wish, during which Dylan misses a call from Ray. Mandy (Lisa Riley) catches them post-coital and informs on them to Marlon, going directly against the no snitching code of the Dingles – and Marlon is gutted. Rhona (Zoe Henry) helps him see that April needs to be able to make her own choices. It's cringes all round though when April learns that her dad knows she had sex. That will all turn out to be small fry problems when Ray demands that Dylan does another job for him. April finds out about it and realises Dylan has continued to lie. She also realises he is caught up in something very dark. More Trending She gives him permission to go ahead but is hit with a shocker when Dylan reveals it's her Ray wants to complete the job, not him. EastEnders confirms return story for popular character but sadness soon follows
EastEnders' Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) is poised to return to Walford this week after an extended break – but she's set to arrive home amid further unhappiness for her mum Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). Lily was last seen leaving Albert Square to spend time with her biological father Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) back in May. Her exit had followed a particularly fraught period in her relationship with Stacey, who'd struggled to step up as a parent amid her grief for her beloved Martin Fowler (James Bye) following his death in the Queen Vic explosion earlier this year. While Stacey has since managed to get her life back on track, fresh drama kicks off just as she is preparing to welcome Lily home. Forthcoming scenes see Stacey's excitement at her daughter's homecoming short-lived when Jean and Freddie Slater (Gillian Wright and Bobby Brazier) reveal that someone leaked her SecretCam pictures and videos online. Fans of the BBC soap will remember that Stacey started making adult content on a subscription platform when she was struggling to make ends meet back in 2023, which also led to her gaining a stalker in the form of creepy teacher Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis). Horrified that the images have now been leaked, Stacey quickly concludes that Joel Marshall (Max Murray) is responsible following his recent behaviour. Last week saw the teenage incel start plotting revenge against Stacey for slapping him after he unleashed a vile rant about her past and Lily's teenage pregnancy. It comes after Myleene, 47, claimed she saw Graham and an unnamed celebrity 'unzipping' each other at her birthday party. Last week, we told how Myleene was locked in a feud with Rochelle and Saturdays' bandmate Frankie Bridge, who were both clients of Graham. Rochelle and her JLS pop star husband Marvin were also pictured with Graham in Ibiza. A source last night told The Sun: 'Rochelle was doing what she saw as looking out for a friend in a time of need. 'Rochelle and Marvin are still clearly very much friends with Graham. "Myleene is of the view that Rochelle took sides from the beginning of her marriage breakdown. "The fact Rochelle and Graham's friendship is still there after all these years has put an everlasting rift between Myleene and Rochelle. 'They both do everything in their power to avoid each other.' Rochelle and Frankie, 36, previously enjoyed a close friendship with Classic FM host Myleene. Watch the awkward moment feuding stars Myleene Klass and Frankie Bridge come face to face on live TV In 2012, Myleene and Frankie, both hosts on Loose Women, attended Rochelle's hen do. But they have not appeared together on the ITV show since an awkward episode last year. The alleged unzipping incident is said to have happened before Myleene and Graham married. The couple — who share daughters Ava, 17, and 13-year-old Hero — wed in 2011 and divorced two years later, with Myleene citing 'unreasonable behaviour'. The Sun on Sunday reported yesterday that Graham said he had been stopped from seeing his children since 2014 and had suffered from depression. Representatives for Rochelle and Myleene did not reply to a request for comment yesterday.
