Fans of the Netflix series One Piece are rejoicing as it gets the season three greenlight before the second season has even come out.
The hit live-action adaptation of the popular anime had a hugely successful first season, totting up 72 million views (and becoming the third most-watched TV show of 2023 overall).
Now the trailer for the second season, starring Inaki Godoy and Emily Rudd, has finally dropped, confirming it will return in 2026, three years after it initially came out.
The series, which has garnered an exceptionally loyal and sprawling fanbase over the years, follows young pirate Monkey D. Luffy 'with his straw hat and ragtag crew [who] goes on an epic voyage for treasure.'
As shown in the epic new trailer, the highly anticipated new episodes have plenty more peril in store for our swash-buckling heroes in their pursuit of greatness.

The official synopsis promises 'fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet'.
It continues: 'Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line – a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn.
'As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world's greatest treasure, they'll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.'
Netflix have ramped up the excitement by confirming season three is on the way with production to start later this year in South Africa's capital Cape Town as Ian Stokes joins Joe Tracz as co-showrunner.
The streaming service, which has made a name for itself for cancelling shows, has been praised by fans for backing the vision and greenlighting a third season early.
Rather than leaving everyone on tenterhooks.
'This actually so tuff, I hope they keep pumping out seasons like this for a while,' X user smoked_sanji shared.

'One Piece already getting renewed for a third season (before S2 is even out) has cured my depression for a little while,' groundhogjay_ agreed.
After an agonisingly long wait (and a while still to go) fans have only request for the third season.
'I swear to god, season three better not take another three years,' allelite_kal declared.
'Hopefully this means that this one won't take three years to release as well,' Zentaya agreed.
'Very happy to see season 3 already be renewed, but it'll probably take another 2 years after season 2 for it to come out,' andraws_67 shared their concern. More Trending
There's plenty more source material to draw inspiration from for future seasons with the original TV series, which premiered in 1999, marking over 1,100 episodes and counting.
Fans can look forward to the introduction of characters like Dr Kunhera with executive producer Matt Owens previously sharing: 'When the Season 2 writers' room got together, we knew how far we were going to get and that this character Dr. Kureha was going to be a big part of the season.'
We'll also meet the beloved reindeer-boy hybrid Tony Tony Chopper so there is lots to be excited about.

Prince Harry's call leaves Meghan in 'floods of tears' after Prince William move

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Following the breakdown of their parents' marriage and the devastating loss of their mother, Princes William and Harry seemed inseparable, supporting one another through their grief. Yet today, the feuding brothers find themselves entrenched in a bitter dispute as they pursue separate paths across the Atlantic. The fracture in their relationship reached its peak after Harry wed Meghan Markle - with the couple finding it difficult to adjust to Royal expectations. In the Sussexes' explosive Netflix series, Harry and Meghan, the pair targeted William and described a crucial moment that Harry claims left him enraged and his wife distraught. The conflict emerged when Harry refused to authorise a joint palace statement rejecting bullying allegations - which he maintains created a rift between the siblings. This development coincides with reports that Harry and Meghan's recent efforts to "build bridges and move on" have reportedly failed, according to a prominent Royal commentator. Speaking over footage of the brothers playing in an old fire engine and newspaper headlines documenting the animosity in their relationship during episode five, Harry revealed in the programme: "I mean, the saddest part of it was this wedge created between me and my brother so that he's now on the institution's side," reports the Mirror. "And I get, part of that I get. I understand right? That's his inheritance, so to some extent it's already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and the continuation of this institution. "That day, a story came out that part of the reason why Meghan and I were leaving was because William had bullied us out. And once I got in the car after the meeting, I was told about a joint statement that had been put out in my name and my brother's name squashing the story about him bullying us out of the family. "I couldn't believe it. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. And I rang M and I told her and she burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us." It emerges as King Charles and Harry's senior aides convened for a clandestine peace summit in London last month, which is being described as the inaugural significant move in a 'rapprochement process' aimed at mending fractured relationships. The Mail on Sunday disclosed that Meredith Maines, the Duke of Sussex's chief communications officer, made an impromptu trip from LA to meet with Tobyn Andreae, the King's communications secretary, at the exclusive Royal Over-Seas League club, a mere stone's throw from Clarence House, the King's London abode. Liam Maguire, who heads Prince Harry's UK PR operations, was also in attendance. An insider informed the newspaper: "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in year. There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about." Despite Prince William's team allegedly not being invited to the unexpected summit, specialists have disclosed the covert influence he likely exerted behind the scenes concerning the monarchy's future. Experts suggest that although William seems less inclined towards reconciliation with his estranged brother, whom he's reportedly not communicated with for years, the meeting would not have occurred without his 'support and understanding'. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams informed Mail Online: "The King would never have made these moves without William's support and understanding. William and Catherine are the future of the monarchy. "He has undoubtedly been furious at the way the Sussexes have behaved and undoubtedly regards Harry's behaviour as treason of a sort. They reportedly have not spoken in over two years.'". Additionally, Royal author Phil Dampier remarked: "The King is more anxious to patch things up than William, who I believe will never be close to his brother again." Harry is set to return to the UK in September for the annual WellChild events, which might present an opportunity for him to meet his father after 18 months. However, William does not seem to have any intentions to meet his brother, despite the ongoing peace discussions.

Doctor Who star's show dropped from UK streaming service confirms ITV launch

More than a year after it was pulled off Paramount Plus, a mystery drama starring Jodie Whittaker is returning to UK screens. A month after it aired in Australia, the series One Night was made available to UK viewers in November 2024. The six-part series followed friends Tess (Jodie), Simone (Nicole da Silva) and Hat (Yael Stone), whose lives have been changed by 'the traumatic events of one night in their hometown twenty years previously'. It was teased of the show: 'One Night is the story of three women whose bond was all but destroyed by the traumatic events of one night 20 years ago. 'Since then, Simone has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. 'But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess (Jodie Whittaker) and Hat (Yael Stone), her two childhood best friends. 'As it becomes harder to prise fact from fiction, one person's memory and story from another's, the book threatens to derail all their friendships, bringing old traumas to the surface of the small coastal community where they grew up, and stirring its perpetrators, who want to make it all go away.' Despite it being labelled a 'very solid crime drama' by critics, One Night suddenly disappeared from Paramount after just three months. It was explained at the time that this was due to the platform reportedly shifts towards a focus on Hollywood-style content with mass appeal and wider cost-savings efforts. However, ITV has now announced it will be bringing the show back and allowing viewers to tune in again – or for the first time. One Night will now stream in full from Saturday August 16 and will also air that night on ITV1. At the time of its release, The Guardian wrote the following about One Night: 'The overall effect is very much of an Australian Big Little Lies – a female-centred story played out mostly amongst affluent people in shiny clothes and shinier houses.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'With strong performances and a diverse cast, it demands attention — but its biggest triumph may just be in the conversations it sparks after its watched,' The London Evening Standard shared. 'The show might have benefitted from unspooling its central narrative over fewer episodes because after the halfway mark the drama becomes less character-driven, skating into crime mystery territory. But the acting throughout One Night is incredible,' The Age added. One Night was the first TV role since playing the first female Doctor for Jodie. Reflecting on what drew her to the project, the 41-year-old actress explained that the drama depicted a story about sexual assault in a way that felt 'completely unique' to her. 'What made this completely unique to me and completely engrossing was the change of POV [point of view],' she told Metro. 'Very often it's told from outside in – there's an investigation, there's detectives, there's people working things out. This is about the decimation something like that can have. 'It's also about how the event – whether it happened a minute ago or 20 years ago – is defining for a group of women that it affects, particularly this friendship group. But also what it's about is how we all survive something like that and who owns memory, who has the right to tell stories, and especially if that story is true.' More Trending One Night was created and written by the award-winning Emily Ballou (The Slap, Taboo) and directed by Catherine Millar (The Twelve, The Secrets She Keeps) and Lisa Matthews (Doctor Doctor). It also stars Kat Stewart, George Mason, Erroll Shand, Noni Hazlehurst, Tina Bursill (Doctor Doctor), William Zappa, Damien Strouthos and Jillian Nguyen. One Night is streaming on ITVX from Saturday August 16. It will air that night at 9.30pm on ITV1. View More » A version of this article was originally published on February 5, 2024. Got a story?
