Nilambur bypoll win not UDF's victory, says BJP leader P.K. Krishnadas
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive committee member P.K. Krishnadas on Monday dismissed the United Democratic Front's (UDF) bypoll victory in Nilambur as not a triumph for the Congress-led front, but for what he termed a 'terrorist organisation', Jamaat-e-Islami.
'This is not a victory for the UDF. It is a victory for Jamaat-e-Islami. The UDF and the LDF both witnessed a drop in their vote share, while the BJP-led front recorded an increase,' Mr. Krishnadas said at a press conference in Kannur.
He alleged that both the major fronts secured votes based on caste equations and accused them of compromising with extremist elements.
He said the BJP would soon launch a campaign across the State to expose the 'terrorist positions' and appeasement politics of both the UDF and LDF.
'We will take the truth to the people,' he said.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar questions Kavitha's credibility on BC issues
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar questioned the credibility of BRS MLC K. Kavitha to speak on Backward Classes (BC) issues after what he termed a decade of neglect during the BRS regime. Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan along with MLC Dayakar, he asked, 'Did Ms. Kavitha ever raise her voice for BCs when BRS was in power? If not, what moral right does she now have.' He also expressed his admiration for Rajya Sabha MP and BC leader R. Krishnaiah, urging him not to align with leaders who had 'ignored the weaker sections for years.' 'I speak to you as a younger brother. Let's meet the Prime Minister together. You fix the appointment, we will be there,' he said. Mr. Ponnam Prabhakar further urged political leaders to rise above party lines for BC welfare. 'Whether it is KCR or the demons surrounding him, if anyone truly cares about BCs, let them walk with us. Let us go beyond politics for the welfare of the 56%,' he said. He lauded the commitment of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress leader was continuously raising the BC issues and bringing the nation's attention to them. 'From CM Revanth Reddy to TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, every leader in the Cabinet is clear in their resolve. The Congress is working with sincerity and not giving political colour to this issue,' he said. He said Mr. Revanth Reddy was correcting the decade-long neglect of the BRS and the BC bill, aiming at securing socio-political empowerment was an indication of it.

Trinamool Congress's Alifa Ahmed wins Kailganj bypoll, defeats BJP's Ashish Ghosh
Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Alifa Ahmed has won the Kaliganj Assembly bypoll in West Bengal's Nadia district by a massive margin of 50,049 votes, defeating her nearest BJP rival, Ashish Ghosh. The by-election was held following the death of her father and former MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed in February this to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Alifa secured 1,02,759 votes, while BJP's Ashish Ghosh received 52,710 votes. The Congress-Left-supported candidate, Kabil Uddin Shaikh, came third with 28,348 Alifa received around 9,000 votes less than her father's 1,11,696 votes in 2021, her winning margin increased. Nasiruddin had won by 46,987 votes in the last election, whereas Alifa surpassed that, seemingly due to a split in votes between BJP and Congress-Left candidates. Outside the counting centre, Alifa thanked voters for their support. She said, "This victory is because of people's love and faith in Mamata Banerjee's development politics."Responding to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's claim that Hindus didn't vote for TMC, Alifa said, 'I do not agree. We received significant leads from some Hindu-majority areas.'She added, 'We did not target votes from any particular community. We approached all voters.
