Sarzameen director Kayoze Irani reveals he cut Kajol's role based on suggestions from the Indian Army: ‘For sensitivity reasons…'

Kajol, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran's latest film Sarzameen, which released on JioHotstar on 25th July, has not been well received. While the film has gotten bad reviews, many have also been upset over Kajol's limited screen time in the film. Recently, in a conversation with Zoom, Kayoze Iranoi revealed that he had to cut out a crucial chunk from Kajol's character in the film. There was a flashback sequence that explained her character arc, which had to be dropped from the final cut. Kayoze revealed that the deletion of this part was deliberate after they got feedback from the Indian Army. Also Read: Sarzameen: Ibrahim Ali Khan's terrible film accidentally gets you to root for a terrorist to kill a soldier, and you can't even deny it In the interview, Kayoze explained that Kajol's character couldn't be explored in depth due to a request from the Indian Army. He said that her scenes were cut not due to time constraints but because they wanted to be secured by the Indian Army. He had shown the film to them and also shared the script in order to get their permission for the release. And it was due to 'sensitivity reasons' that Kajol's part was removed. Kayoze also recalled how, when he had shown the rough edit to the Indian Army while in Delhi, they had strongly reacted to it. They sat with the team for 35 to 40 minutes, suggesting how the screenplay could be improvised and nuances could be gotten right. One strong requirement from them was that the story 'be faithful to the men in uniform.' Earlier in a conversation with SCREEN, Kajol had spoken about her character in Sarzameen and said, 'In this film, I took a toll on my knees because Kayoze insisted that for every shot I had to start crying and keep falling on my knees. I got irritated with him, every scene I couldn't keep falling just because it was written in the script, eventually I was like, what kind of a character is she that she keeps falling to her knees every five minutes.' Sarzameen marks Kayoze Irani's directorial debut and is Ibrahim Ali Khan's second film after Naadaniyaan.

Khushboo Patani calls out Aniruddhacharya aka Pookie Baba's controversial remark about women, says 'all namards...'

Aniruddhacharya, the spiritual leader widely known as "Pookie Baba," recently drew criticism for his controversial statements about women and live-in relationships. Although he later issued a public apology in response to the backlash, it failed to silence his critics. One of the most vocal responses came from Khushboo Patani, who openly condemned his remarks and challenged his intentions. Khushboo Patani calls out Aniruddhacharya for controversial remark The controversy began when spiritual leader Aniruddhacharya, also known as "Pookie Baba," was allegedly heard in a video telling his followers, 'Kehta hai, ladke laate hain 25 saal ki ladkiyon ko, jo 4-5 jagah mooh maar ke aati hain.' The statement triggered widespread outrage, with actress and influencer Khushboo Patani emerging as one of his harshest critics. 😡🔥 In a now-viral video, Khushboo condemned his remarks, saying, 'Agar ye mere saamne hota, to mai isko samjha deti ki mooh maarna kya hota hai. These are anti-nationalists. You should not be supporting such bards of the highest order. All the fug naamards of this society are following this bard.' She went on to question the gendered nature of his comment, asking why women in live-in relationships were being targeted while the men were left unmentioned. 'He says ladkiyan jo live-in mein rehti hain, mooh maar ke aati hain. Why didn't he say that men in live-in relationships do the same? Does a woman live alone in a live-in relationship? And what's wrong with being in a live-in anyway?' she added. Aniruddhacharya apologises for his comment after backlash In a video message shared on social media on Saturday, Aniruddhacharya issued an apology but clarified that his remarks were directed at 'some women, not all.' He claimed that crucial parts of his statement were deliberately edited out before the video went viral, suggesting it was done to misrepresent his words and spread a misleading narrative. Who is Aniruddhacharya? Aniruddhacharya Maharaj, originally named Anirudh Ram Tiwari (also known as Anirudh Tiwari), was born on September 27, 1989, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
