UP Cong to prepare ground for party in all 403 Assebly seats
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Congress on Wednesday decided that the party would prepare ground for the 2027 state assembly elections in all the 403 constituencies.
"The resolution passed by the party in Ahmedabad declared 2025 as the year of organisational rebuilding. To implement the plan, the party decided to prepare ground in all the 403 seats," the All-India Congress Committee in-charge for UP, Avinash Pande, told TOI.
Asked about the fate of INDIA bloc in the 2027 Vidhan Sabha election, he said: "That will depend on the decision taken by our party brass. The fact that Congress is committed to standing by the people of India is our guiding principle. Therefore, we must strengthen our district and city units to ensure its implementation in letter and spirit."
He clarified that decisions on alliances for 2027 taken by the party brass would be adhered to by party workers across all levels.

During the crucial meeting of the party's political committee on Wednesday, UP in-charge Avinash Pande, state unit president Ajay Rai, and other party workers paid tribute to tourists massacred in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The party members condemned the attack and observed a two-minute silence to pray for the bereaved families before holding discussions. In his opening remarks, Rai outlined the primary objectives of the meeting and passed the resolution for the creation and training of cadre down to the booth level for the 2027 battle. Addressing the newly appointed district and city presidents, Pande said, "The party top brass has reposed its trust in you, and the responsibility on your shoulders calls for embracing discipline and dedication to strengthen and fortify the organisation in your individual unit."
He advised them to develop a work plan of activities and submit it to the leadership. "The district executive must be formed by May 15, block-level executive by June 15, and appointment of BLAs at booths by Aug 15," he said.
Accusing the BJP of indulging in personal vendetta, Pande said, "In the current era, when the BJP is crossing all political boundaries and decency, and the govt is willing to break all limits of personal vendetta, the challenges before you all have increased."
Citing the Enforcement Directorate action in the National Herald case, he said: "The entire matter is a state-sponsored crime under the guise of law. The ongoing investigations against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are nothing but gross misuse of state machinery."
He urged workers and district leaders to organise a Gandhian protest outside all BJP offices on Apr 25 to send a message that they were not scared of the BJP. The party has fixed Apr 28 as the date to launch 'Save the Constitution' campaign from Basti district.
The campaign is aimed at holding protests against the BJP govt "for continuously weakening constitutional institutions, fabricating false cases against party leadership, undermining the parliamentary process, and imposing restrictions on freedom of expression".

Bihar SC Commission sends notice to Lalu for 'disrespecting' Ambedkar
The Bihar State Commission for Scheduled Castes has issued a notice to RJD president Lalu Prasad for allegedly disrespecting Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The Commission has given the former chief minister 15 days to respond, warning that failure to do so could lead to legal proceedings. Talking to PTI, Bihar SC Commission vice-chairman Devendra Kumar said a notice was issued to Lalu Prasad seeking an explanation over the alleged incident. "The Commission has given Prasad 15 days to respond and warned that failure to do so could result in action under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act," he added. The controversy erupted after a video, purportedly recorded during Lalu Prasad's 78th birthday celebrations earlier this week, went viral. In the clip, the ailing leader is seen seated on a couch with his feet on a nearby sofa. A supporter then enters the room carrying a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar and places it near Prasad's feet before greeting him. The act drew sharp criticism from political opponents. On Saturday, the BJP accused the RJD chief of insulting the Dalit icon. Addressing a press conference, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, a former state BJP president, played the video, demanding accountability. On Sunday, saffron party workers staged a protest and burnt an effigy of Prasad at Income Tax Golumber here. Responding to the notice, Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the opposition in Bihar Assembly and Lalu Prasad's son, dismissed the move as politically motivated. "There have been so many cases of atrocities against Dalits that the Commission has ignored. But since we oppose the BJP, we are being subjected to intimidatory tactics," he said. He further mocked the Commission's process, claiming that a copy of the notice had not yet been officially received. "The draft that's doing the rounds contains multiple grammatical errors. We've also learned that the letter has been withdrawn twice for corrections. We'll respond appropriately once the Commission finishes drafting and formally dispatches it," he added. Yadav also took aim at the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, accusing it of using state commissions as platforms for political favoritism ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. "In the recently formed commissions, relatives of top NDA leadersincluding from JD(U)have been appointed. Several competent individuals across Bihar were overlooked," he alleged. He further claimed that wives of retired bureaucrats close to the Chief Minister had been accommodated in these commissions, and that children of such officials had set up consultancy firms now working with various government departments. "Frankly speaking, the unconscious Chief Minister and his NDA allies have created what I would call a Jamai Commission' in Biharwhere sons-in-law, relatives, and children of alliance leaders are being handed posts," Tejashwi said. BJP ally Tipra Motha seeks PM's intervention for 'pushing back' illegal immigrants in Tripura
BJP ally Tipra Motha Party (TMP) sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to send back illegal Bangladeshi immigrants living in Tripura. Senior TMP leader and Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma told PTI that following the directives of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), states like Gujarat, Assam and Meghalaya took swift action. "Illegal migrants were detained, flown to various border areas and pushed back to their country of origin. This has not been done in Tripura as was expected," he said. With this demand, a 15-member delegation of the TMP, led by Mr. Debbarma, met Governor N. Indrasena Reddy on Saturday (June 14, 2025) and handed over a memorandum, seeking the PM's intervention. Mr. Debbarma said the TMP urged the PM to send a task force to the state. "We also urged for the setting up of a mechanism, involving the Assam Rifles, CRPF and the State police to detect, detain and push back illegal migrants," he said. 'Demographic change' Expressing concern over "demographic change" in the state, Mr. Debbarma said, "As per government records, the state accepted 6,09,000 people who had migrated from Bangladesh for various reasons during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. An accord was signed with a cut-off date of March 24, 1971, for the identification of illegal migrants." A Mobile Task Force (MTF) was also raised under the Tripura Police with a separate budget for detection and deportation of all the illegal migrants, but the problem persists, he said.

Raise voice against communalism and fight for jobs, youths told
Mangaluru: Communalism has endangered the peace, harmony, and unity of the coastal region. In a dire situation where unemployed youth are being misused for this communal agenda, young people must unite and strongly voice their demands for employment, education, and health, which are essential for a dignified life, said DYFI Karnataka state secretary Basavaraj Pujar. He spoke at the inauguration of a two-day Dakshina Kannada district-level youth organisation workshop under the theme 'Create jobs, protect from unemployment, prioritise locals in employment', at Kalangann in the city on Sunday. The Congress govt in Karnataka failed to curb communalism, which is disrupting the harmonious life of the coastal region's people. The public must defeat this vile politics that sacrifices common people for political gain through unity, he said. The BJP govt at the Centre, which came to power with the promise of creating two crore jobs annually, betrayed the country's youth by not generating employment. There are about ten lakh vacancies in various central govt departments, including the military. Instead of filling these permanently, they are outsourcing work without providing any legal protection, security, or pension, deceiving people. The central govt is not taking any measures to address the growing unemployment problem. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Meanwhile, the state govt is not taking steps to fill over 2.5 lakh vacant positions, he said. In one of the guarantee schemes, the Yuva Nidhi scheme, the state's youth are being deceived, he said. "It is unfair to consider only those who graduated or completed a diploma in the previous year as unemployed and offer them merely Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500, respectively. The govt should provide a minimum monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 12,000 as compensation for its failure to provide jobs to unemployed youth," he demanded. In the coming days, DYFI is planning a large-scale movement for the right to employment, and all youth should be prepared, he added.
