Who is Hayley in EastEnders and what happened to her?

Metro2 days ago
Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) has told a multitude of lies to cover his tracks in EastEnders – with wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) currently believing that he's been searching for former Albert Square resident Hayley Slater.
As we all know, he's actually been on the lookout for Kat's estranged daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who fled London for Barcelona after telling him that she'd done something 'so bad' that her family would disown her.
Initially saying that he was in Australia visiting brother Spencer (Christopher Parker), the fib unravelled and Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was forced to cover again.
She said that Alfie had suffered a cancer scare, and was in Spain trying to clear his head.
However, in the last week, he reached out to Stace' to ask for €50,000 in order to pay off some dodgy fellas that had information on Zoe. She initially agreed, but was full of regret after promising the cash to Kat, who planned to use it as a deposit on The Queen Vic.
Stacey's mum Jean (Gillian Wright) got wind of something suspicious happening, and assumed that the money was actually going to go to Hayley and her daughter Cherry.
Stacey changed her mind on handing over the dough to Alfie, realising that it would be better spent by Kat. But as she set up home behind the bar, Jean dropped Hayley into conversation, and Kat was left furious.
But who is Hayley, and what does she have to do with Alfie?
Hayley Slater, played by actress Katie Jarvis, is the first cousin of Stacey. This makes her a distant cousin of Kat.
She arrived in Walford in 2018, concealing a pregnancy from her family. It soon transpired that the father of the child was none other than Alfie! He told her that his heart was still with Kat, and he didn't want to have her child.
After arranging an appointment at an abortion clinic, she got drunk and forgot to attend.
Later, she went into labour and decided to drive herself out of the area in her uncle Charlie's (Derek Martin) taxi. The vehicle broke down and she was forced to give birth in a drug den.
Shortly afterwards, Alfie reunited with Kat and was stunned to learn that she hadn't aborted her pregnancy after all. Her child was his daughter.
They named her Cherry after his late mum.
Hayley decided to leave when Stacey discovered Cherry's paternity and saw her kissing Alfie. She left a lock of the child's hair with Alfie, which was later discovered by Kat.

A huge row broke out and Alfie was knocked down the staircase, seemingly to his death. As the cousins discussed their action plan, they realised that Alfie had survived and ran off with his daughter. More Trending
They eventually returned and in the aftermath, Hayley attempted to take her own life by stepping in front of a minibus and stabbing herself with a screwdriver.

Emmerdale fans 'beyond done' with two 'detested' characters

These opinions were expressed about Joe Tate and Dawn Fletcher, who had been involved in an affair storyline in recent months. However, some viewers have grown particularly tired of Joe's involvement in the ITV soap. Taking to the r/Emmerdale Reddit page, one fan captioned a post: "Beyond done with Joe AND Dawn ... can they please just go to Dubai as well and like, never come back??" They added: "Soaps need their villains, I completely understand that. And I love a great villain character and arc. But this "person" - I don't think I've detested a character more. And if that is the goal ... BRAVO Emmerdale! "Frankly he (and Dawn) just make me want to turn off the screen when they are on. I used to just fast forward, but there are storylines that involve other characters now, so I just suffer through LOL. "Honestly, he didn't annoy me this much during his first stint (thank goodness there was Graham); but he is an absolutely horrendous, morally bankrupt, irredeemable, soulless creature." Emmerdale fans criticise "joke character" of Joe Tate Plenty of Emmerdale fans seemed to agree with the original post, sharing their thoughts in the comments. One said: "Joe and Dawn together ruins both of their characters for me. Dawn's main positive trait was that she really cared about her kids and now that's been shattered. Her picking him over her children makes her so unlikeable. "Likewise Joe playing happy families also makes him look irredeemably awful because he obviously has no real care for those kids at all. It's so inauthentic and I can't wait for it to be over." Another shared: "Also they don't have a single spark of attraction or chemistry from day one, definitely doesn't help. "Joe has been a joke character since he came back." One viewer seemed to think Joe's storylines were intended for another character, as they explained: "I honestly think that this story was meant for Jamie (without Dawn arc) but they did not get the actor to come back. "That's why it feels little off joe's character compared what he was. I see Jamie here alot! He was always a whiny little brat!" Another was frustrated by the degradation of Dawn's character, as they wrote: "Didn't Dawn have a 'job'? She used to do something for Home Farm and then she was at Take a Vow (Joe conning an investment/take over). Recommended reading:

Emmerdale teens targeted by villain in dark new story

If anyone was unsure that Ray (Joe Absolom) is a shady character, the way he is about to target a vulnerable Emmerdale teen will help solidify things in any questioning mind. The fact he's a menacing drug dealer is a clue to this man's darkness, but he'll demonstrate just how deep his levels go when his young employee Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) tells him no. Dylan was last seen leaving the village heading for rehab with the promise of an improved life but returned by doing over Moira Dingle's (Natalie J Robb) barn on Ray's say so, only to end up getting stabbed by Kyle (Huey Quinn) brandishing a pitchfork. Now he's in a bad way with an infected wound hiding out in the Cricket Pavillion and it's dawned on him that working for Ray isn't the smartest move. April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) tries to get him to see a doctor, but he refuses, so they go with the next best option – to raid the vets for medical supplies. In their mission to do their own surgery, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) catches them, but takes pity on the pair and helps Dylan himself. He even offers him a bed for the night. Ray catches up with Dylan and tells him about some future jobs he's got lined up and in turn Dylan shows him the stash of drugs he's got. But that's as far as Dylan wants to take it. More Trending The next morning while at breakfast with Paddy and Mandy, Dylan ignores texts from Ray. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? He can only ignore him for so long though and later he has to run rings around April to get her off his back so that he can make the drugs drop. He thinks it's his last drugs drop for Ray. But you don't say no to a thug like Ray, so when Dylan turns down a job and Ray is happy to accept it, things become unsettling. While the teen thinks he's finally getting out of it, Ray absolutely intends to keep him well in. View More » Creepy Ray is seen spying on Dylan and April together as they walk through the village. Sparks sizzle between EastEnders' Johnny and Callum - but a warning is issued

EastEnders' Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) may have slammed the brakes on son-in-law Callum Highway (Tony Clay) affair with Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), but they just can't keep away from each other next week. The pair hooked up last month after sharing a surprise kiss during the Pride event at The Albert, which effectively ended Johnny's romance with recently departed Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison). Callum was wracked with guilt about sleeping with Johnny as he is still married to Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), who is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for fraud in the States. While that didn't stop Callum going back for more, their secret affair was soon uncovered by Ben's furious father Phil, who violently attacked Johnny. Since then, the pair have cooled things off, with Callum insisting he is committed to waiting for Ben. However, things begin to heat up again in forthcoming scenes as Callum flirts over text with Johnny, who is away on a cruise with his mum Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and his younger siblings. As Callum later enjoys a girl's day with stepdaughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), who is upset following a phone call with dad Ben, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) pales when he spots the flirty exchange on Callum's phone. Jay warns his friend off going there again with Johnny, but will Callum listen to reason? Last seen in March 2024, it was recently reported that actor Max Bowden is set to reprise his role as Ben for a guest stint ahead of a potential full-time return.
