BBC Bake Off's Prue Leith shares work incident 'so awful' she should have lost her career
The beloved BBC presenter opened up about a huge mistake she made early in her career
Dame Prue Leith has made a shocking admission about the early days of her career which she said should have ended her culinary dreams there and then.
The Great British Bake Off star appeared on ITV's Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh on Sunday morning (April 27). The show also welcomed Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell and her partner, social media star Joe Sugg.
Just minutes in to the episode, Prue dropped a bombshell about her past which left her fellow guests open-mouthed.

Host Alan asked Prue if she had ever experienced any "disasters" at work after highlighting guest Joe's now legendary appearance on Celebrity Bake Off in 2020 where he fainted after cutting his finger while chopping. A clip of the incident on Channel 4's YouTube account now has nearly two million views.
Prue said the incident happened 'before health and safety'

Prue was quick to think of one work disaster that happened in the "days before health and safety", and took everyone by surprise with the shocking tale.
"Do you know the very first disaster that I had as a caterer was so awful that I should have really given up catering," she began. "This was in the days before health and safety, I hasten to say."
Continuing the anecdote, the 85-year-old shared: "My cat used to sit on the windowsill and watch me bake. If he got bored, he would jump right off. He never touched the counter, he would jump from the windowsill onto the floor.
"One day a guy rang up and said 'Do you have an animal called [inaudible]?' I said 'Oh my God is he stuck on your roof?' because my cat was always getting stuck on other people's rooves."
Dianne and Joe were stunned by Prue's admission

However, Prue's client didn't have evidence of the cat on his property, but actually in his food. In a shock admission, the presenter revealed the man had actually found a cat collar in his trifle.
"I said 'Yes, that's my cat, is he stuck on your roof?' and he said 'No, no, his collar tag is stuck in my trifle." The revelation sparked groans of "Oh no" from Alan, Dianne and Joe, with Dianne covering her mouth in shock.

Prue continued: "Obviously he had been jumping off the windowsill and shed his collar tag."

Queen Camilla has leading role in her favourite author's latest murder mystery
Both Queen Camilla and King Charles are featured in the new royal whodunnit, written by Peter James, whom Her Majesty has openly named as her favourite crime author Queen Camilla is to star in her favourite author's latest murder mystery - and has even helped with the plot. Her Majesty, 77, has a central role in The Hawk Is Dead: A Killer In The Palace, which sees a detective investigate a murder at Buckingham Palace. Camilla has openly named the author, Peter James, as her top crime writer and forged a friendship with him in the past 10 years. It is said Camilla is "thrilled" to have a leading role in the book, due for release in October, written some time after the Queen Consort had suggested her friend set his legendary Brighton-based detective's latest case in London. His books have been made into an ITV drama series Grace, staring John Simm as the eponymous detective superintendent. "Fortunately, no one is likely to be more thrilled to find themselves taking a leading role in their own royal whodunnit than Her Majesty," writes Daily Mail's royal editor, Rebecca English, in today's publication. King Charles also features in the book, which tells the tale of a detective exploring what they believe to be a assassination attempt at Buckingham Palace. Publishers Pan Macmillan said: "Opening with a cinematic derailment of the Royal Train, The Hawk Is Dead takes Roy Grace deep into the heart of Buckingham Palace, where he is called upon to solve a murder and what looks to be a royal assassination attempt." "Queen Camilla, a well-known book lover and reading champion through her charity The Queen's Reading Room, has always been one of the first people to receive each Grace novel and is excited to have a starring role, alongside King Charles, in Peter's latest thriller." Her Majesty has already had a sneak peakat the novel, it is understood. Peter, 76 and who has several Sunday Times No 1 bestsellers to his name, was "moved to tears" by Camilla's recent nomination of Grace as her favourite detective. Speaking in a recent interview, Peter, who was raised in East Sussex, said: "I came up with an idea, which I ran by Her Majesty and she loved it. Throughout writing, during which I've done extensive behind-the-scenes research at the Palace, I have received invaluable insights from the Royal Household, including Her Majesty." The pair have developed a firm but unlikely friendship and, in 2021, Her Majesty visited the set of Grace, the fifth series of which has just aired on ITV. A sixth series of the drama is already in production. Insiders told the Daily Mail "any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental" when asked about Peter's new book. Buckingham Palace declined to comment to the publication.

Scarlett Moffatt 'set to sign up for I'm A Celeb All Stars' as TV star prepares to head to South Africa 10 years after winning the show
Scarlett Moffatt is reportedly planning her return to TV and is in talks to join the All Stars version of I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here! The Gogglebox star, 34, was crowned Queen of the Jungle back in 2016, so her appearance on All Stars would mark her tenth anniversary of winning the show. Filming is set to start in South Africa later this year with a source telling The Sun: 'Scarlett won I'm A Celeb in 2016 and was hugely popular with viewers, so everyone's really excited she might be returning for the new All Stars series. 'She is so game for a laugh and knows what to expect in terms of the Bushtucker Trials, so she'll throw herself into every task. 'Scarlett is a mum now and she wants to do it to show her little boy how brave she can be.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. MailOnline have contacted Scarlett's representatives and ITV for comment. It was revealed in February that Ant and Dec would be returning to host another All Stars series. A source close to the production revealed: 'It did well last time and while they can't do it annually, they wanted to do another.' The first series featured a star-studded lineup of former contestants, including boxing champion Amir Khan, Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan, TV presenter Carol Vorderman and Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread. Series six runner-up Myleene Klass was crowned the winner after defeating series 16 campmate Jordan Banjo in the final survival trial. A spin-off of the original I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, the special is filmed in Kruger National Park, South Africa, where celebrities take on various challenges in a basic, luxury-free camp. Unlike the original format, however, the all-star series does not allow viewers to vote for contestants to face Bushtucker Trials. Instead, the campmates battle it out for the title of 'Legend,' departing from the traditional crowning of a Jungle King or Queen. The I'm A Celebrity… South Africa special garnered strong viewership, with an average of 5.5 million viewers tuning in per episode. The news comes after Scarlett shared a powerful message on body confidence as she showcased her incredible dance skills during a ballroom competition at the weekend. The TV personality previously took to Instagram to share a video of herself dancing with a pal during the contest, in which she expressed how much fun she was having on the dancefloor. However, Scarlett then re-shared her video on Sunday where she encouraged others to not let their appearance or age stop them from doing what they love. Alongside the clip, which sees her beaming with joy while dazzling in a neon green gown, Scarlett penned: 'I've said it once I'll say it a million times. DO NOT let your shape, size or age stop you from doing something that brings you joy. 'Don't let that silly inner sabotage voice tell you ya won't be able to do it. Don't tell yourself I'll do it when I'm thinner, when I'm fitter or when a,b or c happens. Do it now!' The former Gogglebox favourite continued: 'I can't tell you how much joy dancing in two finals with my childhood friend has made me this weekend. I was thinking of nothing but the sheer joy that dance brings me, I hope I can encourage one more person to do the same.'

Christine McGuinness ‘went extremely quiet after fuss over her sexuality'
The TV personality and Paddy McGuinness announced in 2022 they had split after more than a decade of marriage, and earlier this year she quit Channel 4 programme Celebs Go Dating because 'the attention that brings is just too soon for me'. Blackpool-born McGuinness, 37, told the podcast How To Fail With Elizabeth Day that she has 'struggled more because of the attention around my sexuality' rather than dating men and women. 'It never mattered to me, which was why once me and my ex-husband were separated and I met people, I didn't properly date,' she added. 'As a teenager, I dated both men and women. My ex-husband knew. My family knew. It was never a secret for me. 'It was just a part of me and it was normal, so then when I was single again … that's what I'd done, but it was made such a big fuss of in the press, I almost went back into myself. 'I went extremely quiet, from feeling quite comfortable and happy and free. I almost was going backwards and I could feel myself shrinking and staying quieter because of the noise around it, it almost made me feel like, well, I must be doing something wrong because why would it be front-page news?' She explained that the attention has 'happened multiple times over three years' and she has not spoken about it before because of the focus on her. She added that wants to be 'able to date' and 'enjoy it', before adding: 'It shouldn't matter if they're male or female, it shouldn't matter what their gender is. I shouldn't really ever even have to explain in any way who I want to spend my time with. That's my business.' McGuinness also said she was told 'never discuss it ever', while others have urged her to 'talk about it'. She also said she was a 'free spirit', when asked if she want to give her sexuality a description. McGuinness also said: 'My experiences with women have been lovely and it's not like women are better or worse. It's simply that the connection for me is different.' The former The Real Housewives of Cheshire star also spoke about 'heartbreak' with one woman who she was with for two years. 'We actually left it very, very mutual. It was just that she was from (Czechia) so … she just couldn't move over here and I couldn't just get her move over there, so we left and it was really sad,' she also said. 'It took me a while to feel comfortable to then go with a man, but the next person was of course, my ex-husband (Paddy) and I felt safe with him.' However, she said she 'can't bring myself to feel comfortable with another man in that kind of way'. She married former Top Gear presenter Paddy in 2011 and they share daughter Felicity, and twins Leo and Penelope. All three children have autism and McGuinness confirmed Paddy continues to live with them. McGuinness has fronted Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism, which was focused on her own condition, experiences raising her children, and other families seeking support. She also said she wants 'someone for me' for her next relationship, adding: 'I want that emotional connection where I can be open and I can talk, and I can be vulnerable and I can ask for help, but I can also have a laugh and just have a good time. 'It's not like I'm trying to find a new family unit or someone to come in and be a step-parent.' McGuinness has also been on reality shows The Real Full Monty, Pilgrimage, Celebrity MasterChef and Celebrity Hunted. How To Fail With Elizabeth Day is available wherever you get your podcasts.
