Odisha ready to lead in tech frontiers: CM Mohan Charan Majhi
Addressing the valedictory ceremony of TiECon Bhubaneswar 2025 - A summit on Entrepreneurship and AI here, the chief minister said Odisha is now positioning itself as a preferred destination for global capability centres.
'To every investor, mentor and entrepreneur present here, we invite you to invest, innovate and grow with us. We are actively positioning Odisha as a preferred destination for global capability centres. Whether it is chip design, AI research, block-chain or financial inclusion, Odisha is ready to lead,' he said.
Majhi also said Odisha has become one of the first states in India to launch a dedicated AI policy. 'We have also revamped our semiconductor policy and will soon unveil new strategies for investments in IT, global capability centres and FinTech,' he added.
Majhi further said that with progressive policies, world-class infrastructure and a partnership mindset, the state is building an ecosystem where global expertise meets local talent to shape the future of a Viksit Odisha. 'Odisha is no longer on the sidelines of India's growth story. We are at its epicentre and emerging as an innovation hub,' he asserted.
He said the state government is now equipping its youth with future-ready capabilities in AI, cyber security and emerging technologies, and efforts are on to take this growth beyond Bhubaneswar to cities like Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur, which are being developed as the next wave of digital hubs. 'Our vision is not just about GDP growth, it's about creating jobs, empowering youth and advancing social justice,' Majhi said.
Assuring all support to investors and entrepreneurs, the CM said, 'Once you are here with us, you will definitely feel Odisha is your second home. Together, we can make Odisha the entrepreneurial capital of eastern India and truly realise the vision of Purvodaya.'
The two-day event was organised by the Electronics & Information Technology and Industries departments, OCAC, IPICOL and Startup Odisha in collaboration with TiE Global. Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Mukesh Mahaling, Jajpur MP Rabindra Behera, Rajya Sabha MP Sujit Kumar, additional chief secretary, Industries Hemant Sharma, principal secretary, E&IT Vishal Dev, industry leaders and key functionaries from the E&IT ecosystem attended the event.

‘Don't use word suicide': Odisha CM to elderly man at grievance meet
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed displeasure on Monday after an elderly applicant at the CM's Grievance Cell here that he would commit suicide if his issues were not resolved. Expressing deep concerns over the growing mindset on the subject, Majhi urged the elderly man not to use the word 'suicide' ever. He assured the applicant, Jagabandhu Panda, that he was there to resolve their issues and urged him to be patient. The Chief Minister also said that if his grievances are genuine, he would definitely receive the assistance. 'I have been working in the PWD department for the last 25 years. However, I have no related documents. My wife is a paralysis patient and my son is physically handicapped. We are facing many hardships to make ends meet with a meagre Rs 5000 monthly salary. The authorities didn't give any heed to my grievances. The Chief Minister assured me that he would listen to my grievances and asked me not to use the 'suicide' word,' said Panda. The incident took place during the 14th session of public hearing of grievances by the Chief Minister on Monday. Senior ministers of his government, along with officials of the different departments, were present during the public grievance hearing. As per the official statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office, out of the 12,252 applications received, as many as 10,807 applications were resolved during the last 13 sessions of public hearing. With over 88 per cent of grievances resolved and Chief Minister Majhi's active efforts to address them, public trust in the state government has increased during the recent period. As in previous sessions, the Chief Minister first met with more than 40 physically handicapped and those suffering from serious illnesses at the grievance cell during the 14th session. He listened to their grievances and directed the authorities to take immediate steps to resolve them. Majhi instructed the secretaries of the concerned departments present during the hearing to take necessary actions on all the grievances received on Monday.

Meanwhile, ahead of Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath outlined the government's agenda for Uttar Pradesh's journey towards a 'Viksit' state. The CM informed the media persons during an interaction at state assembly that on August 13 and 14, the House would hold a continuous 24-hour discussion on this vision, a consensus for which was reached in the all-party meeting. CM Yogi said the session—held in the third year of the Amrit Kaal—would chart a decisive course for development, with the government set to present a 25-year action plan in the Assembly. The CM said the state government was advancing with the vision of 'Viksit UP' to contribute to the national resolve of a self-reliant and developed India. This vision, prepared in collaboration with NITI Aayog and experts, would ensure participation from all sections of society. Significantly, the state government intends to incorporate the opinion of the general public in the vision document for 'Viksit Uttar Pradesh.' 'By 2047, when India becomes a developed nation, Uttar Pradesh too will stand proudly as a 'Developed Uttar Pradesh',' claimed CM Yogi. Later, on the floor of house, Yogi said that traders opposed leader of opposition's recent visit to Gorakhpur because of bitter memories of SP-era fear and Goonda Tax. 'The traders have not forgotten the exploitation they suffered under SP rule. You went there uninvited, trying to obstruct development, and they respectfully opposed you,' he said, stressing that people cannot expect either security or development from SP. Recalling the infamous Sambhal incident under the SP regime, CM Yogi said the present dispensation was carrying out a 'purification drive' in the area to undo the negativity spread by the Samajwadis. 'SP is still clinging to its old habits, opposing development at every step,' he remarked. 'The BJP and NDA governments are committed to development—but SP simply cannot tolerate it,' he asserted.
