A strong weekend followed by a Monday dip
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' earned Rs 27.25 crore on Sunday, its biggest single-day collection so far. However, the film saw a steep drop on Monday, collecting Rs 8.50 crore. Even with the buzz around it, the film couldn't reach double digits on its first weekday. This brings the total domestic collection to Rs 66.65 crore after four days. While the Monday dip was expected, the film had already done enough to make an impact in its opening weekend.
Surpasses Aamir's last film's collection
Despite the drop in Monday's collection, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has already outperformed Aamir Khan's previous film, 'Laal Singh Chaddha', which collected Rs 61.36 crore at the domestic box office. That's a major win for Aamir, as fans and critics had high hopes for his return to the big screen.
When compared with Aamir's biggest blockbusters, the film still has a long journey ahead. Here are his highest-grossing films so far, 'Dangal' – Rs 374.43 crore, 'PK' – Rs 340.8 crore, 'Dhoom 3' – Rs 271.07 crore, and '3 Idiots' – Rs 202.47 crore.
While 'Sitaare Zameen Par' may not reach these heights, it has already proved itself by getting close to the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide.
A new milestone for
Genelia Deshmukh
It's not just Aamir who has reason to celebrate. The film marks a huge career moment for Genelia Deshmukh. Known for her role in 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na', Genelia now has her highest-grossing film with 'Sitaare Zameen Par'.
The film has already surpassed the lifetime collection of her 2008 hit 'Jaane Tu...

Ya Jaane Na', which made around Rs 55.36 crore at the Indian box office. This role is a big moment for Genelia, especially after being away from leading roles in Bollywood for some time.
What the film is about
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is directed by R.S. Prasanna. The story follows a basketball coach, played by Aamir, who trains ten differently-abled individuals for a basketball tournament. It's a heartfelt tale of teamwork, growth, and personal transformation for both the coach and the players.
The film also features a cast of young talents including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Genelia Deshmukh plays a significant role in the story alongside Aamir.

Inside private jet Bollywood stars prefer: Rs 18-30 lakh for a round trip, compartments that transform into beds, check-in 15 minutes before take-off

Recently, we saw the Kapoor family — Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan — fly in a private jet from Mumbai to Delhi for the funeral and prayer meet of Karisma's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur. Like the Kapoor family, many celebrities frequently rent private jets to conveniently and quickly travel to their destinations. Paparazzi often shoots celebs as they reach Mumbai's Kalina airport for flying off in a private jet. In a recent interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Maria Charles, Director of Skyline Charters, broke down every detail of flying in a private jet — including the cost of renting one, all the complimentary services provided to the stars, and the minimum time required to reach the private airport before departure. During the interaction, Maria shared that the Legacy 600 Executive Jet Aircraft, a 13-seater private jet, is the preferred choice of most celebrities. The flight typically includes two pilots and one cabin crew member, although the number of cabin crew can increase to two if there are more guests on board. She also offered a look inside the private aircraft, which is divided into two compartments. One of these compartments can be transformed into two beds, which can be separated by drapes, offering a private space within the jet itself. When asked how far in advance a person should book a private flight, Maria responded, 'No time limit is there, I have activated flights in 2 hours also. The operator needs 2 hours to activate the flight. The pilot has to reach the airport, aircraft has to fuel up, catering has to be ordered. Every pilot have to rest for 14 hours after every flight, so we have to check that and see if pilots can fly. If everything is in place then there is no time limit to charter business.' She also explained that charter flights can only fly during designated time slots, and they must book these slots. Only if the desired slot is available can the charter flight take off at that time. Clients are asked to arrive just 15 minutes before takeoff since they're using a private aircraft. She noted that since passengers go through a private airport separate from the main terminal, they don't have to deal with crowds. For domestic flights with luggage, guests must arrive 30 minutes prior, and for international flights, 45 minutes before departure — a significant contrast to the usual three-hour pre-arrival requirement for international commercial flights. She also shared that the celebrities are provided with local delicacies of the place that they are travelling to and anything under the sun for catering. Maria further explained that the cost of renting a private jet depends on the destination and flight duration. She shared an example, 'To fly from Mumbai to Delhi it takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, one way, so the total charter, round trip will be 4 hours and 30 minutes. So, any aircraft ranging from an XL to a Legacy will cost you between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 30 lakh plus GST for the round trip.' Beyond the time flexibility and exclusivity, another major perk for celebrities flying private is the hassle-free luggage process. Maria explained that airport staff handle the entire luggage procedure for celebrity passengers, who are asked to send their baggage ahead of their arrival. The luggage is checked in and loaded onto the aircraft before they even reach the airport. 'The luggage is sent on board before you reach the airport,' she added. She also shared that celebrities are offered local delicacies from the destination they are traveling to, along with virtually anything they desire when it comes to catering.

Aamir Khan Feels Dhoom 3 Could Have Been Better: ‘Aditya Chopra Ne Galti Ki'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan revealed the original plot of Dhoom 3, and said that Abhishek Bachchan's onscreen wife Rimi Sen aka Sweety Dixit was supposed to return in the film. Dhoom 3, written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra, was released in 2013. The film starred Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif. However, did you know the film was supposed to have another important character? During an interview with Mashable, Aamir shared that Abhishek Bachchan's onscreen wife, Rimi Sen aka Sweety Dixit, was intended to return in Dhoom 3. However, producer Aditya Chopra and writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya decided otherwise. Aamir said that he felt Dhoom 3 could have been better because it originally included the character of Jai Dixit's wife, Sweety, from the first two films. 'Dhoom 3 behtar better ho sakti thi. Kyunki usme ek kirdaar tha jo Jai Dixit ki wife ka role hai, Sweety ka, jo 1 and 2 mein hai, woh character original script mein hai. Adi aur Victor ko laga woh zaruri nahi hai toh unhone nikaal diya, shoot hi nahi kiya. Mere hisaab se woh unhone galati ki. Abhi toh wife ka character hi nahi hai naa. Original mein yeh tha wife jo hai woh usko divorce dene waali hai. Start usse hi hota hai. (Dhoom 3 could have been better. There was a character — Jai Dixit's wife, Sweety — who was in parts 1 and 2, and she was in the original script too. But Adi and Victor felt she wasn't necessary, so they removed her — didn't even shoot those scenes. In my opinion, that was a mistake. Now, there's no mention of his wife at all. In the original script, the story began with his wife wanting to divorce him)." Aamir further explained that Sweety's character was frustrated because her husband, a Mumbai Police officer, neglected her and missed important occasions like Karva Chauth and her birthday. He described how Abhishek's character would try to win her back by promising her a honeymoon they had never taken. However, Jai would then receive an urgent message about a new case in Chicago, creating a dilemma. At the airport, before leaving for his honeymoon, Jai would meet the police commissioner in the washroom to get briefed on the case. After the interval, Jai would be removed from the case in the film. But in the original script, his honeymoon and the case were meant to end simultaneously, revealed Aamir. There was a twist where Sweety knew all along that Jai was on a case and urged him not to return home until he caught the thief. Aamir believed this backstory would have helped viewers connect emotionally with Jai's character. For the unversed, Dhoom 3 is the third installment in the popular action-crime franchise Dhoom. Directed and co-written by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Siddharth Nigam, and Jackie Shroff in key roles. First Published:

Aamir Khan says 'Dhoom 3' could've been better: 'Aditya Chopra made a mistake..."

With high expectations. 'Dhoom 3' is surely one of the most underwhelming films of Aamir Khan and also the weakest among the 'Dhoom' series. Earlier, in a candid interview with Mashable India, actor Aamir Khan opened up about the original plotline of 'Dhoom 3' and why he believes the film could have been emotionally stronger. According to Aamir, one key character—Sweety Dixit, Jai Dixit's wife, played by Rimi Sen in the first two parts—was cut from the final version, a decision he called a 'mistake' by producer Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya . 'Sweety's Character Was Originally Central' Aamir revealed that the original script of 'Dhoom 3' began with Sweety asking Jai Dixit (played by Abhishek Bachchan) for a divorce, frustrated with her husband's neglect. 'Dhoom 3 behtar ho sakti thi. Kyunki usme ek kirdaar tha—Jai Dixit ki wife Sweety—jo original script mein tha. Adi aur Victor ko laga woh zaroori nahi hai, toh nikaal diya. Mere hisaab se woh galti thi,' said Aamir. He felt the character added depth to Jai's persona and could have given audiences an emotional entry point into the action-heavy film. A Missed Opportunity for Emotional Impact Explaining the original storyline, Aamir said Sweety was tired of being forgotten—Jai would miss Karva Chauth, her birthday, and other important occasions due to his work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's A List Of Cheapest Steel Suppliers (See List) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo To win her back, Jai would promise her a long-overdue honeymoon, but an urgent case in Chicago would interrupt their plans. At the airport, Jai would secretly meet the police commissioner to get case details. Instead of ditching his wife, the story would unfold with Sweety supporting Jai's mission, urging him to finish the case before returning home. 'It would've added heart to Jai's otherwise rigid character,' Aamir said. About 'Dhoom 3' Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, 'Dhoom 3' hit the big screens on December 20, 2013. The expectations were quite high for the project, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment, especially due to the weak second half and climax.
