Five suspects at large after Teluk Intan football brawl, seven released
Hilir Perak District Police Chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin confirmed seven individuals, aged 21 to 32, will be released on police bail today.
The suspects had been remanded for three days starting August 8 under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
Bakri stated that the investigation papers will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office this week for further action.
The arrests followed a police report filed by a witness who reported a fight between two local football teams.
The incident occurred during the Hilir Perak Integrity League 2025 match last Thursday. - Bernama

Abandoned baby discovery exposes incest case, three arrested
KAJANG: Police have arrested three people, including a man who falsely claimed to have discovered a newborn baby girl in a box near a petrol station in Batu 14, Hulu Langat, on Sunday. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Naazron Abd Yusof said the arrests, made yesterday evening, followed investigations that revealed the baby was born from an incestuous relationship between a 39-year-old man and his 16-year-old daughter. "The complainant, a 29-year-old security guard, was actually in cahoots with the man. The so-called discovery was fabricated to conceal the birth," he said in a statement today. The teenage girl, who has stopped schooling, is believed to have given birth recently. The baby, found alive at 1.56am on Aug 11, was in good health and has been placed under hospital observation. Naazron said acting on information, police detained two men and one woman, aged between 16 and 39. "The two male suspects have been remanded for one and six days respectively, while the female suspect has been released on police bail and is receiving medical treatment," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for abandonment of a child and Section 376(3) for incest. "If convicted under Section 317, the offender faces imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine, or both. Section 376(3) carries imprisonment of between eight and 30 years and no fewer than 10 strokes of the cane," Naazron said. He urged anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Hizwan Hamzah, at 019-6369835or the nearest police station.

He said the achievement was the result of coordinated efforts by school authorities, teaching staff and the implementation of targeted academic intervention and rehabilitation programmes aimed at shaping positive character among the inmates. Unemployed man charged with father's murder in Kuala Krai
KUALA KRAI: An unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with the murder of his father. Narosman Othman, 39, did not enter a plea as murder cases are under the High Court's jurisdiction. He is accused of killing Othman Jusoh, 74, at a house in Kampung Kuala Gris between 6 am and 6.30 am on Aug 6. The charge falls under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction. Magistrate Amal Razim Alias set Sept 10 for mention and ordered a psychiatric evaluation for the accused. Narosman, who was unrepresented, will be sent to Tanjung Rambutan Hospital in Perak for assessment. Earlier reports revealed the victim was found dead in his kitchen with severe head injuries.
