"Shrek 5" Release Date Delayed Again
Universal and DreamWorks Animation have postponed the fifth 'Shrek' film from December 23, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
This is the second delay for 'Shrek 5,' which was originally set for July 2026.
The studio didn't provide a reason for the hold-up, but Universal has fielded outsized success with animated fare — such as 'Despicable Me' franchise, 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' — in the summer months.
'Shrek 5' will open less than a week after Sony's animated 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.'
On its prior date in December 2026, the family film was scheduled to debut in the wake of Disney's 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Ice Age 6.'
As part of the move, Universal has shifted up the premiere of Illumination's Untitled Event Film to April 16, 2027, instead of its original late June date.
Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are returning to the fictional land of Far, Far Away in their signature roles as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona, while Zendaya is joining the cast.
"Shrek 5' will be directed by franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn.
The entry will debut on the big screen a quarter-century after the original 2001 animated smash, which put a spin on the concept of Happily Ever After, as told by a misunderstood ogre and his merry band of fairytale folk.
'Shrek' became an instant hit with nearly $500 million globally as well as the first-ever Oscar winner for animated feature.
The film was followed by three sequels 2004's 'Shrek 2,' 2007's 'Shrek the Third' and 2010's 'Shrek Forever After' and two 'Puss in Boots' spinoffs.

Yara Sameh Taylor Swift detailed sending a powerhouse crew to negotiate the purchase of her master recordings: Her mom and brother. During her Wednesday appearance on the ' New Heights ' podcast, Swift recalled how she reclaimed the master recordings of her first six albums from Shamrock Capitol. She explained the purchase was a long time coming, adding, 'Since I was a teenager, I've been actively saving up money to buy my music back.' Throughout the 2020s, Swift re-recorded the albums she lost the rights to, and thought it was the 'closest I would get to owning my music.' However, after the success of her 'Eras Tour,' she and her team decided it was the perfect time to get back full ownership of her masters. Swift said the reasons she wanted to buy back her music were "deeply personal". 'For me, this is not, 'Oh, I want to own this asset because of its returns, because of the dividends that I will receive over the years,'' Swift explained. 'I want it because these [are] my handwritten diary entries from my whole life. These are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life. This is my photography, my music videos, most of which I funded. My artwork, everything that I've ever done, is in this catalog.' Rather than send 'lawyers or management' to the negotiations, Swift sent her 'mom and brother,' who've been her business partners throughout her career. The pop star said the advantage of sending her family was that they were able to convey 'all the times we've tried to buy [the masters], all the times it's fallen through, all the times we had gotten plans together and figured out something we thought was gonna work and it didn't at the last minute.' After a couple of months of waiting, Swift's mom delivered the good news. 'My mom calls me afterwards and she like, 'Look, you know, they were wonderful, they heard us out, we have no idea which way they're gonna go with this,'' Swift noted. 'And so I was like, I get it, I get it. I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade. It was a couple of months after the Super Bowl, we're in Kansas City and I get a call from my mom, and she's like, 'You got your music.'' Swift albums and associated visuals were purchased in May for an undisclosed nine-figure sum. Hayat Al Fahad Hospitalized in ICU
Yara Sameh Kuwaiti television and theatre stalwart Hayat Al Fahad was hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) on Wednesday after suffering a health scare. Al Fahad's official page on Instagram broke the news and asked her fans to pray for her recovery. Kuwaiti media outlets reported that the veteran actress suffered a stroke, which required her transfer to the ICU and banned her from receiving visitors until her health improved. Tamer Hosny to Perform Live in North Coast on August 16
Yara Sameh Egyptian superstar, Tamer Hosny will perform live at the Sky Bar, the open-air nightclub of Sky Beach Resort in Hacienda Bay, North Coast, on Saturday, August 16. He is set to present several of his popular and latest songs.
