Neighbours and Coronation Street legends unite for new 'twisted' drama

Metro26-07-2025
Neighbours icon Jackie Woodburne is set to join forces with Coronation Street royalty Kym Marsh in a new Channel 5 drama.
The prospect of not having Ramsay Street favourite and acting powerhouse Jackie on our screens isn't worth thinking about – and thankfully we don't have to as the Susan Kennedy star is already preparing for her new role just weeks after wrapping production on the Aussie soap for the second time.
And as for Kym, who is reportedly stepping away from her Nicky Walters role in Waterloo Road, fans won't have to wait long to see her again.
The soap titans have joined the cast of Imposter, a new four-part drama set in Australia that will see a family at war over a hotel when mum Helen refuses to sell up, despite her children demanding that she does so.
The soapy plot twists and turns follow, with Helen having had a secret daughter named Amanda, who she gave up for adoption decades earlier.
When Amanda unexpectedly shows up, Helen is delighted – but this is the just the beginning of what's set to unfold.
The official synopsis tells us: 'The lucrative hotel is the ultimate prize and a twisted scheme soon spirals into betrayal and ultimately, murder.'
Consider us intrigued and excited already.
The show will be filmed in Victoria, and at the Fremantle Studios in Nunawading this summer. That means that we may well see some familiar Neighbours locations pop up!
Just three years ago, Neighbours was axed by Channel 5, though returned to screens in 2023 when Amazon's ad-supported free service Freevee swooped in to rescue it.
The daily escapades of Erinsborough residents thrilled fans for another two years before the decision was made by Amazon (in the wake of Freevee's closure) not to renew Neighbours for another season.
Production wrapped on the long-running Aussie soap – a staple of daytime TV in the UK for 40 years – earlier this month, with the final episode slated to drop on December 11th.
Discussing her time on the serial, Jackie said: 'It's impossible to measure the gratitude I feel for the gift of 30 years on Neighbours. More Trending
'To do so I would have to calculate the number of extraordinary cast and crew I have been privileged to work with, count the number of laughs I have shared with them, measure the pride I feel for the diverse, dramatic (and sometimes outrageous!) storytelling we have all been a part of.
'We are the best version of 'family'. It has been a wild ride into a happy life. [I] wouldn't change it for quids!'

Just in: These two Australian bars were named among the world's best by Time Out

Thirsty? You've come to the right place. Time Out is known for recommending the best places to go out around the world, and that absolutely includes must-visit bars. Much like our restaurant scene, Australia is home to some of the grooviest, grungiest and downright glorious watering holes this world has ever seen. Case in point: Time Out has just dropped its 2025 roundup of the best bars in the world – and two Aussie standouts made the cut. To curate our list of the world's finest, funkiest and most fantastic bars, we asked Time Out's international network of writers and editors to share their number one spot for a drink in their city. In the 2025 ranking, two Australian bars made their mark among just 18 inclusions. Obviously, Melbourne's ever-evolving bar scene featured on the list, with the handsome Apollo Inn landing in 11th place. Tucked inside a 1920s Neo-Renaissance building, this cosy, dimly-lit cocoon is perfect for old-world cocktail classics and sophisticated snacks. Apollo Inn's refreshing Picon Bière is a one-way ticket to summer in France, but you can also never go wrong with the Gibson Martini. Time Out Melbourne contributor Lauren Dinse says, 'Your best bet for getting a table at this perennially popular 30-seater is to clock off early from work and pop in at around 4pm. Stay as long as you like; any night of the week, you'll be made very welcome.' Over in Sydney, Pleasure Club – a purple-hued, disco ball-lit basement bar where hedonism is not only welcome, but encouraged – landed in 16th on the world's best bars list. Having opened in 2024, this late-night live-music bar was the first Newtown venue to be granted a 4am licence in more than 100 years. Time Out Sydney Editor, Avril Treasure, says the drinks are weird, wacky and tinged with nostalgia – think Cherry Ripe-inspired cocktails and even Vegemite Martinis. There's a reason Pleasure Club won Best Cocktail Bar at Time Out Sydney ' s Food and Drink Awards 2025 – head down and see why it lives up to the name. Major US pizza chain Chuck E. Cheese is finally opening in Australia – but you'll never guess where

Forget Vegas – Australia's about to score its very own 'casino for kids', complete with flashing lights, arcade games and plenty of cheesy pizza on the side. In January 2024, mega American franchise Chuck E. Cheese announced it was heading Down Under – and it's finally revealed where and when! Chuck E. Cheese is just one of a growing number of American fast food giants popping up in Australia, with Wendy's, Wingstop and Auntie Anne's all having opened here in the past 12 months. With almost 600 locations in 18 countries worldwide, this will mark the franchise's first Aussie outpost, with its flagship set to open in Joondalup, Perth, on September 6. Founded in 1977 in California, the family entertainment chain has become a global sensation thanks to its winning combo of cheesy pizza combined with impressive arcades and next-level kids' parties. And its Western Australia venue will be no different. Located 25 minutes north of Perth's CBD, the 1,622-square-metre Joondalup store will be centred around the Adventure Zone – a huge multi-storey indoor playground featuring a six-metre interactive rock climbing wall, ball pit with inflatable boats, spider climb, giant spiral slide and Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course. Australia's first Chuck E. Cheese will also feature a Game Zone, boasting more than 100 arcade games, a light-up dance floor to bust a move and VIP party rooms where kids can score all-you-can-play access – plus surprise appearances from Chuck E. himself. And don't worry, parents – there are dedicated recharge zones just for you. After burning off all that energy, your little ones are bound to work up an appetite. Luckily, there's a full-service restaurant dishing up crispy wings, fresh salads, fruit and veggie platters – and of course, Chuck E. Cheese's signature cheesy pizzas. Really want to raise their sugar levels? Treat them to warm giant cookies, unicorn churros, Dippin' Dots and fully loaded milkshakes, too. Chuck E. Cheese's Australian debut is being brought to us by Royale Hospitality Group, which also franchises burger joint Milky Lane and steakhouse Outback Jacks. The Perth store will open on September 6 at Unit 3/7 Winton Rd, Joondalup. Doors will open daily from 9am, with closing times of 9pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Taking to Instagram, Tommy shared a series of snaps from the trio's sunny holiday in Turkey - including one of them all cosied up. He captioned: "One of the best trips ever." One follower commented: "These photos are so special." Another added: "Bambi looks sooo happy as do you all, lovely pics." A third shared: "Good seeing you back where you belong lad." It comes as Molly-Mae revealed why Tommy doesn't feature in her YouTube vlogs. Fans had claimed that Molly's sister Zoe, 28, is more of a father figure due to her regular appearance in the videos. Molly-Mae explained: "I've seen so many comments saying 'Zoe is more the dad' I only vlog when I am not with Tommy, I am with Tommy literally 80% of the week and he is with Bambi majority of the week. "But I vlog when we are here and he is at his because it's just something that I am not ready to like open up with yet and like flinging the camera around like when we're a family. Molly-Mae admits real reason she's not filming with Tommy Fury after breaking down in tears on camera "I just think like we're not there yet and still figuring out life and living situations. I'm not ready to vlog like we used to." The couple only recently confirmed their reunion after splitting last August. Their relationship story featured in Molly's recent Amazon documentary where she talked about their New Year's Eve kiss, which began feverish speculation that they were back together. They are now working hard to put past cheating allegations and Tommy's alcohol-fuelled partying problems behind them. A source previously told us: 'It sounds extreme, but Molly feels much more reassured when Tommy checks in. "It all helps with trust, honesty and transparency between the two of them. 'Tommy dutifully phones Molly the minute that he arrives anywhere. 'And then she likes him to also show her where he is. 'This has been going on for months now, and Tommy's friends are impressed that he has agreed to it whole-heartedly.'
