Samsung keeps breaking record after record with the hugely popular Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7

Phone Arena22-07-2025
If you thought Samsung's newest foldable devices were destined to fail at the global box-office due to the exorbitant price of the razor-thin Galaxy Z Fold 7 , somewhat repetitive design of the Z Flip 7 , and general lack of excitement surrounding the Z Flip 7 FE, the time may have already come for you to think again. Yes, it's still early days for the super-versatile and powerful handset trio, but all the signs from key markets like India and South Korea are very encouraging. Almost surprisingly so. Not only are the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 nearly as popular as the Galaxy S25 series in the world's most populous nation, but the pre-order record set by the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 a couple of years back in Samsung's homeland has officially been broken as well.
$1120 off (53%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Samsung and grab a free storage upgrade on the 512GB model. On top of that, you can save an extra up to $1,000 with eligible device trade-ins. Alternatively, you can get the phone with a $300 Samsung Credit. Pre-order at Samsung $720 off (59%) Pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at Samsung and save $120 as a free storage upgrade on the 512GB variant. On top of that, you'll save up to $600 with eligible device trade-ins. Alternatively, you can get it with a $150 Samsung Credit. Pre-order at Samsung
Okay, perhaps labeling Samsung's 2024 foldables as a "flop" is a bit unfair or exaggerated. After all, we are talking here about two undeniably expensive devices that reportedly reached a combined sales total of around 5.2 million units worldwide in their first six months on store shelves. Then again, that global number was significantly lower than what the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 scored a year before, and similarly, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 disappointed during their pre-order period in Samsung's domestic market with only 910,000 units between them (compared to 1.02 million for their 2023 predecessors).

That may not sound like a huge improvement (because it's obviously not), but it is an improvement at a time when many analysts had expected the foldable segment to hit a stagnation point. Moreover, the pre-order window for Samsung's latest foldables has yet to close (in Korea or elsewhere), which means that the 1.04 million figure is guaranteed to rise even further by Friday.
The world's top smartphone vendor is thus likely to see not just its sales volumes expand in Q3 2025 compared to the same period of last year, but its profits as well. That is, of course, if the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will prove as popular in European countries or North America as in South Korea and India, which is never a guarantee.
The ultra-costly Galaxy Z Fold 7 is somehow outselling the Z Flip 7 , with the former model accounting for 60 percent and the latter for 40 percent of the family's combined pre-order tally in Samsung's homeland of South Korea.
That profile might be the number one reason why the Z Fold 7 is so incredibly successful. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena That's a massive shift from 2024, when the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was outselling the Z Fold 6 by six to four at the same point in the two's domestic commercial run, and from 2023, when the Z Flip 5 accounted for no less than 70 percent and the Z Fold 5 for a modest 30 percent of the duo's total early numbers.
The Z Fold 7 's almost shocking success is certainly helped by super-aggressive launch campaigns, deals, discounts, and special gifts, but above all, Samsung's new book-style powerhouse seems to be striking box-office gold thanks to a super-slim body and a more eye-catching design than all previous members of the Galaxy Z family.

The app Google Messages replaced as default on Galaxy phones might offer a life-saving feature

Samsung Messages is no longer the default messaging app on Galaxy phones. Despite being demoted and losing its default status, Samsung Messenger is not being phased out by Sammy. In fact, while analyzing apk version 16.1.02.2 of Samsung Messages, Reddit user Adriaaaaaaanoooo discovered a couple of strings of code that indicate Samsung's desire to add an emergency satellite texting feature to the app. The strings of code read: satellite_network_mode title samsung_message-only-support_sms_when-satellite-network-mode Samsung Messages lost RCS support as Samsung started taking the necessary actions to phase out Samsung Messages in favor of Google Messages. While completely removing Samsung Messages from its handsets was never fully realized by Sammy, in the middle of last year the South Korean manufacturer removed the app from its foldable phones. But even though the company did decide to replace Samsung Messages with Google Messages as its default messaging app, Samsung apparently wants to keep it alive. Samsung is even working on other new features for its Messaging app including: Birthday reminders Emoji reactions Live location sharing Now Brief support Sticker reactions The ability to send emergency text messages by satellite is a feature offered by multiple U.S. carriers. Those on T-Mobile's highest-priced plans have the T-Satellite feature added to their service for free while those on less expensive plans or using other wireless providers can pay monthly for the service. Verizon has a similar service available on a limited number of devices. Verizon subscribers packing an eligible device do not have to pay for the service which gives them the ability to send an emergency text by satellite in areas with no cellular connectivity. Apple also offers Emergency SOS via Satellite on iPhone 14 and later models; it is supported by all three major U.S. carriers and is free for two years after the activation of a new iPhone 14 and later. Since the release of iOS 18, this feature is now available to send and receive text messages with friends and family when cellular service in unavailable. Samsung could decide to eventually make Samsung Messages the default messaging app on Galaxy devices once again. And this time it could have the ability to get you out of a jam even if you're stuck in an area that doesn't have any cellular service. If you have a Galaxy device, you can install Samsung Messages from the Galaxy Store by clicking on this link.
