Hollyoaks legend hasn't aged a day 20 years after finding fame on the soap

The Sun26-04-2025
HOLLYOAKS veteran Stuart Manning has barely changed since first premiering on the soap in 2004.
Stuart, 45, played Russell Owen on the Channel 4 soap between 2004 and 2009 and briefly reprised his role in 2018.

He was all smiles in photos posted to Instagram on a night out with his family.
Stuart posed for a selfie with his wife, Georgina Juma, in the photos posted to her Instagram account.
"My beautiful family ," she captioned the post from December.
Another photo in the post showed Georgina posing with their children.
Stuart was axed from Hollyoaks for good in 2018 when his character briefly returned, only to be brutally killed in a hammer attack, after he was exposed for cheating on Mercedes by sleeping with Goldie McQueen.
He's also starred in an episode of Doctors, The Dumping Ground as Matt Branston and Casualty as Clyde Jackson.
The actor has also appeared on I'm A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here and in C4's Ackley Bridge.
Stuart had a recurring role early noughties soap, Night and Day, and appeared in one episode of cop drama The Bill when he was 14 years old.
During his time on Hollyoaks, Stuart's dramatic storylines showed Russ marrying Mercedes McQueen (albeit briefly), battling testicular cancer and dating twin Sophie Burton.
In fact, it was Russ who saved Sophie from the Dog In The Pond when it caught fire – only for her to die in his arms shortly afterwards.
Stuart said at the time of his return in 2018: "After a decade away from Hollyoaks, it felt like the right time to come back and particularly when the show is on such a high.
"It will be really interesting for me to explore how the character of Russ has evolved and to return as a different actor to who I was back then."
In 2020, Stuart landed a role in a Hollywood production opposite culture icons Joan Collins and Jane Seymour, and Denise Richards.
Stuart was set to star with them in the medieval period TV drama, Glow and Darkness, and he shared behind the scenes photos of the set to his Instagram page.
The return to filming came after Stuart had revealed he was working as a delivery driver after he was axed from Hollyoaks.

What did Trump say about Sydney Sweeney/American Eagle backlash?

"Sydney Sweeney, an actress was in an ad for blue jeans. The ad is doing very well, it's very popular. The jeans have sold out. Does America need to see more ads like that and maybe fewer ads with people like Dylan Mulvaney on the cover?" Finnerty asked, referring to the controversial 2023 Bud Light campaign starring the transgender TikTok star which elicited criticism from certain groups. Trump addresses Diddy pardon decision, but questions remain Trump said that "advertising's a very funny thing," telling Finnerty that "I've done ads where I thought they were lousy, and they turned out to be iconic. And then I've done some that I thought were beauties that were going to be fantastic and they weren't so good, so to each his own." Before addressing his thoughts on advertising, Trump told the conservative cable host earlier in the interview that "I think the Dylan Mulvaney ad was perhaps the most unsuccessful ad in history. It knocked $35 billion off the value of a certain company if you know what I'm talking about." Trump continued: "(The Mulvaney ad) was one of the great disasters of all time. I would say that's probably the most unsuccessful ad, worst ad ever." It is unclear what exact $35 billion valuation the president is talking about, but sales for Bud Light - owned by Anheuser-Busch - tanked after the backlash began. American Eagle breaks silence on Sydney Sweeney jeans ad controversy Why is the 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans' ad sparking backlash? The Sweeney ad has been the subject of both online praise and anger for over a week. On July 23, the brand launched the new campaign starring Sweeney, which American Eagle originally described as "a return to essential denim dressing," with Sweeney sporting 1970s-style flare jeans paired with a denim jacket. In one of several videos for the campaign, Sweeney, clad in a denim-on-denim fit, dabbles in some word-play, telling cameras: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color." "My jeans are blue," Sweeney said in the video. Each promotional video ends with the tagline, "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans." The Trump comments aired the same day that American Eagle broke its silence on the backlash and doubled down in an Instagram post following days of discourse about the Sweeney ad blitz. "'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way," the statement read. "Great jeans look good on everyone." Contributing: Anna Kaufman, Nicole Fallert

Justin Bieber shares cryptic four-word post after he admitted to 'extremely selfish' behavior

Justin Bieber appeared online Saturday evening to share a vague post with his 294 million Instagram followers. The 31-year-old Canadian music artist — who gave fans a glimpse into his mansion on Friday — shared a closeup black and white selfie and added a cryptic caption. 'Broke another olive branch,' he wrote, along with a single dove emoji. The Yummy hitmaker didn't add any context, but he could be hinting at ending another friendship after a post shared by him in June included screenshots from a heated text exchange with a former buddy. In February a rep for the star told TMZ he's had a 'very transformative' past year, in which 'he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.' Just days ago the singer admitted to 'selfish' behavior in another social media caption. Engaging his online audience, he wrote, 'Let's have a good day, let's go outside. Get in nature.' Then he wrote, 'Thanking Jesus for his patience with me this morning. I can be extremely selfish and impatient yet Jesus always has his arms open toward me.' Justin released his surprise seventh studio album, SWAG, to great fanfare on July 11. Several songs make mention of his public persona, personal struggles, and his commitment to his wife Hailey and their baby son Jack Blues, who will turn one this month. There is also a theme of interludes featuring comedian Druski, in which Justin engages in candid 'therapy sessions' with the social media star. Rumors have recently circulated that the music sensation will tour Australia following the album release. Justin has not confirmed whether he will be touring, nor has Frontier Touring, who told Rolling Stone it had no information on any potential Australian tour dates. The hitmaker previously cancelled his Justice world tour in 2022 for health reasons. On Friday the Honest crooner gave his Instagram followers a peek inside the $26 million Beverly Hills mansion he shares with wife Hailey Bieber. He shared a brief reel as he joined the 'slide city' internet challenge inspired by a lyric from his hit song Yukon. Justin was dressed in red basketball shorts and a white T-shirt as he slid across his hardwood kitchen floor in a pair of knit socks. Hailey, 28, made a cameo appearance as she was shown in the background wearing black leggings and a black pullover sweatshirt.
