BJP welcomes new members from Makthal ahead of local body polls
BJP Telangana State President Ramchander Rao welcomed the new entrants by ceremonially presenting them with the party scarf, reinforcing the party's growing influence across regional strongholds.
Addressing the occasion on Wednesday, Ramchander Rao stressed the importance of unity and hard work, saying, 'We should work with more enthusiasm to strengthen the party in the coming days.' He accused the Congress-led state government of misleading the public through misinformation and failing to resolve the issue of urea distribution, despite the Centre supplying 12.02 lakh metric tonnes against the required 9.5 lakh metric tonnes for Telangana's Rabi season.
On the Urea Supply and State government allegations against the Centre, Rao highlighted administrative lapses that he claimed led to black marketing and artificial shortages, particularly in agricultural hubs like Makthal—dubbed the cotton seed bowl of the state. He blamed poor monitoring and mismanagement by the state agriculture department and alleged collusion between some Congress leaders and fertilizer dealers.
Underscoring the party's strategy and commitments, he asserted that the BJP has a favourable atmosphere across the state. Rao urged party cadres from the ward to the ZPTC level to rally together in the coming elections. He reiterated the party's demand for 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) and criticized Congress leaders for opposing it.
Looking ahead to his July 24 visit to Mahabubnagar district, Rao called for complete unity among BJP workers—both new and seasoned—to instill public confidence and lead the party to electoral success in the upcoming assembly elections.

Maharashtra Government To Cancel Fake Birth Certificates Of Bangladeshi Migrants
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government will cancel the fake birth certificates issued to Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the state by August 15, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Wednesday. As many as 42,000 such cases have been found but the actual number is greater, and it will be ascertained by the officials, he told reporters here. "By August 15, fake birth certificates given to Bangladeshis will be cancelled," the BJP leader said, adding that the copies of such certificates will have to be sent to the Department of Revenue and the Department of Health. Earlier, BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya had alleged that 3,997 birth certificates had been issued to Bangladeshis on the basis of forged documents, leading to the state government suspending two officials previously posted in Malegaon in Nashik district. On Tuesday, Bawankule held a meeting with the state chief secretary, which was attended by district collectors via video conference. Somaiya too attended the meeting, sources said. Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam had stated in March that in the last four years, the government has been cracking down on illegal Bangladeshi residents as never before. In 2021, 109 Bangladeshis residing illegally in the state were deported, followed by 77 in 2022 and 127 in 2023. In 2024, as many as 716 illegal Bangladeshi residents were arrested and 202 deported, he stated.

Scrapping Unfit Vehicles: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on VVFM Program
New Delhi: The Centre provided an important update on the implementation of the Vehicle Scrapping Policy in response to a query raised by Dr. K. Laxman, Member of Parliament, in the Rajya Sabha. On Wednesday, in his response, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, outlined the framework established to phase out unfit and polluting vehicles through the Voluntary Vehicle Fleet Modernisation Program. This policy combines incentives and disincentives to encourage environmentally responsible disposal of vehicles that do not meet fitness standards. The policy permits the voluntary scrapping of both commercial and personal vehicles, provided they pass mandatory fitness tests. To facilitate this transition, a series of regulatory notifications have been issued under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989. Additionally, guidelines for Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) were initially introduced via GSR 653(E) and have been amended multiple times, along with similar frameworks for Automated Testing Stations (ATSs) under GSR 652(E). Tax concessions are now available for vehicles that hold a valid Certificate of Deposit. Different categories of transport vehicles have to undergo mandatory testing through the ATS. Furthermore, the new policy prohibits the renewal of vehicle registrations for government-owned vehicles that are over 15 years old. A targeted tax concession of up to 50% is also offered for BS-I and BS-II standard vehicles, as detailed in GSR 200(E) dated March 26, 2025. Minister Gadkari emphasised the government's commitment to reducing vehicular pollution, modernising India's vehicle fleet, and encouraging the adoption of cleaner technologies through well-structured policy mechanisms. This scrapping framework aims to enhance sustainable urban mobility while creating economic opportunities through organised recycling and testing infrastructure.

Terrorism handled with iron fist under Modi Govt: Shah in RS
New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah today launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a fiery address in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the terrorists behind several high-profile attacks during the UPA era had been eliminated under the Modi government's recent counter-terror operations—Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. In a sharp political offensive during participation in debate on Operation Sindoor, Shah accused the Congress, particularly former Home Minister P. Chidambaram, of shielding Pakistan-backed narratives for the sake of "vote-bank politics". He alleged that the UPA government was reluctant to take strong action against terrorists and instead relied on diplomatic paperwork. 'Under Operation Sindoor, many key terrorists like Hafiz Muhammad, Mudassar, Mohamad Hamza, Mohammed Hazar, Abdul Malik and others have either been killed or incapacitated,' Shah told the Upper House, adding that several of them were so severely injured 'they won't be able to commit another terror attack in the future.' Hitting out at Chidambaram for questioning the nationality of the slain militants, Shah retorted: 'Why does Chidambaram need proof? Who is he trying to save—Pakistan or Lashkar?' He went on to accuse the Congress of "placing national security second to appeasement politics." Referring to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Home Minister disclosed that the three Lashkar-e-Taiba commanders involved—identified as Suleimani, Afghan, and Jibran—were neutralised in Operation Mahadev conducted on Monday. He cited forensic evidence and eyewitness testimonies linking the trio to the attack, and attributed the plot to Lashkar's proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF). 'Unlike the past, we did not wait. I reached Srinagar the same day,' Shah recalled. 'Congress kept sending dossiers, but under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, we gave a direct response. Only fear ensures peace with terrorists.' In an apparent swipe at Chidambaram, Shah questioned the Congress' credibility on national security. 'He says Operation Sindoor wasn't decisive. Was 1965 or 1971 decisive then? Why did terrorism rise so drastically under Congress?' he asked, pointing to what he termed a history of inaction and weak responses under previous governments. The Opposition, led by the Congress and other INDIA bloc constituents, staged a walkout during Shah's reply, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence in the House to answer questions related to Operation Sindoor.
