Lindsay Lohan quits Netflix rom-coms for good after 'manifesting' her next role

Metro28-05-2025
Lindsay Lohan has no plans to make anymore rom-coms in the future, after 'manifesting' her partnership with Netflix.
The Mean Girls icon is currently preparing to grace the big screen once again in upcoming Freaky Friday sequel, Freakier Friday – which will be released on August 8.
Having been in the spotlight since the age of 12, thanks to her dual role in the Parent Trap, she previously took a step back to focus on herself, and started a new life in Dubai with husband Bader Shammas.
In recent years, the 38-year-old switched things up and led the way in three films on the streaming platform, 2022's Falling for Christmas, and Irish Wish and Our Little Secret – which both came out last year.
When asked about her return to acting, dubbed the Lohanassaince by loyal fans, Lindsay told Elle Magazine: 'It was really Netflix. And I was manifesting it. During Covid, I was like, 'I want to work with Netflix.' I kept writing it in my journal and saying it. And then that's what happened.

'I was like, 'Oh, it'd be nice to do three films with them, and then see where that goes. And then I definitely want to do my first feature back with Disney.' So I manifested that, and I'm manifesting this movie now.'
However, unpacking her comeback, the Just My Luck actress – who welcomed son Luai with the financier in 2023 – confirmed that she is officially stepping out of her Netflix rom-com era and looking ahead to other projects.
'I always want to make movies like that – things that make people happy and bring people together,' she continued. 'I love making movies for that reason – for people to escape and find something that they can take into their own life and realize everything's going to be okay.
'But with Netflix, I was like, 'Okay, now we need to be thinking about other stuff.' I can't do movies like these forever.'
Lindsay left us all delighted when she popped up as a spoiled hotel heiress in 2022 flick Falling for Christmas, alongside Chord Overstreet, cementing her return to Hollywood.
She worked with the streamer on a further two projects, taking on the role of unlucky in love singleton Maddie in Irish Wish, and starring as businesswoman Avery in Our Little Secret.
Next, she will be reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray for the eagerly-anticipated Freaky Friday sequel, after manifesting the Disney flick, and then wants to get stuck into some 'meatier' projects.
Shedding light on what we could expect next, Lindsay teased: 'I would love to find a dark comedy like Mean Girls. That kind of meaty, good, funny movie – a smart comedy. More Trending
'Not a rom-com, just a straightforward funny movie. I'm excited to be doing this drama. I'd love to work with some dream directors.'
She named Quentin Tarantino, Julianne Moore, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino as people she would love to share a set with, suggesting that she could pop up in 'something Sopranos-y, since I am Italian'.
A mafia series with Lindsay at the head of a crime family? We're definitely in.

Inside Wednesday star Steve Buscemi's including near-death experience with Vince Vaughn

Steve Buscemi is among the Hollywood A-listers joining Netflix's Wednesday for its second season. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Wednesday. ‌ Steve Buscemi is a household name for both TV and film with fans eager to know everything there is to know about the Boardwalk Empire star. ‌ Wednesday season two is set to release part one on Wednesday, August 6, on Netflix, welcoming a plethora of new stars to Nevermore Academy. ‌ One of which is the unforgettable actor Steve Buscemi who is taking on the role of Principal Dort after the death of his predecessor Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie). Ahead of the 67-year-old returning to the small screen, here's everything there is to know about the life of Steve Buscemi. Unexpected career Before joining the world of entertainment, Buscemi had a fulfilling career as a New York City firefighter, working in Manhattan's Little Italy from 1980 to 1984. He initially joined after his dad encouraged him to take the civil service test when he was 18 but Buscemi chose to leave so he could pursue acting. ‌ However, after 9/11, Buscemi returned to his old firehouse to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction theory Buscemi features in two of the biggest films in the world from director Quentin Tarantino. The first was Reservoir Dogs in 1992 where he played Mr Pink and then a minor role as the Buddy Holly waiter two years later in Pulp Fiction with Uma Thurman and John Travolta. ‌ It is thought that some of the characters are related in the films but Buscemi has his own theory which he shared on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He explained: 'Because my character of Mr Pink in Reservoir Dogs was such a cheapskate, and he didn't like to tip, I thought it was poetic justice that my next film with Quentin, I play a waiter. ‌ 'I even like to think that maybe Mr Pink got away somehow in Reservoir Dogs, and he's hiding out as the Buddy Holly waiter. 'And he probably gets tipped terribly. That's his fate.' Stabbing The Pulp Fiction star was stabbed on April 13, 2001, in Wilmington, North Carolina at a bar called the Firebelly Lounge. ‌ Buscemi, who was filming Domestic Disturbance at the time, was going for drinks with fellow star Vince Vaughn and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg when two men allegedly picked a fight with Vaughn. A fight began outside at around 2am which resulted in Buscemi getting stabbed above the eye and in the jaw, throat and arm. Fighting continued and Vaughn was among the four arrested. ‌ Thankfully, Buscemi didn't suffer any life-altering injuries. Late wife The Wednesday season two actor was married to filmmaker, choreographer and artist Jo Andres who he was neighbours with in the 1980s. Jo reportedly had a crush on Steve for several years during the time he worked as a firefighter while trying to make it as an actor, promoting himself with posters on the street. ‌ The Metro reported Buscemi sharing: 'When we met, she didn't realise I was the guy on the poster. 'When we got to my apartment, she saw the same poster and said, 'That's you!'' ‌ The pair got married in 1987 and welcomed their son Lucian in 1990. Tragically, Jo died of encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis, a rare disease of the bowel in 2019. It was during that same year that Buscemi paid tribute to his late wife at CinemaCon, describing her as his 'biggest supporter, audience and inspiration'. ‌ Buscemi is now in a relationship with Australian Karen Ho who was his plus one to the Wednesday season two premiere. What's next Apart from Netflix's Wednesday, the star has a number of projects already in the works. He is going to star in the thriller Wild Horse Nine with The Green Mile actor Sam Rockwell, comedy The Marshmallow Experiment with His Dark Materials' Dafne Keen and the film The Only Living Pickpocket in New York with Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito. In addition to these, he's going to be teaming up with New Girl star Max Greenfield in the sitcom Don't Say Good Luck, as well as reuniting with Jenna Ortega for the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun.

The Hunting Wives fans think they've spotted a glaring error in the Netflix series

Fans of the hit Netflix series The Hunting Wives think they caught a mistake in the premiere episode. One TikTok user highlighted a scene in which actress Brittany Snow 's character, Sophie O'Neil, opens her kitchen freezer, revealing a Kraft Mac & Cheese product inside. 'Of all the things that shocked me about The Hunting Wives, this is the part that really had me shook,' the viewer wrote across the snippet. She added in the caption, 'Why do I always notice weird things in shows?' The clip zoomed in on the inside of the freezer, confusing fans who are primarily familiar with the food brand's pasta offerings. 'I've been WAITING FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO BRING THIS UP,' one person wrote in the comments section of Shandy's post. Someone else quipped about Evan Jonigkeit's character: 'It was definitely Graham, add that to the list of reasons we don't like him.' Another fan came to the conclusion, 'There is not reasonable explanation which makes this hilarious.' But a more knowledgable consumer shared an explanation for the puzzling display. 'Those are mac n cheese frozen meals, friend,' they shared. And a different social media user said knowingly, 'Any time a brand or logo is shown in a movie, it is a product placement. So many people are talking about this so they did their job.' The Hunting Wives is adapted from a bestselling book, and the sex-fueled show has struck a chord with audiences since its July 21 premiere. The eight-part series is based on author May Cobb's erotic thriller of the same name and adapted by Rebecca Cutler, who said she was in 'awe of its flagrant horniness.' It doesn't shy away from full-frontal nudity, no-holds-barred sex, and steamy make-out sessions that have earned it comparisons to Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives. Viewers are introduced to its protagonist Sophie as she relocates to deep-red Texas from Boston with her husband Graham. She finds herself embroiled in the lives of a mysterious and exclusive group of gun-toting MAGA women dubbed The Hunting Wives. Among them is Margo (Malin Åckerman), who lures Sophie into their world of sex, scandal, and salacious gossip. Margo and her husband, Texas governor hopeful Jed (Dermot Mulroney), have an open relationship that gives the high-flying socialite freedom to have flings with younger men, such as the barely-legal Brad (George Ferrier) and also women like her friend Callie (Jaime Ray Newman).

Chris Hemsworth recalls ‘out of body experience' performing alongside Ed Sheeran

The Thor actor, 41, learned how to play the drums as part of the National Geographic series, Limitless: Live Better Now, and joined the Shape Of You singer on stage to play at a concert filled with 70,000 people in Bucharest, Romania. Speaking at a Q&A, he said: '(It was) very much a kind of out of body experience and and there's something about being in unison and in time with, not just a band, but a mass group of people. 'And I imagine it was sort of like a universal prayer or whatever, where people got together, and this sort of intention to point towards something positive in the same direction that there would be some interconnected experience. 'And that's what it felt like. I felt like it was kind of beyond me at that point. I was just floating along for the ride.' Hemsworth also reflected on the first series of the show and said: 'The first season almost killed me, emotionally and physically. That was by design.' He continued: 'We discussed, what, if we're going to do a second season, what would we tackle? What new science is there? What we could expand upon.' The first episode of the series, titled Brain Power, follows Hemsworth as he takes on the challenge of learning to play the drums, which culminates in the surprise live performance with Sheeran. Hemsworth also climbs a frozen 600-foot wall to see if there is a benefit to breaking out of his comfort zone and and embraces special forces pain training in South Korea. The movie star and his family attended the series London premiere on July 17. The National Geographic show will be coming to Disney+ on Friday August 15.
