The internet has backed a bride who made the controversial decision to exclude her sister-in-law from her wedding guest list—sparking a family rift.
The situation was shared by the bride's brother, posting under the username u/CoralCryptic, who explained that his wife, 32, and his older sister, 37, have long had a strained relationship. The sister is a divorcee with one child, and the entire family—including the poster's wife—gathers bi-monthly at their father's home.
"Now the issue is between my sister and my wife. Whenever they have even a small disagreement, my wife resorts to saying really hurtful things to my sister. The one she always uses is something like, 'You're not ashamed of yourself? At your age, no husband, single mother...'" he wrote. "I've told my wife multiple times that this is completely out of line and unnecessary, and there are better ways to express herself if there's a problem. But she keeps doing it."
The post, which gained 9,900 upvotes in the subreddit AITA [Am I The A*****], revealed that the sister has now drawn a firm boundary.
According to the original poster, his sister is preparing to remarry—to who he described as a "genuinely great guy" who is also financially well-off. She invited all family members to the celebration except for his wife. "She was very clear about it too," he wrote. "She said my wife has consistently made her feel like less than because of her past, and she doesn't want her at her wedding."
Upon returning home, his wife was furious. She told him it was improper for his sister to invite him and not her, and that he should decline to attend. "I told her flat-out that she brought this on herself and that I am going to my sister's wedding. It's her big day and she deserves happiness without drama," he said.
Since then, his wife has become "cold and distant," accusing him of choosing his family over her.
He ended the post by asking the community: "AITA for still planning to attend my sister's wedding even though my wife wasn't invited?"
Expert Insight
Therapist Frank Thewes, owner of Path Forward Therapy LLC, weighed in on the situation with Newsweek, supporting the original poster's decision to attend the wedding.
"OP's wife has set her own table here," Thewes told Newsweek. "Based on what's provided, she seems to have boundary issues and can't seem to hold back the impulse to say hurtful things to her sister-in-law."
While acknowledging the situation may damage the marriage, Thewes added: "This post gives the sense that there are already major issues in the relationship waiting to emerge between OP and his wife. OP should have eyes on that fact when he goes to the wedding."
However, he also offered hope that the fallout might lead to a reckoning and a healthier future for the couple.

Reddit Reacts
Many Reddit users were quick to take the husband's side.
"NTA but why do you want to be married to someone like this? I'd have my sister serve her divorce papers," wrote one commenter.
"I'd go to the wedding and celebrate your sister," another user chimed in.
"Your sister deserves support on her big day. Ignoring her feelings impacts your marriage, but your wife's behavior is also unacceptable. Tough situation all around," echoed another.

Puppy Arrives at Shelter 5 Years Ago, Hearts Break As She Still Needs Home

A 5-year-old border collie has been waiting to be adopted for her entire life—five years and counting—leaving social media users heartbroken. Noelle arrived at Dogs Trust Ireland in December 2020 and has remained in the charity's care ever since. A recent video posted to TikTok by the shelter documented each year Noelle has spent waiting for a family, set to a trending sound. The emotional reel has amassed over 28,000 views and prompted an outpouring of support from viewers. "Five years later, Noelle is still hoping to find her perfect family and forever home. This gorgeous girl has a very sweet and cuddly nature, especially with the people she knows and loves. Noelle also has a real playful side—her favorite game is fetch, closely followed by tug-of-war. She even goes on sleepovers to her favorite carer's house and is the perfect house guest!" Melanie Kevelighan, a spokesperson for Dogs Trust Ireland, told Newsweek. A split image of Noelle the border collie. A split image of Noelle the border collie. Dogs Trust Ireland/Dogs Trust Ireland Kevelighan explained that while the TikTok post has generated some interest, Noelle has yet to find her match. She added that the team hopes the additional attention might also help shine a light on other long-term dogs in their care with similar needs. Noelle, described as a "beautiful 5-year-old border collie," has made great progress since arriving at the shelter, but she still finds parts of the world overwhelming. According to the charity, loud noises scare her, and she quickly seeks comfort from familiar faces. Her ideal home would be in a quiet, rural area with little traffic and minimal visitors, as she can feel anxious around strangers. Once she bonds with someone, though, she becomes a loyal companion. The team believes Noelle would thrive in an adult-only home where she can be the only pet. To help her adjust, they suggest multiple meet-and-greets at the rehoming center so she can build trust before transitioning into a new environment. "Noelle is a wonderful girl who has so much love to give to the right person who is willing to take a chance on her," the shelter shared. TikTok users were quick to share their emotional reactions to Noelle's story. "This is the saddest version of this trend," one commenter wrote. "Oh Noelle, such a beautiful girl, she deserves the world," said Chloe. "So sad. Hope this is Noelle's year. She deserves a forever home," added another user, Ava. Tears As Tiny Kitten Stays by Woman's Side During Her Last Few Moments

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A tiny kitten, focused on regaining strength after being rescued, selflessly took the time to be with a woman during her last few moments of life. When Phaedra Barratt first rescued Tinkerbell, whom she also refers to as Tinkie, she didn't think much of her, other than that she was a tiny kitty, she told Newsweek. Barratt sees her fair share of small kittens come through her nonprofit organization, The Balam Foundation, which can be found at @balamfoundation on Instagram. Based in Mexico, The Balam Foundation focuses on improvised communities and offers spay and neuter, sterilization, rescue, foster care and adoption. While the organization will help any animal, she said she especially works with cats, which Barratt said are seen as "vermin" in the country. Tinkie first came to The Balam Foundation in May. And over the next few months, she had her fair share of near-death experiences. Barratt said Tinkie kept dying on the team, and they kept miraculously reviving her. Tinkie "wanted to stay." Courtesy of Phaedra Barratt Barratt believes that because of Tinkie's experience with death, the tiny, old-soul cat knew her mother, Isabelle Barratt, was nearing the end. The kitten understood the "space between life and death." In Barratt's Instagram video posted to another account for the foundation, @balam_says, she placed Tinkie next to her mother. Barratt needed to be by her mother's side for around-the-clock care, which is why she brought Tinkie along. For days, Tinkie stayed by her mother's side, refusing to leave. She sat on her shoulder, stomach, or chest, monitoring every breath and nuzzling her way in, comforting her any chance she could. "When I put her with my mother, it was just so sweet," Barratt said. "I think she understood the state she was in...I think cats have a deep awareness and sensitivity toward people and death in particular." This special moment shared between her mother and the kitty left Barratt speechless and falling even more in love with Tinkie. She has already been left speechless by the tiny cat's willingness to keep fighting for her life. Barratt said she tries her hardest not to foster fail the animals she rescues, but she might be too in love with Tinkie to let her go; however, she hasn't decided for certain if she's keeping Tinkie. In the meantime, Barratt will continue helping Tinkie get stronger and add on more weight. She currently weighs 500 grams, or just over a pound, when a healthy kitten should weigh in at 2.5 to three pounds at this age. Barratt's mother died at the age of 87 on July 14.

Shock at Dachshund and Bernedoodle's Accident Puppies—'Never Seen This Mix'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a house full of kids and pets, one family discovered that an accidental breeding had taken place among two unlikely dogs, leading them to have nine puppies. The family's farm, known on Instagram as @ourblueberryacres, is home to several animals, including cats, dogs, horses and goats. Their one dog, a long-haired dachshund named Twix, was scheduled for neutering as a July 6 Instagram video with over 388,000 views and 2,730 likes explains the family is not "pro-breeding." However, Twix wanted to "stick it" to the family right before getting neutered. They thought they did everything to prevent Twix from getting to their Bernedoodle, Bella. But the family learned the hard way that accidents happen, and Twix's appointment came about 10 days too late. The family shared in a July 6 Instagram video photos of both dogs and the result of their unexpected mating. Bella birthed nine puppies, and the family wrote in the caption that they have "never seen this mix" before. Despite the family being anti-breeding, they are trying to make the best of the "not-so-normal" situation. Newsweek reached out to @ourblueberryacres via Instagram for additional information and comment. An article from Dog Mixology reported that dachshund and Bernedoodle mixes are known for being friendly, loving and loyal to families. They're highly intelligent and easy to train. As far as appearances go, an owner could expect a medium-sized dog with a long body and short legs. Their fur coat could be black, white, brown or gray, which are present in all these puppies. And depending on the dominant traits, their fur might be curly or sleek. A follow-up Instagram video showed the puppies, now about two weeks old, opening their eyes and beginning to take their first steps. The caption explained that all nine are healthy and have homes ready to welcome them in where they will be spayed and neutered. Four of the nine puppies will be staying with extended family, allowing them to see how this unique mix looks when fully grown, the owners wrote in a caption. Viewers flooded the most recent video with their awe and amazement at the puppies, calling them adorable. "This might be the cutest genetic combo I've ever seen," said one user. Another joked: "I hope you're calling them Darnadoodles." Screenshots from a July 6 Instagram video of a dachshund and a bernedoodle accidentally breeding and having nine puppies.
