Raheem Sterling 'offered to surprise European giants' - as exiled Chelsea star edges close to Blues exit
Sterling, 30, returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after completing a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal, where he scored just once across 28 appearances last campaign.
Eager not to loan the forward out again for a second consecutive season, Chelsea are eager for the former England international to leave on a permanent transfer this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sterling has been offered to Serie A giants Napoli, who are in the market for a left winger, in the last 48 hours.
Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo and Bologna forward Dan Ndoye are among those being considered by the Italian club, with Sterling one of many on their summer shortlist.
A move to Naples would mean a reunion with former Manchester City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, who left the Etihad on June 31 after his contract expired.
Together in Manchester, Sterling and De Bruyne chalked up four Premier League titles, five League Cups and an FA Cup as team-mates, before the Belgian went on to win the Champions League and three more domestic honours.
According to the BBC, Sterling is also attracting interest from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, who have sold Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool this summer for a British record of £116million and £29.5m respectively.
The German club have also waved farewell to their manager Xabi Alonso, who joined Real Madrid, and Granit Xhaka after his summer move to newly-promoted Sunderland.
Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Sterling has not been told what is next for him at Chelsea - but understands he is not in Blues boss Enzo Maresca's plans.

West Ham are furious at how long the trial has taken, and the toll it has taken on Paqueta, however senior Hammers sources told Mail Sport the club would not consider taking action against the FA. It's understood West Ham don't think it would be good for football if they were to sue the game's custodians. An emotional return to hometown club Flamengo is a possibility for Paqueta, though sources say the Hammers would want in way in excess of £25m otherwise will not consider selling him.

Liverpool announce permanent Diogo Jota tributes including sculpture at Anfield
Liverpool have confirmed that a permanent tribute will be created to remember Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. Reds forward Jota died in a car crash along with his brother Silva in Spain on July 3, aged 28. Tributes have been paid at Anfield with flowers, scarves, cards and jerseys being laid around the stadium. Liverpool confirmed that physical tributes have been removed and stored, while floral tributes will be composted and used in flower beds at Anfield and training facilities. The remaining items will be recycled and used to create a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield. Additionally, players will have a 'Forever 20' emblem – referencing Jota's now-retired shirt number – printed on their shirts and stadium jackets for the season. A club statement said: 'The club is now able to provide details on how it will create more permanent tributes moving forward. The thousands of physical tributes outside Anfield have been gradually removed over the course of the last week and carefully separated and safely stored. 'Floral tributes will then be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre. 'The remaining artefacts will be recycled by a specialist company and used to help create a permanent memorial sculpture that will become a future focal point of remembrance at Anfield. 'In the meantime, a temporary area of reflection has been created at Anfield so people can continue to pay their respects.' The club announced earlier in the month that Jota's squad number 20 had been retired in his honour across all levels, including the women's and academy teams. Liverpool paid tribute to Jota and Silva during their friendly against Preston on July 13, where supporters chanted Jota's name. Respects will also be paid ahead of the Reds' remaining pre-season games, where a floral tribute will be laid before kick-off at their games in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield. Liverpool's Premier League season kicks off with a meeting against Bournemouth on August 15 and a main commemoration is set to take place with a special fan mosaic and a minute of silence.
