The
Detroit Lions
' defense coordinator,
Kelvin Sheppard
, recently praised the newly drafted
edge rusher
Ahmed Hassanein. The Egyptian-American defensive end has been quite a topic of buzz lately, mainly because of his influence taking hold over the Detroit Lions. Not as late as last month, Hassanein expressed his willingness to even bet his life for the team amid the rookie minicamp media session. Despite being drafted in the sixth round, Hassanein might turn out to be crucial for the team to elevate its gameplay with
Aidan Hutchinson
returning after a leg injury for the 2025 NFL season.

Recently, during a media session at the rookie minicamp last Thursday, Sheppard praised the edge rusher when asked about his team presence, 'He's an absolute joy to be around. He's never had a bad day, and he doesn't know what 'slow down' means.' As the offseason practices are commencing with high energy, this was not the first time we witnessed the newly drafted player's affection towards the team.

Last month, Hassanein took to his Instagram and posted a quote from his new head coach,
Dan Campbell
, as the caption of his picture. The quote read, 'There is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is no light. There's a song Metallica has, 'No Leaf Clover,' and it says, man, when it comes to the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, it's just a freight train coming your way. If you see an expletive light, it's just a freight train. Just put your HEAD DOWN and go to WORK. It's about to be fun.'
Moreover, during the media session, Sheppard also gave an update about Hutchinson's offseason performance during field practices. Not only did Sheppard mention Hutchinson's game to be better than before, but he also highlighted him to be 'the most energetic guy on the field.' With the outlook seeming great for the Lions, it will be intriguing to witness the relentless practices come to fruition for the team. As every team gears up to be at the top of their game during the off-season, stay updated with the latest updates.

Arshdeep back in Kent, focussing on red-ball rhythm ahead of England Test series

London, Jun 10 (PTI) India left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is delighted to be back in Kent where he had earlier played county cricket as he looks to rediscover his red-ball rhythm ahead of the five-match Test series against England beginning June 20. The 26-year-old is eyeing his maiden Test appearance after being named in the Indian squad. The team is playing a four-day tour match against India A at the Kent County Cricket Ground at Beckenham from June 13. Primarily known for his white-ball exploits, Arshdeep, who represented Kent in the County Championship two years ago, had a notable season in the IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings, who finished runners-up. "As for today's training session, my only motivation was to get a feel for the rhythm -- how the body feels, how the red ball is coming out of the hand -- because all the players have been playing with the white ball for quite a while. So I really enjoyed it," he told "Going forward, as we keep progressing step by step, the intensity will keep increasing, and we'll keep making it more and more difficult for the batters to face the ball." India, without the services of retired Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, will be led by new skipper Shubman Gill. The team includes a crop of young batters such as Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Arshdeep said he is enjoying bowling to his team-mates as he sharpens his red-ball skills. "It was fun bowling to the batters. They looked quite compact, and there was a competitive spirit—even though we were just working on rhythm, they were fully competing. So that made it even more fun," he said. "We had to grind properly and try to get them out with a solid plan. Sai has joined the team for the first time, and he looked very compact too. The skipper looked in good touch. I'll try my best to keep improving and get them out more often going ahead." 'When your attack includes Bumrah, comparison doesn't exist' ===================================== Arshdeep said he is focused on enhancing his skills while training alongside pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. "Whenever I hold the ball, I always feel that I am the best. But everyone knows—when you're in an attack that includes a player named Jasprit Bumrah, then the word 'comparison' doesn't even exist," he said. "So, the focus is on how we can improve each other's game, each other's skill sets—and how we can help the team. That's where my focus lies." Reflecting on his earlier stint in Kent, Arshdeep said: "It feels really good to be here. At first, you get that 'homely' feeling, that yes, I've spent two months here before, so it feels great. I'm really looking forward to creating many more memories here. "It's a small place, very peaceful. Not many people around. If you need peace of mind, this is the best place—because there's always a cool breeze blowing, a soft warmth from the sun, and when you sip hot chocolate in that setting, it's pure bliss. "And if you have a sweet tooth, make sure to have some churros with it," said Arshdeep. The opening Test begins in Leeds on June 20.

Canadian teen Summer McIntosh breaks decade old 200m individual medley world record

The triple Olympic champion swimmer Summer McIntosh has shattered the world record in the 200m individual medley, rewriting Hungarian legend Katinka Hosszu's decade-old mark. McIntosh, who won three gold medals at the 2024 Olympic in Paris, clocked 2 minutes, 5.70 seconds on Monday at the Canadian trials for the World Championships in Singapore in July and August. She split 57.99 on the opening 100 to be .95 ahead of the world record pace at the halfway mark, only to fall off the a bit on the breaststroke leg. McIntosh trailed Hosszu's world record pace by .14 heading into the final 50 before racing home in 29.95 to shatter the old record. "It's awesome and 200m IM I think is my main race out of my top five, six races where I really have to execute perfectly,' McIntosh said. McIntosh broke her second world record in the meet's first three days. She demolished the 400m freestyle world record on Saturday in 3:54.18 to open the qualifiers. Then on Sunday, she swam the third-fastest 800m free in history, trailing only Katie Ledecky's top two times. The 18-year-old Canadian was previously the third-fastest 200m IMer in history thanks to her 2:06.56 to win Paris Olympic gold. With Monday's time, she passed American Ariana Kukors, who swam 2:06.15 at the 2009 Worlds, and Hosszu. "Breaststroke has always been my weakest so getting through that 50, just trying to get to the wall and knowing that I'll be really strong in that last 50 because my freestyle has been great here so far. 'Overall I'm really happy with that time and I always just trying to keep pushing forward but I'll have to look over my splits to see where my breaststroke was but happy with it," McIntosh, who will swim the 200m butterfly on Tuesday, said. McIntosh won three gold medals in 200m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 400m medley event at the Paris Games last year.

Sudharsan is India's future in all 3-formats

New Delhi: According to former India cricketer Robin Uthappa, left-handed opener B Sai Sudharsan is poised to be one of India's leading all-format players in the future alongside Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Sudharsan recently ended as IPL 2025's leading run-getter with 759 runs from 15 innings coming at an average of 54.21, including striking one century and six fifties for the Gujarat Titans'. The left-handed opener has played three ODIs and one T20I for India, and could well make his Test debut on the five-match tour of England starting on June 20. 'One name that immediately comes to mind is Sai Sudharsan. His evolution over the last couple of years has been phenomenal. Just last year, he was retired out in a game for not scoring quickly enough. And this year, he hasn't changed his technique or approach — he's just added a couple of shots, knows when to accelerate, and suddenly his strike rate has jumped from 130 to 170. Now, he's the Orange Cap holder. That's mighty impressive. 'I genuinely believe he's one of India's future three-format players, alongside the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal — all young guns in their own right. Then you've got players like Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and so many others stepping up. This is a boiling pot of talent — and I don't think it's slowing down anytime soon,' said Uthappa on the sidelines of Australian Summer of Cricket 2025/26 launch. With India set to defend ICC Men's T20 World Cup next year at home and in Sri Lanka, former captain and head coach Anil Kumble believes captain Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir have a serious task at their hands in deciding who can be in the final squad for the mega event. 'Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Vaibhav Suryavanshi — all of them will definitely be in contention for a World Cup spot. It's about using the remaining T20s before the tournament to figure out the best 15-man squad. You already have Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Yashasvi Jaiswal — all Test players who can also thrive in T20s. Then there's Sanju Samson. So it's going to be a challenge figuring out who makes the cut. Fitness will play a key role — you want a fully fit squad going into a World Cup, and I'm sure that's something the selectors and management will be closely monitoring,' he concluded.
