Where Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise's Relationship Stands Amid Dating Rumors

Elle2 days ago
THE RUNDOWN
Actress Ana de Armas is officially single following a relationship with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuba's president, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. They were first spotted sharing a kiss in November 2024. By May 2025, it was rumored they had split, but the breakup was confirmed by a source speaking to People this week.
Amid her distance from Cuesta, rumors have followed de Armas as she preps for an upcoming film with actor Tom Cruise. The pair has been seen spending time together, leading to whispers of a romantic relationship. But the source indicated she and Cruise are simply working on the Doug Liman-directed thriller, Deeper. De Armas was also supposedly receiving advice from Cruise as she trained for her movie Ballerina, set in the John Wick universe. The movie is filled with stunts, which Cruise is famous for doing in his own films.
'Tom is crazy hardworking and she's very excited to work with him. She calls it an opportunity of a lifetime,' said the insider. 'Tom is an incredible mentor to Ana. She has nothing but amazing things to say about him.'
This week, Cruise and de Armas were photographed together again, enjoying some sunshine on a yacht near the island of Menorca, just off the coast of Spain.
The source emphasized that their connection is 'not romantic.'
In February, a source told People something similar after they were seen having dinner together with their agents, during which they were supposedly 'discussing potential collaborations down the line' and 'appeared to have no romantic connection, just friends.'
They have since been seen in London, after attending David Beckham's 50th birthday party, and then again in early May taking a walk through the park on de Armas's 37th birthday.
In June, the actress told Variety that Cruise's support for Ballerina was 'unbelievable' and 'amazing.'
'It is very special that someone like him is supporting,' she shared. 'It is really special in general to have other actors and people supporting each other. We can do well all together.'

The couple, who are already parents to 4-year-old daughter Nakano Oceana, also shared the baby's name, Wolf Monte Valderrama, in the caption. The post included a sweet carousel of photos from their intimate family moment at the hospital following the newborn's arrival. One photo captures Valderrama with his arm around the bed, where Pacheco rests with their baby boy on her chest. Another shows the actor cradling Wolf in his arms. A third snap features big sister Nakano, smiling as she lovingly holds her little brother in the hospital bed. Friends and followers, including Lance Bass, Eva Longoria and Gloria Estefan flocked to the comment section of the post to congratulate the couple. Longoria commented while Bass dropped several raising-hands emojis, "🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌." The couple, who got engaged on New Year's Day 2020, revealed they were expecting their second child earlier this year. At the time, Pacheco told People that their daughter has "been manifesting this for months before I found out I was even pregnant!" She shared that Nakano was "the first one to know" when she took her pregnancy test, explaining, "She read it to Wilmer and I, and she has been shouting it from the mountaintops to every person who comes in her path: 'I'm going to be a big sister!'" For Valderrama, he said fatherhood has given him "a sense of purpose that is hard to describe." "Like you could in fact lift a car if you had to," he said. "Personally, being a girl dad has been the most fulfilling feeling. As an artist, it has also fueled me to make sure she has so many stories in which she sees herself as the hero of her journey! All in all, I was born to be a dad!"

Mahershala Ali's ‘Blade' Is Still Happening: Kevin Feige Says Initial Project ‘Wasn't Insanely Great at the Time'

'Mahershala Ali is still attached,' Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed at a press event on July 18 (via Variety), bringing some clarity to the long-awaited new 'Blade' entry in the MCU. Just last month, while promoting 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' Ali was evasive while discussing the project. 'Leave me out of it,' Ali said when his 'Jurassic World' co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey attempted to prod him on a Marvel-related trivia question. 'That's a Scarlett question.' In a separate interview with Variety at the 'Rebirth' premiere, he said. 'Call Marvel… I'm ready. Let them know I'm ready.' More from IndieWire Madelyn Cline Reveals 'Last Summer' Ending Was Shot One Month Before Release David Corenswet: Superman Character Has Been 'Over-Simplified' Onscreen Now, Feige says the project, originally set for release November 2025, says that Marvel simply got weighed down with projects due to the 'over-expansion' of the brand. With the increased demand for product, Feige explained, 'for the very first time ever, quantity trumped quality.' 'We had spent 12 years working on the Infinity Saga, saying, 'That's never going to happen to us.' We always had more characters that people were asking about than we could possibly make, because we weren't going to make a movie a month — that's crazy. Suddenly there's a mandate to make more, and we go, 'Well, we do have more' … But maybe that's what we fell into,' he lamented. Feige went on to explain that they didn't want to 'just put a leather outfit on [Ali] and have him start killing vampires.' Instead, Marvel Studios wanted something 'unique,' and Feige added of the initial scripts, 'It wasn't insanely great at the time.' So, despite Ali's casting announcement in 2019 and his brief voice cameo in 2021's 'Eternals,' the two-time Oscar-winning actor has yet to take on the role originated on film by Wesley Snipes. 'We didn't feel like, as we often do, you can have a good script and make it a great script through production. We didn't feel confident that we could do that on 'Blade,' and we didn't want to do that to Mahershala and didn't want to do that to us,' Feige concluded. The most significant update regarding 'Blade' this year actually made it seem like the project might be dead. Earlier this month, it was revealed that the movie 'Sinners' used period costumes that were originally procured by costume designer Ruth Carter for 'Blade.' Before he revealed the actual status of the production, Feige joked that this was the reason 'Blade' was on hold. 'The obstacle was, Ryan Coogler called and said, 'We'd love some costumes for 'Sinners,'' Feige joked. 'And we said, 'Take 'em man, no problem' — he's a good friend — 'take our costumes. We'll hold off on the movie.'' Ellen DeGeneres Says She Moved to the U.K. Because of Donald Trump: Life ‘Is Just Better' Here

Ellen DeGeneres says she decided to make the U.K. her permanent home because of Donald Trump's re-election as U.S. President. Making her first public appearance since leaving the U.S. last year, the chat show host revealed that she decided to settle in the U.K. with her wife Portia de Rossi the day after Trump won his second term in office in November 2024. 'We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in',' she said in an on-stage conversation with U.K. host Ricard Bacon, according to the BBC. 'And we're like, 'We're staying here.'' But DeGeneres was full of praise for her new home, asserting that life 'is just better' in the U.K. compared to the U.S. 'It's absolutely beautiful,' she said. 'We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life.' She added: 'It's clean. Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.' DeGeneres also discussed moves in the U.S. to endorse the reversal of a Supreme Court case that allows same-sex marriage, adding that she was considering getting married again in the U.K.. 'The Baptist Church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage,' she said. 'They're trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it. Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we're going to get married here.' In the conversation with Bacon, DeGeneres addressed allegations of a toxic workplace culture on her talk show in the U.S. from former workers and being branded as 'mean' in some press circles. 'It's as simple as, I'm a direct person, and I'm very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that… I'm mean?,' she said. 'I don't think I can say anything that's ever going to get rid of that [reputation] or dispel it, which is hurtful to me,' she added. 'I hate it. I hate that people think that I'm that because I know who I am and I know that I'm an empathetic, compassionate person.' But DeGeneres admitted that it was 'certainly an unpleasant way to end' her talk show.
