The Chiefs are now the first back-to-back champions to return to the Super Bowl, having won the past two editions, and they are targeting an unprecedented 'three-peat' in 2025.
It is also the fifth time in the last six years that the Chiefs have reached the Super Bowl, winning three of the last five.
Their opponents at Super Bowl LIX will be the Philadelphia Eagles, in what is a rematch of Super Bowl 57, when the Chiefs won 38-35 to begin their current run of wins.
The Eagles booked their place with an impressive 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders, though they understandably head into the event as slight underdogs. Here's everything you need to know about American football 's showpiece event:
When is Super Bowl LIX?
The 2025 edition of the Super Bowl is set to kick off at 5.30pm CST (11.30pm GMT) on Sunday, 9 February at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Superdome last held the event in 2013, when the Ravens beat the 49ers 34-31, and it has held seven Super Bowls overall, with the first dating back to 1978.

In the UK, Super Bowl LIX will be broadcast free-to-air on ITV1, with coverage starting at 10.45pm. Subscribers can also watch online on ITVX.
Sky Sports customers can also watch live, with extended coverage on Sky Sports NFL starting as early as 2pm.

Who is playing in the Super Bowl?
The Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of the 2023 game, when the Chiefs won 38-35 thanks to a field goal from Harrison Butker.
As with their last two campaigns, quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains the main man for the Chiefs, having led them to victory in 2023 and 2024 under the guidance of veteran coach Any Reid. Nevertheless,
The Chiefs will face an Eagles side who have only lost three times this season. They are led by the duo of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley – who broke the NFL record for rushing yards (2,005) in the regular season.
Who is performing in the half-time show?
US rapper Kendrick Lamar was confirmed as the main act for the half-time show in September, with the 37-year-old having performed as part of the show in 2022 alongside Eminem, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.
So far, Lamar has only confirmed long-time collaborator SZA as one of the supporting acts.
Given the timing for kick-off, the half-time show will likely begin between 1am and 1.30am in the UK.

With millions worldwide expected to watch, it's hardly shocking that both fighters would be handsomely compensated for their participation. Joshua's trainer has hit back at Paul after the American repeatedly challenged 'AJ' to a fight, asserting that his star boxer could easily handle the social media star. Davison and Joshua have been a team for nearly two years, forming a strong bond. When questioned about a potential showdown between the 35-year-old and the 'Problem Child,' Davison told the Stomping Ground: "You cannot judge people from where they have come from because everybody gets to certain different places in life and reaches the top all with different walks, different backgrounds." The renowned boxing coach acknowledged Paul's success before tearing into the internet sensation. "Yeah he is (successful) in lots of different fields, but like I said, Anthony Joshua is probably the most dangerous man, or one of the most dangerous men in the sport. To be stepping in the ring with him, I just think it is deluded from Jake Paul." He added: "I have no idea (if Paul can win) but I can categorically tell you that he is not winning that. He cannot win that fight, but AJ could win that fight and do whatever he wanted to do with him." Davison then reflected on former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou 's bout with Tyson Fury, arguing that the Cameroon heavyweight was more suited to fight Joshua before once again tearing into the American. "Do you think Jake Paul would go 10 rounds with Tyson Fury? No. Francis Ngannou did. "But look what happened there with Francis Ngannou. Francis Ngannou was more qualified to box Anthony Joshua than Jake Paul and look what happened there. That is one of the most durable men on the planet, Francis Ngannou. Never mind and undersized Jake Paul." When is Anthony Joshua's next fight? With Joshua currently recovering from surgery on his elbow, the British heavyweight is hoping to make his comeback before the year is out. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has recently disclosed that 'AJ' is now looking to move forward with his career after repeatedly chasing a clash with Fury, though he remains optimistic of eventually settling their differences with the 'Gypsy King' before retiring. The Major Soccer League transfer window closes this week and it remains to be seen if the American side comes back in Dundee United have knocked back a major six-figure bid for Will Ferry. Record Sport understands the offer has come in from a Major League Soccer side but is well short of United's valuation. It remains to be seen if the club from the Western Conference side comes back in with an increased offer before the MLS transfer window closes on Thursday night. The Tannadice club is under no financial pressure to sell and would only let one of their prize assets go if they were to receive a significant offer. Ferry was ranked as one of the standout full-backs in Scotland last season when it came down to the data analytics, while he also holds up well in leagues across Europe. and Hibs sold Lewis Miller to Blackburn for a deal that could net them £1.5million. Ferry is very much at that same level and it would take a decent seven figure bid to even get United to the table. Jim Goodwin 's side are also in a good place because Ferry is still under contract for this season and next. The 24-year-old has also been named as United's vice captain and also skippered them through their Conference League campaign. Ferry's form has also not gone unnoticed by Ireland and he is very much on the radar for a full call-up. He has previously been capped at under-21 level but new national coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has had him scouted and he is very much in his thinking. Ferry has been something of a coup since Goodwin signed the wing back from Cheltenham last summer and he was a key figure in their fourth place finish.

Ryan Reynolds showed his true colours with WhatsApp message before meeting new signing
Wrexham new boy Conor Coady has revealed the warm, down-to-earth welcome he received from the club's Hollywood owners, praising their transformative impact on the Welsh side Wrexham's Hollywood owners have shown their kindheartedness after giving a warm welcome to one of their new signings. Former Wolves and Everton defender Conor Coady joined the Welsh side from Leicester for £2million at the start of August. The Red Dragons fought off interest from Scottish giants Rangers to secure the 32-year-old's services. Coady has already established himself as an important figure at the Racecourse Ground, starting in both of their opening Championship fixtures. The England centre-back has now opened up on the friendly greeting he received from club co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac before even meeting them. The two actors initially introduced themselves via phone messages before coming face to face with the new team member as they flew in from the US to watch Wrexham 's first home game of the season against West Brom last Saturday. Speaking during an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live, Coady said: "When I signed, he [Ryan] sent me a video and Rob messaged me. It was amazing just to get a message to say, 'Welcome to the club.' I got a WhatsApp from an American number which I thought was a bit strange. "I sat on the couch with my missus watching it and it was a video of Ryan. I was really starstruck and he was just welcoming me to the club and saying how good it is to have me, what we want to do as a club and how we want to go forward." Coady joked that he was taken aback by Reynolds' height when speaking to him in person. He added: "Meeting him for the first time, he's quite a big fella. I said he can play centre half with me, and he said he's never played football in his life. "He's a really lovely man. What he's done for Wrexham, and what Rob has done for Wrexham, I think it's incredible to see where they're at now." Reynolds and Mac, who recently applied to legally change his surname from McElhenney, have transformed Wrexham's fortunes since buying them in February 2021. The club has achieved promotion in each of the last three seasons, most recently in April taking them from the National League into the Championship under manager Phil Parkinson. While the owners insist on leaving football matters to the playing staff, they have received a large amount of praise for their approach to running the club. And Coady believes the A-listers' humility is key to Wrexham's success. "I think what goes under the radar a bit is the trust they've put in people," he said. "They give so much trust to the people at the top end of our club, which I think has been absolutely fantastic over the years. That's a big reason why the club is where they're at today, because they give so much trust in the gaffer. "I saw them do an interview the other day, and they said, 'We don't get involved with the football.' I thought the interview was outstanding. They said, 'We tell a story about the club,' and I love that, because they're getting the story of Wrexham out there. "It's an amazing story so why not tell that story? And what better people to tell the story of Wrexham than Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds?" Wrexham have so far failed to register any points in their first Championship campaign in 43 years. They started the season with a 2-1 defeat away at Southampton, followed by last weekend's 3-2 loss at home to West Brom.
