Kesari 2 Box Office Collection Day 11: Akshay Kumar's movie faces Monday blues despite BOGO offer, but...
Kesari 2 Box Office Collection Day 11: After a good second weekend, Akshay Kumar's movie Kesari 2 faced Monday blues despite the makers offering BOGO (Buy One Get One free) to keep it afloat.
However, film analyst Taran Adarsh said that Tuesday's discount on tickets, coupled with a holiday on Thursday, would help boost Kesari 2's earnings significantly.
'The BOGO ticket offer today [Monday], Blockbuster Tuesday discounted ticket rates tomorrow [Tuesday], and the holiday on Thursday are expected to give its business a significant boost,' said the analyst on Monday.
However, he said, Kesari 2, based on the life of top Indian barrister C Sankaran Nair, who fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, has maintained a 'glowing word of mouth'.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kesari 2, which was released in theatres on April 18, collected ₹ 3 crore net on Monday, Day 11.
The Akshay Kumar movie witnessed a massive drop of 62.96 per cent in its earnings on Monday.
An upward trend was seen during the weekend. Its Sunday earnings, ₹ 8.1 crore, were 13.29% higher than its Saturday earnings, ₹ 7.15 crore. It had witnessed a 76.54% increase from its Friday earnings.
With this, the movie's 11-day collection stood at ₹ 68.4 crore.
'The hugely positive word of mouth has kept Kesari 2 super steady in its collection,' Sacnilk said, adding that it is a sign of its longevity that will likely keep it going despite the release of Ajay Devgn's Raid 2.
According to Sacnilk, Kesari 2 has topped ₹ 100 crore gross collection at the worldwide box office on its second Sunday, becoming Akshay Kumar's second film after Sky Force to do so this year.
The Akshay Kumar movie has earned ₹ 105 crore at the worldwide box office, of which ₹ 27 crore was collected overseas. Kesari 2 has earned a gross of ₹ 78 crore in India.

Thug Life Row Reaches SC, Plea Challenging Ban On Kamal Haasan's Film To Be Heard
Last Updated: During the film's audio launch, Kamal Haasan claimed that 'Kannada is born out of Tamil', sparking strong reactions in Karnataka. The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear on June 13 a plea challenging Karnataka's 'ban" on the screening of Thug Life, a film by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam and superstar Kamal Haasan. Initially, a bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan questioned the petitioner for directly filing a petition before the top court and asked as to why he did not approach the Karnataka High Court. In response, advocate A. Valan, representing Bengaluru's M. Mahesh Reddy, stated that the Karnataka HC has sought an apology from Kamal Haasan. After much persuasion, the apex court agreed to hear the matter on Friday. During the film's audio launch, Kamal Haasan claimed that 'Kannada is born out of Tamil", sparking strong reactions in Karnataka. Following the controversy, the Karnataka HC suggested that the actor-politician issue an apology, but he has refused to do so. As a result of the actor's refusal to issue an outright apology, the film's release in Karnataka has been postponed indefinitely. Last week, Kamal Haasan wrote a letter to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce stating that the row over his remarks on the origins of the Kannada language is a result of a misunderstanding. In his letter, the superstar also maintained that he is against the dominance of one language over another. Despite the controversy, Thug Life is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. The project marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after nearly four decades, following their legendary 1987 collaboration 'Nayakan", considered a milestone in Indian cinema. The gangster drama features a star-studded cast, including Silambarasan T.R. in a key role, alongside Trisha, Nasser, Joju George, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sanya Malhotra, and Ali Fazal. Thug Life is a joint production of Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, and will be distributed by Red Giant Movies. First Published:

Kesari 2 OTT release: When and where to watch Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday and R Madhavan's film online
Kesari 2 OTT release: Did you miss watching Kesari 2 in theatres? Here's your chance to watch the high-voltage courtroom drama. Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday and R Madhavan will be soon streaming online. The film was originally released on 18 April in theatres and received a warm response from the audience and critics. As per multiple portals, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh will make its OTT debut on 13 June. The film will be available online on Jio Hotstar. An official announcement from the Jio Hotstar team is yet to come. Kesari 2 is helmed by director Karan Singh Tyagi. It is the spiritual sequel to Akshay Kumar's hit action film Kesari (2019). The film is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, centred around C. Sankaran Nair and the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It stars Akshay Kumar as Nair and also features R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday as lawyers Neville McKinley and Dilreet Gill respectively. Kesari 2 is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Akshay Kumar's Cape Of Good Films. The film saw a decent start at the domestic box office after minting ₹ 7.75 crore on its opening day. It went on to pick up pace, clashing with Sunny Deol's Jaat and Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero. It also somewhat suffered after the release of Ajay Devgn's much-anticipated Raid 2. Going by the latest updates and industry tracker Sacnilk, Kesari Chapter 2 made a total worldwide collection of approximately ₹ 145 crore. While its India Net collection was ₹ 92.63 crore, its India Gross collection was ₹ 110.47 crore. The film recently completed 50 days in theatres since its release. The Live Mint review of Kesari 2 reads, 'The film makes the same allegation as the recent series The Waking of a Nation—that Jallianwala Bagh was a premeditated massacre. An investigation of this, and the real facts of Nair's life, would've been enough for a fine, sobering film. Instead, we get a misleading wishful fantasy. 'The event speaks to the present times that we live in,' Tyagi told Mid-Day. 'It's a post-truth world where fake news is rampant.' But Kesari 2 is also post-truth.'
