14 govt school students to visit Germany for vocational training: Delhi CM
At a special felicitation ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat, CM Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood praised the students who, despite limited resources, gave wings to their dreams through hard work and excellence.
The 14 selected students from Delhi Government schools will soon study in Germany under the APAL (Ausbildung Programm für Auszubildende in Deutschland) Project 2025 for a vocational education and training programme.
The Federal Employment Agency (BA) of Germany, responsible for employment benefits and job market operations across the country, had launched a flagship initiative known as APAL - 'Training Partnerships with Latin America, India, and Uzbekistan.'
CM Gupta stated that it has always been the commitment of the Delhi government to ensure that every child receives world-class education, skill development, and global opportunities, regardless of their socio-economic background.
The selection of these children is a living example of that very commitment, she said, adding, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all these children. This journey is not just theirs, but also a step toward building a new India - one where dreams know no bounds."
Sood also briefed the 14 students from Delhi Government schools who have been selected to participate in the APAL Project 2025.
This programme offers an opportunity to young individuals to pursue dual vocational training in Germany, a global leader in skill development and education.
Sood stated that a kind of exchange programme has been established between the Delhi government and the German government, focusing on both skilling and employability.
Under this programme, these 14 students will go to Germany, where they will receive training and pursue their education for a duration of 3 to 3.5 years, and eventually secure placements.
He further shared that the way Delhi's meritorious students are getting inspired in the field of education will open up many new opportunities for technical education and training, along with other countries.
Sood said ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched initiatives like Skill India, the country's reputation has grown internationally.
'Under the guidance of the Government of India, the Delhi government has also made significant strides in the areas of skilling and employability. We have made conscious efforts to ensure that Delhi's children receive quality skill-based education and become employable,' he said.

Many feel the chief minister will increase the grant further to Rs 1 lakh in an announcement at the July 31 meeting. The chief minister will preside over the meeting, which is expected to see representatives from approximately 5,000 puja committees, high-ranking police officers, Kolkata's mayor, and officials from the fire department, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, and other agencies. Puja committee officials are eagerly awaiting the day, as the chief minister traditionally announces not only financial aid but also various exemptions for the festival. Checks of the government grant are typically disbursed to committees via local police stations. Political analysts are keenly observing this year's meeting, given its timing ahead of the Assembly elections next year. The Trinamool Congress has seen positive electoral outcomes linked to the puja grants. With the Lok Sabha elections having concluded last year, during which the grant was increased, the potential increase in the grant to 1 lakh just before the Assembly elections is seen by political circles as a strategic move that could positively influence the ballot. Over 14,000 men among 26 lakh ineligible beneficiaries barred from Maharashtra's Ladki Bahin scheme for women
The Maharashtra Government has suspended 26.34 lakh beneficiaries from its flagship Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana after a verification exercise revealed large-scale irregularities, including the presence of over 14,000 male claimants of the dole meant for women. While some were availing of the benefits of multiple government schemes, some families had more than two members receiving benefits, and some men were also found to be availing of the scheme's benefits. In a statement issued by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare on Sunday, the department confirmed that it had sought data from all state departments to verify the eligibility of applicants under the scheme. The verification, conducted by the Department of Information and Technology, flagged lakhs of entries where beneficiaries were found ineligible but continued to receive financial support under the scheme. 'Some beneficiaries were found to be availing of multiple government schemes. In other cases, families had more than two members receiving benefits. Shockingly, there were also instances where male applicants had been granted funds under the scheme,' Tatkare said. Based on these findings, disbursement of funds to 26.34 lakh such accounts has been temporarily stopped starting June 2025. The minister clarified that this was a precautionary suspension and that district collectors had been tasked with conducting a detailed review to determine eligibility. 'Those found to be genuinely eligible will have their benefits restored,' Tatkare said. Despite the suspension, around 2.25 crore eligible women received the monthly Rs 1,500 dole for June 2025. The discovery that 14,298 men had availed of benefits under the scheme for women has drawn sharp criticism from the Opposition. The Government has since removed all such ineligible male beneficiaries from the list. Responding to the criticism, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said the state would recover the amounts disbursed to these individuals and would take legal action if they fail to cooperate. 'This scheme was launched with a sincere intention to support poor women. It was never meant for men. Misuse will not be tolerated,' Pawar said, when asked about the matter. The Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched in August 2024 by the Eknath Shinde-led Maha Yuti Government ahead of the Assembly polls, with the monthly dole credited directly into the bank accounts of women whose annual income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh. The scheme gained widespread traction across the state, especially in the run-up to the Assembly elections, and credit was given to the scheme for the victory of the Mahayuti. During the Assembly elections, Mahayuti leaders had promised to raise this amount to Rs 2,100, which was considered instrumental in helping the alliance return to power. In March, during the first budget presented by the Government under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, no announcement was made regarding the anticipated increase in the Ladki Bahin dole. The Opposition has been targeting the government over increasing the dole and accusing the government of hurriedly starting the scheme with an eye on the Assembly polls and overburdening the exchequer. Meanwhile, Tatkare added that the Government would soon decide — in consultation with Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Shinde and Pawar — on the course of action to be taken against fraudulent or fake claimants who had deliberately misled authorities to claim benefits.

Government rejects Congress' allegations about a ₹2.1 lakh crore organic cotton scam in Madhya Pradesh
The Government on Sunday (July 27, 2025) termed the allegations by the Indian National Congress that normal cotton was being sold as organic cotton in Madhya Pradesh as being 'unfounded, unsubstantiated and misleading', saying that the Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) takes concrete steps whenever wilful violations of organic cotton standards are found. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday (July 26, 2025) called for a court-monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into an alleged ₹2.1 lakh crore scam in the sale of normal cotton as organic cotton in Madhya Pradesh. 'It may be mentioned that in a press briefing by an opposition leader yesterday, unfounded, unsubstantiated and misleading aspersions are being cast against the Organic Certification programme, the National Programme of Organic Production (NPOP),' the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in its statement. 'Generalised allegations against a robust regulatory system of the country for a particular crop/region/group of operators only serve to undermine the credibility of legitimate regulatory institutions and the broader organic movement in India,' it added. Mr. Singh said that the objective of NPOP, launched in 2001 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and implemented by APEDA, was to certify and regulate the export of organic products. Under this framework, he explained, the NPOP accredits certification bodies, which in turn verify internal control systems. However, he alleged that most farmers who are shown as registered under the internal control systems (ICS) do not grow organic cotton. He added that the government provides these farmer groups with ₹50,000 per hectare for three years to promote organic cotton. 'In short, ICS groups have deliberately committed fraud by adding farmers' names to obtain transaction certificates,' Mr. Singh alleged. The government, however, has categorically refuted this. 'It is clarified that APEDA or the Department of Commerce does not extend any subsidy to farmers taking up organic cultivation under the NPOP,' the statement said. 'The figure of ₹50,000 per hectare and the further wrongly imputed calculations have no basis.' While the government did admit that, despite its checks and balances, 'there have been reported incidences of malpractices and misuse of grower group certification', APEDA has taken strict and concrete action against violators. 'Stringent action has been taken against the cases of wilful violation and severe non-conformities of Certification Bodies with the NPOP standards,' the statement said. 'The NPOP regulations have been revised, bringing in stricter norms in terms of legal entity of grower groups, close monitoring through ICS offices in the vicinity of the grower group, and inspection of grower groups through a mobile app is going to be started shortly.' Further, it said that new procedures have been devised for additional checks for certification of organic cotton production, including a manifold increase in the number of unannounced inspections. 'Wherever credible evidence of non-compliances/wilful violation of organic standards has been brought to light, APEDA has undertaken extensive investigation and taken concrete measures,' the government clarified. 'All such matters are subjected to structured investigation following principles of natural justice. Any Certification Body or operator found violating norms is penalised as per NPOP regulation.'
