Mechanical sweepers reduce road dust and fine particulate matter — PM10/PM2.5, which are among the major contributors to air pollution. The Authority already has four such machines, which cover nearly 200 km per day.
Greater Noida is spread over 380 square kilometres and has 95 sectors and 124 villages, divided into eight administrative zones known as work circles. According to the 2011 census, the population was one lakh, which has now grown to an estimated 10 lakh.
The authority aims to carry out full-scale operation and maintenance of the two mechanical sweepers, each covering 57 kilometres daily, thereby ensuring that over 114 kilometres of city roads are cleaned every day.
Some of these roads are from Wipro rotary to P3 rotary, 130-metre-wide road near Aicher T-Point, Sector 36/37 to Sigma ¾, Wipro rotary to AVJ T-Point, LG rotary to AVJ Cut, Amritpuram rotary to ATS rotary, Vishwa Bharti School to Kakipur, Nawada rotary to Sai Mandir, etc.
"The agency hired for this task shall ensure that each main road is swept at least once daily. The agency must also ensure that all markets within the designated road zones are swept at night, with cleanliness completed before 6:00 AM, including during weekly markets. The mechanised sweeping will be conducted between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM," the RFP document said.
An authority official said that the agency will be required to provide a skilled operator with a valid heavy commercial vehicle driving licence and at least one helper trained in operating the machine.

"The agency will arrange for weekly washing of all vehicles and equipment during non-operational hours. To avoid traffic disruption, all collected waste must be transported directly to the sanitary landfill facility in Astauli or any other site specified by GNIDA. Mid-route dumping is strictly prohibited," he said.
Notably, Noida Authority has already been using mechanical sweeping machines for cleaning city roads since 2019.

Noida Authority set to build 35 traffic booths in city

Noida: The Noida Authority is planning to construct around 35 modern traffic booths across the city to enhance the working conditions of traffic personnel and streamline vehicular movement in high-traffic zones. These booths will be installed at those points where traffic volume is consistently high, particularly during peak hours. These include busy intersections, roundabouts, and identified "dark spots" where traffic regulation is currently hampered due to the absence of infrastructure. Authority officials have nearly finalised the design and are expected to float tenders for construction soon. "These booths are crucial to protect traffic personnel from extreme weather conditions while also offering them a vantage point to manage traffic more effectively," said a senior Authority official. In June, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Lakhan Singh Yadav, wrote a letter to the Authority mentioning about 30 key locations for the booths. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cardiologists: Teaspoon On an Empty Stomach Slims Waist from 36 To 22 Health Wellness Journal Learn more Undo This number has now gone up. The Authority plans to install the traffic booths in high-density areas like NTPC Flyover, Sector 62 Underpass, Sector 15 Metro Hospital Chowk, Film City Flyover, DND Loop, Mahamaya Flyover, Shashi Chowk, Parthla Roundabout, and Sector 104 Hydel Roundabout. Each booth costs approximately Rs 1.5 lakh, totaling Rs 50–55 lakh. These booths will serve as shelters and operational posts to improve traffic monitoring and ease congestion, especially during peak hours, accidents, or rainfall, given Noida's heavy daily vehicle movement from Delhi and nearby districts. The Authority plans to complete the construction and installation of the booths over the next few months, pending the finalisation of the tendering process.

MahaRERA pulls up real estate developer for allotting parking in a different wing, cites deficiency in service

A group of three Mumbai-based homebuyers recently approached the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA), alleging they were allotted parking spaces in a different wing than the one in which they had purchased their flats. In its order, the Authority stated that the developer's failure to allot specific, dedicated parking spaces amounts to a deficiency in service and a breach of obligations under RERA. Mumbai real estate update: The homebuyers had purchased their apartments between 2018 and 2020 for a combined value of over ₹ 3.5 crore, which included the cost of one 'puzzle car parking space' (mechanical) each. (Picture for representational purposes only)(Unsplash) The case Three homebuyers who purchased units in the D and E wings of Veena Serenity, a project by Mumbai-based Veena Developers in Tilak Nagar, were allegedly allocated parking spaces in the C wing. However, after the formation of the housing society, wings A, B, and C were grouped into one society, while D and E formed a separate one. As a result, residents of the C wing society informed the D wing buyers that they could no longer use the parking within their premises. The buyers had purchased their apartments between 2018 and 2020 for a combined value of over ₹3.5 crore, which included the cost of one 'puzzle car parking space' (mechanical) each. The homebuyers alleged that although the 'puzzle car parking spaces' were allotted to each homebuyer via separate allotment letters and confirmed through stickers issued by the developer, none of the homebuyers were provided with a dedicated, numbered parking slot, as required. The homebuyers said two separate cooperative housing societies were formed, one comprising wings A, B and C, and another comprising wings D and E. The developer's staff orally informed the homebuyers that their allotted puzzle car parking spaces were located in Wing C, belonging to the other society. Upon contacting the office bearers of the A, B, and C societies, the homebuyers were informed that residents of wings D and E are prohibited from parking in wings A, B and C, leaving them without access to the parking spaces they had paid for as part of their flat purchases, homebuyers said. Also Read: Dubai vs Mumbai: What ₹5 crore can fetch you in real estate, returns, maintenance costs and more The homebuyers alleged that they repeatedly corresponded with the developer from 2021 onwards, urging resolution of the parking issue. However, despite the existence of a sanctioned layout plan detailing designated parking numbers, the respondent failed to allocate a dedicated puzzle parking space or provide clarity regarding its location. MahaRERA's circular on parking The homebuyers told MahaRERA that, as per the authority's 2021 circular, all parking spaces must be clearly marked, numbered, and linked to specific apartments. They alleged that the developer violated these guidelines by failing to mention exact parking numbers in the allotment letters or agreements for sale. The homebuyers alleged that the sanctioned layout plan and details available on the MahaRERA website confirm adequate parking provisions across all five wings. However, the developer's failure to meet regulatory obligations has caused them continued mental distress and inconvenience. MahaRERA's order said, "The Authority finds that the respondent's failure to allot specific, dedicated parking spaces constitutes a deficiency in service and a breach of obligations under RERA." In its order dated July 10, 2025, MahaRERA directed the developer to allot and hand over a specific, numbered 'puzzle car parking space' located within wings D and E of the said project to each homebuyer within 60 days from the date of the order. Crater-ridden NH 66 on Surathkal-Nanthoor stretch drives motorists into tizzy

The inability of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to undertake total renewal and repair of the B.C. Road-NITK Surathkal Port Connectivity Road before the onset of Monsoon has left the highway, particularly NH 66 between Nanthoor and Surathikal in a perilous condition threatening the safety of motorists. While the Authority could undertake total road renewal of about 2 km stretch between NITK and Surathkal flyover, early rains thwarted its plans of renewing the remaining stretch between Surahtkal and Baikampady and repairing the Baikampady-Nanthoor stretch, leaving the highway in a mess. Series of potholes and craters dot the right hand-side of the carriageways, that is, next to the medians, caused by constant waterlogging and wear and tear on account of regular movement of heavy goods vehicles. The entire stretch lacks proper rainwater drainage system on the carriageways as a result of which water stagnates next to the medians. The top layer of both the carriageways on Baikampady-Kulur stretch that passes through New Mangalore Port, has completely worn out presenting an awful picture. While cars and other bigger vehicles somehow negotiate the stretch with difficulty, two-wheeler riders risk their life to pass through the stretch. Two-wheeler rider, Surathkal Janatha Colony resident Mahammed Ashraf who fell on the road in his attempt to negotiate a crater at Panambur, was crushed under the wheels of a tanker truck on June 9. Traffic snarls As the vehicles move slowly to negotiate the battered stretches of the highway, traffic snarls and traffic jams have become an order of the day, rued Manjunath Prasad, who regularly rides between Surathkal and Mangaluru. While motorists would drive or ride almost blindfolded when it rains, they wade through clouds of dust when it shines, he regretted. Delayed start Though the Port Connectivity Road, NH 75 between B.C. Road-Nanthoor and NH 66 between Nanthoor-NITK Surathkal was developed by a special purpose vehicle, New Mangalore Port Road Company Ltd., the SPV had abandoned the maintenance work long ago. Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta with his persistent efforts, got funds sanctioned from Union Road Transport Ministry for total renewal and repair through NHAI. While the contractor was finalised on April 10, the work commenced on April 24 even as it began to rain heavily from May third week.
