Why has 'The Hunting Wives' taken Netflix by storm?
Based on May Cobb's 2021 novel, the series stars Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Dermot Mulroney, Chrissy Metz and Katie Lowes. Originally planned for release on Starz, the project was dropped by the network just weeks before its premiere. Lionsgate then moved it to Netflix, exposing the drama to a much larger audience. Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter credits its success to embracing pulp fiction elements without restraint.
The plot follows Sophie O'Neil, played by Snow, a coastal career woman from Cambridge who relocates to the fictional Texan town of Maple Brook. There she becomes entangled with a clique of wealthy, gun-carrying women who call themselves 'wives' rather than workers. The show layers mystery and murder over a backdrop of right-versus-left culture wars, making it both provocative and binge-worthy.
Online chatter has centred heavily on the show's intimate moments, which include sapphic encounters, threesomes and secluded cabin scenes. Cutter admitted she initially questioned whether the sheer number of these moments would help or harm the show but ultimately leaned into it. Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Reddit have been flooded with fan reactions, many joking about questioning their sexuality after watching.
The show's popularity has also driven a huge spike in book sales, with The Hunting Wives jumping 5,000 percent on Amazon and landing in its top 10. Fans are particularly praising Akerman's portrayal of Margo Banks, the ringleader of the wives, and the contrast between the characters' exploration of desire and the conservative setting of the Texan community.
Brittany Snow recently joked on Late Night With Seth Meyers that her mother's friends had to fast-forward through most episodes due to the number of intimate scenes. With its mix of drama, intrigue and unapologetic storytelling, The Hunting Wives shows no signs of losing momentum.

Sophie Turner says kissing Kit Harington in ‘The Dreadful' was the worst part of filming
Sophie Turner has revealed that filming intimate scenes with Kit Harington in their upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of her career. The actress opened up during her appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on August 14, admitting that the pair struggled with kissing scenes because of their long-standing sibling-like bond from Game of Thrones. Turner, who is also producing the film, explained that she suggested Harington for the role after reading writer-director Natasha Kermani's script. Although excited to work together again, the pair quickly realised how difficult it would be to shake off their history as Sansa Stark and Jon Snow. 'I sent the script to Kit and he messaged me back saying, 'Yeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really weird, Soph,'' Turner recalled. It wasn't until she re-read the script that she understood his hesitation, realising it involved multiple romantic moments. Despite their initial reluctance, both Turner and Harington agreed the project was too strong to pass up. Once on set, however, reality hit. 'We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and it's the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst,' Turner admitted. Set in the 15th century, The Dreadful follows Anne, played by Turner, and her mother-in-law Morwen as they live on the fringes of society. Their quiet lives are disrupted when a man from Anne's past resurfaces, setting off a dark chain of events. Alongside Turner and Harington, the cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O'Fuarain and Jonathan Howard. The film has not yet received an official release date, but anticipation is high given the reunion of the former Game of Thrones stars. Their on-screen relationship may now be very different, but Turner made it clear that the awkwardness only underlined how deeply their sibling bond remains. Even while promoting her new project, she couldn't resist laughing about how surreal the experience was.

Is Halsey bringing back the ‘Badlands' era with new videos
Halsey has announced that two of her most beloved tracks from her 2015 debut album Badlands will finally receive a visual treatment a decade after their release. The singer revealed that Drive and Gasoline are set to be released together as a double feature music video, reigniting excitement among fans who have long associated these tracks with the start of her rise in pop. In a teaser clip shared on Instagram, Halsey appeared in her trademark blue hair from the Badlands era, driving a pink convertible through moody landscapes that recall the grungy visuals of the original album cycle. Other scenes showed the star in a glowing pink hue, racing down flickering corridors, and embracing a darker, more dramatic tone that harks back to the identity of her earliest work. The screen flashed the message '10 years later … we never left,' signalling the nostalgia-driven project. The news arrives almost ten years to the day since Halsey's debut album first dropped, cementing her place as one of the biggest names in pop at the time. Badlands entered the Billboard 200 at number two and spawned defining singles like Colors and New Americana. Though Halsey has since released four more albums, including 2024's The Great Impersonator, the Badlands era has remained a cornerstone of her career, with fans continuing to celebrate its anniversary each year. This double video project comes at a pivotal moment, as Halsey has recently been on the road promoting The Great Impersonator. While the tour incorporated tracks from across her catalogue, fans never stopped clamouring for deeper cuts from Badlands. The announcement not only honours her early work but also strengthens the bond between artist and audience, as many listeners still recall how those songs first connected them to her music. Halsey wrote online that she always believed Badlands was something special, no matter how public perception shifted over time. For her most loyal fans, this visual revival offers a chance to relive the album's original magic while celebrating how far both the artist and her audience have come.
