Linkin Park Fans Will Never Be Done With The Band's Debut Album

Forbes13-04-2025
No matter how much time passes or how many new songs emerge, Linkin Park will always be defined, at least in part, by Hybrid Theory. The band's debut full-length not only introduced its nu-metal sound to the world, it helped shape a generation of alternative and hard rock fans. More than two decades after it first arrived, the album is still a regular on Billboard's charts, and this week marks another exciting chapter in its story.
Hybrid Theory finds space on five different Billboard rankings this week, which is relatively rare for a project released in 2000. The beloved effort returns to four of those tallies and makes an especially large leap on one more.
The collection reappears highest on the Top Alternative Albums list, where it blasts back onto the tally at No. 18. It's not too far behind on both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums rosters, returning to those rankings at Nos. 22 and 28, respectively.
Hybrid Theory even manages to claw its way back onto the Billboard 200. On the all-genre ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S., the title finds a home at No. 130.
The only Billboard list Hybrid Theory doesn't have to reenter is the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, where it remains a mainstay. This time around, the blockbuster doesn't just hold steady, it jumps. The set lifts from No. 22 to No. 5, charging back into the uppermost tier.
Hybrid Theory lands just one rung behind Meteora, the band's sophomore project and longtime companion on these rankings. That effort dips slightly to No. 4, giving Linkin Park two titles inside the top five.
According to Luminate, Hybrid Theory shifted 10,700 equivalent units in the U.S. last week. That total includes streaming, sales, and other forms of consumption. Just under 1,500 copies of the album were sold as pure purchases — an impressive number for a full-length that many fans already own, either digitally or physically.
Hybrid Theory hasn't just shown up on Billboard's charts from time to time, it's been present on many of them for years. The project has racked up hundreds of weeks on each of the five tallies it currently appears on.
It's spent the most time on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, where it's now up to 420 frames and counting. On the Top Rock Albums ranking, it's logged 272 weeks. On the other three lists where it's present, the album has also earned somewhere in the 300-week range, though exact counts vary slightly.
Hybrid Theory is one of four Linkin Park albums that show up on at least one Billboard tally this week in the U.S. Its immediate successor Meteora joins it on all five of the same lists. Meanwhile, both Papercuts, the band's recently-released greatest hits compilation, and From Zero, the group's comeback effort, appear on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart only.
Hybrid Theory first arrived in October 2000 and introduced the world to hits like 'In the End' and 'Crawling.' Since then, the album has been certified Diamond by the RIAA and become one of the most important rock releases of the twenty-first century.

Deftones Blocked From A Second Career No. 1 Smash

Later this week, the rock band Deftones will release Private Music, its first new album in five years. The group has been promoting the forthcoming set with a handful of singles, both of which have become big wins on a number of Billboard charts. This week, just days before the full-length arrives, the outfit scores a new smash with 'Milk of the Madonna,' which almost helps the outfit double its total number of champions on one chart. 'Milk of the Madonna' Launches at No. 2 'Milk of the Madonna' opens on a number of Billboard lists focused on rock music, and it performs the best on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. On that ranking, Deftones launches its latest tune at No. 2. Another newcomer, 'Specter' by Bad Omens, beats Deftones to the top spot as that single launches in first place. Deftones Almost Chart a Second No. 1 Deftones reached No. 1 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart for the very first time just a month ago. 'My Mind Is a Mountain,' the lead single from Private Music, debuted at No. 1, and it has thus far spent five frames somewhere on the tally of the most consumed hard rock cuts in the country. At the moment, it appears at No. 5, up several slots from last time around. A Dozen Hot Hard Rock Songs Chart Hits Throughout the years, Deftones have sent 12 tracks to the Hot Hard Rock Songs tally, and half of those have made it into the uppermost region. In addition to both 'My Mind Is a Mountain' and 'Milk of the Madonna,' 'Ohms,' 'Genesis,' 'Ceremony,' and 'Urantia' also became top 10 successes, peaking at Nos. 2, 3, 9, and 10, respectively. 'Milk of the Madonna' Debuts Inside the Top 10 'Milk of the Madonna' manages to open inside the top 10 on three of the six Billboard lists on which it debuts. In addition to the Hot Hard Rock Songs ranking, the cut also becomes a top 10 smash on the Alternative Digital Song Sales and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts, where it begins its time at Nos. 7 and 10, respectively. The single is another win for Deftones on three other general consumption lists as well. 'Milk of the Madonna' debuts at No. 19 on both the Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs tallies, and at No. 23 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

Huntr/x And 11 Other Best Fake Bands From Movies And TV

I have to admit: sometimes, the fake bands in movies and shows go harder than the real ones. Honestly, can you blame me? It's not my fault they have such catchy songs... These groups have given us performances so good, that some have even gone on to become real-life bands. Sorry to your favourite rock legends, but I'll take a Big Time Rush hook over a Rolling Stones riff any day. Here are 12 movie and TV bands that are so iconic, they make actual bands look like amateurs. Huntr/x from Kpop Demon Hunters (2025) are pure queens. A K-pop girl group who double as demon slayers? Yeah, they're eating up the competition. Literally! They just became the first girl group to hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Destiny's Child in 2001. Their songs are total bops (especially "Golden"), that Netflix even hosted sing-along screenings for fans. The Archies from The Archie Show (1968) were bubblegum pop royalty. Did you know that these comic book characters (turned TV stars) are responsible for the hit track "Sugar, Sugar"? It spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and is still the ultimate '60s teen anthem. If your parents haven't heard of this track, I'd be very surprised. The Cheetah Girls from The Cheetah Girls (2003) were the ultimate Disney girl group. Their first film had a long list of achievements: it was the first DCOM musical, and the soundtrack sold 2 million copies in the U.S. They really said "world domination"! After the success of the first movie, they launched two more, plus multiple tours. "Amigas, Cheetahs, friends for life" still runs through my head on repeat. The Blues Brothers from Saturday Night Live (1978) have one of the most unusual origin as a comedy sketch, Dan Aykroyd and Jon Belushi's cover of "Soul Man" hit No.14 on Billboard. They later made several albums and a movie, further cementing themselves in pop culture history. Josie and the Pussycats from Josie and the Pussycats (2001) are coincidentally yet another animal-print girl group that absolutely ROCKED. The movie was super campy, the songs slapped, and yet — the movie flopped at the time. Honestly, it was just too ahead of its time — a story about the government using subliminal messages in music was A LOT for audiences back then. Today? It's a total cult classic! The soundtrack still hit its mark, climbing to No.16 on the Billboard soundtrack charts at the time. The New Directions from Glee (2009-2015) were the ultimate glee club, period. Their cover of "Don't Stop Believin" hit No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2009 — and that was just the beginning. The show was hilarious, unhinged, sometimes problematic, but always packed with amazing covers and original songs. The group even went on tour and had a concert movie. These stars were more than just a TV band, they were a cultural phenomenon. Pink Slip from Freaky Friday (2003) gave us the Lindsay Lohan pop-punk moment we didn't even know we needed. "Take Me Away" is still an absolute head-banger, and even made a reappearance in Freakier Friday (2025), the sequel! The song was originally by the Australian band, Lash, but honestly? Lohan and Pink Slip made it even better. Sex Bob-Omb from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010) were messy, loud, chaotic, and totally iconic. It was a box office bob-omb at first, but overtime it quickly became a beloved flick by comic, music, and movie fans alike. Fun fact: musician Beck even helped craft the band's songs! Big Time Rush from Big Time Rush (2009-2013) started out as a fake boyband and somehow became real. They toured arenas, released three Billboard 200 top-20 albums, and even had Snoop Dogg feature on one of their hits, "Boyfriend." These boys were so famous at the time that they even had One Direction open up for them. The show was hilarious, but the music? Legendary. The Barden Bellas from Pitch Perfect (2012) basically made a cappella cool again. Every rehearsal, mashup, and competition scene was cinematic gold. Their performances had millions of viewers falling in love with show choir music, and yes — they even topped real-world charts. This movie single-handedly turned a cappella into a cultural moment, and gave the ICCAs (International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella competition) a major uprise in ticket sales. I was once in a University a cappella group too, so this one hits close to home... The Wonders from That Thing You Do! (1996) were so convincing, people genuinely thought they were a real '60s band. Their fake one-hit wonder, "That Thing You Do!" became an instant classic — and people love it even 25 years later. The song even reached No.41 on the Billboard Hot 100, proving that fake bands can still have amazingly catchy songs. The Stiff Dylans from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008) were literally every teenage girl's dream. Georgia's crush Robbie played in this teen pop-rock band with the catchiest song ever, "Ultraviolet." Were they everyone's favourite? Absolutely. Were they my favourite? Also absolutely. From saving the world to dominating the charts, these bands proved that some fictional music groups hit harder than the real ones. Who's your fave fake band or solo act? Let us know in the comments! Justin Bieber Misses No. 1 As The Same Smash Blocks Him From Ruling

When Justin Bieber surprise-released his new album Swag, the focus track 'Daisies' immediately became a big hit. That single remains one of the pop superstar's most successful tunes in years, but it's not the only big win from the Grammy winner's latest project. 'Yukon' has been picking up steam for several weeks, and especially in the R&B space, the Swag tune has become a proper smash. 'Yukon' climbs on almost every Billboard chart on which it appears, and as it becomes another leader for Bieber on a handful of tallies, it just barely misses out on reaching the throne on a few other lists — but it could conquer them very soon. Justin Bieber Loses Out to Chris Brown Bieber lands at No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B Digital Song Sales charts this week. On the busier list, which includes R&B, hip-hop, and rap, 'Yukon' advances from No. 4 to No. 2, while on the R&B Digital Song Sales tally, the cut only needs to step up a single spot. In both instances, Bieber is held back by 'It Depends,' a collaboration between Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller, which keeps at No. 1. Justin Bieber's Two Sales No. 1s 'Yukon' almost gives Bieber his third No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, but for the moment, it's tied as one of his many No. 2s. Previously, he's run the show with his own 'Yummy,' which commanded the lead for just one frame, as well as with 'I'm the One' alongside DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne. That smash spent nine weeks at No. 1. Much More Successful on the R&B Digital Song Sales Chart Bieber is far more successful on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, which is specific to just that one genre. On that tally, he's already reached No. 1 nine times, and 'Yukon' could very well become his milestone tenth champion. In addition to 'Yummy,' Bieber has also led the charge on the R&B Digital Song Sales list with 'Essence' alongside Wizkid and Tems, 'Peaches' with Daniel Caesar and Giveon, 'No Brainer' (another collaboration with DJ Khaled and Chance the Rapper, as well as Quavo), 'Intentions' with Quavo, 'Confident' with Chance the Rapper, 'PYD' with R. Kelly, and both 'Bad Day' and 'Recovery,' solo tracks that hit No. 1 more than a decade ago. Justin Bieber's 'Yukon' Rises to No. 1 While 'Yukon' might not be the bestselling track in the R&B space, it is the biggest streaming success. Bieber's new single leads both the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and R&B Streaming Songs charts, advancing from No. 2 to give him another winner.
