10 character interactions that need to happen in Corrie and Emmerdale crossover
ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set to make history next year when they air the first soap crossover episode.
The special episode will mark the beginning of a new scheduling pattern for the shows, and will see characters from both Weatherfield and Emmerdale interact.
Of course, this news immediately got our brains whirring with possibilities as we debated the countless scenarios that could be set to play out.
So, without further ado, here are the characters the Metro Soaps team are desperate to see interact.
As two of the longest serving soap stars, it would be a missed opportunity not to have Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) discuss the history of their communities.
Throw in Corrie's Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and Emmerdale's Rodney Blackstock (Patrick Mower) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles), and you have the recipe for a delicious soap scene packed with nostalgia.
Soaps often cover hard-hitting and topical issues, so it is unsurprising that their characters have similar experiences.
Two such characters are Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Ross Barton (Michael Parr), who both fell victim to acid attacks in terrifying scenes.
Having the two men candidly discuss their experience would be a moving and important scene, which could serve to further highlight the impact of such a violent crime.
In a battle of scheming soap murderesses, we're not sure who would come out on top between Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), but one thing is for certain: We're desperate to find out!
We're sure there'd be cutting remarks aplenty and more than one punch thrown, and though we certainly don't condone violence, we'd be totally here for it.
Real-life twins Isabella and William Flanagan are Corrie icons, having played Hope Stape and Joseph Brown respectively since their early childhoods.
Throw into the mix their older sister Amelia Flanagan, aka Emmerdale's April Windsor, and we'd get the whole clan together on screen!
Surely a moment to remember for their proud parents.
We can only imagine the level of chaos that putting Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) in a room with Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) would bring – not to mention the noise complaints!
These two icons would certainly bring the entertainment, and we need to see them whack out a karaoke duet immediately.
Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) have a lot in common, which could either be a match made in heaven or a complete disaster. Either way, excellent television.
These two political figures would no doubt put the world to rights with a lengthy debate and plenty of gossip.
The topics that could come up in a conversation between Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) truly know no bounds, which makes them the perfect pair to sit together and enjoy a pint.
We just know that by the end of the night Sam would have Kirk drinking out of the welly!
Leanne Battersby actress Jane Danson has thrown out her own suggestion of pairing Leanne with Emmerdale bad boy Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley). New romance on the cards, anyone?
They'd certainly give each other a run for their money, and Leanne is currently single… We can definitely get behind this!

Orlando Bloom wants to ‘get the band back together' for Pirates Of The Caribbean
The 48-year-old, who plays Will Turner in the Disney film franchise, told ITV's This Morning there is a chance the cast could reunite for a new instalment. Asked if more Pirates Of The Caribbean features are possible, he said: 'Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability. 'So he'd get really into the costume and what he was wearing, and the Liam look and everything, so it was a really great way into the character, and I had a lot of fun with it.' Amanda Holden 'goes naked' on radio after BGT dress Ofcom complaints
Amanda Holden took to the airwaves on Thursday morning alongside pal Jamie Theakston and appeared to be naked for their breakfast morning show on Heart FM Amanda Holden seemingly shunned any Ofcom complaints by appearing to be naked on air. The Britain's Got Talent judge's outfit on the ITV talent show's finale was criticised by some viewers, but she was clearly unfazed. She appears to have ignored any negative views - and looked to be completely nude on Heart FM's Breakfast Show's live stream. Her appearance even made her co-host Jamie Theakston do a double take. As she sat in her DJ chair on Thursday morning, she said on air: "Good morning, Mr Theakston. It is 6.30am and I've just caught myself on the camera and don't you think I look naked this morning? Sat behind here?" Jamie seemed to stumble in his response, replying: "Do you know what... You are wearing clothes, aren't you?" His comments amused his pal and co-host. She laughed as she said back: "I just looked and went, 'What? Have I forgotten to put my clothes on?'" The camera angle made it look like the 54-year-old had no clothes on, with only a chunky pearl necklace visible. She was, however, also wearing a pale pink strapless dress and was photographed outside of the London studios. As well as Amanda's BGT finale dress complaints following Saturday's show, fellow judge Alesha Dixon's attire was also criticised. The duo, alongside Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli, watched on as the public voted for magician Harry Moulding as their winner. In total, the female judges' outfits received 72 complaints to Ofcom. When contacted by the Mirror, Ofcom said they had received the complaints from viewers, who alleged the star's frocks were "too revealing for a family show". Amanda had stunned in her final outfit for the ITV talent competition after vowing to never tone down her fashion choices. It came after she had received a number of criticisms since the series started. She made sure to pull out all the stops for the star-studded finale, opting for a braless, plunging custom-made white silk gown from Saint Hendrix. She wore her hair slicked back into a bun with several bejewelled clips. Alesha meanwhile, turned heads in a sequin-strewn see-through jump suit, which revealed her underwear. It's far from the first time the pair's looks have been complained about on the show. In July 2017, Amanda wore a plunging see-through Julien Macdonald dress. It went on to be the most complained about TV moment of the year. The mum-of-two joked the incident was a 'national crisis' at the time. She teased in Closer magazine: "I'm always asked about the Ofcom complaints, but every outfit on the show is checked before I leave my dressing room, so I'm never worried. I think people should have fun with fashion!" She went on: "I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together... It's all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about. It's been called another national crisis – but, oh no, I will not be covered up."

Royal Ascot 2025, explained: Dates, race times, course guide and how to watch
Royal Ascot is British flat racing's most prestigious event and one of the highlights of the summer social season, with 35 races run over five days at the Berkshire racecourse. Aside from the sport, which features eight Group One races such as the Gold Cup, St James's Palace Stakes and Commonwealth Cup, it is a festival of fashion, hospitality and royal patronage. Last year, the King attended all five days bar Wednesday while the Queen was there for the entire showpiece. Royal Ascot is one of racing's most lucrative meetings with more than £10 million in prize money up for grabs. The two biggest prize pots of the week come in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. When is Royal Ascot? The first day of Royal Ascot is Tuesday, June 17 with the final day of racing on Saturday, June 21. The first race of each day should start at 2.30pm with the last race at 6.15pm, before racegoers shuffle back to Ascot train station or wrestle their way out of one of many car parks. How do I watch it in the UK? Every race of the meeting is being broadcast live on ITV1, with coverage also available on Sky Sports Racing for subscribers. How do I watch in the US? Assisted by racing anchor Nick Luck, NBC's streaming service Peacock offers full coverage of the meeting, as will betting-orientated channel FanDuelTV. How can I buy tickets? Tickets can be booked via the Royal Ascot website. If you want access to the more exclusive Royal Enclosure though, you will need to be a member or a member's guest. Applicants for membership need to be sponsored by two current members as well as pay a £100 joining fee. Members can apply for Royal Enclosure badges from January each year. There are still tickets on general sale though, ranging from £35 for Tuesday access to the Windsor Enclosure to £99 in the Queen Anne Enclosure. Prices rise slightly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On those final three days, there is also the middle-tier option of the Village Enclosure, where attendees can enjoy a post-racing concert until 9pm. Racegoers can also choose to purchase a 'party package' for up to six people, with £116 per person for the Queen Anne Enclosure on Tuesday including two drinks tokens and a race programme. For those who want to take the weight off their feet, there are also a range of 'ticket enhancements' available, such as booking picnic tables in the Queen Anne or access to the Terrace Club. Demand is high for the extra comfort. Course guide Horses have run at Ascot since 1711, when Queen Anne decided the heathland was ideal for 'horses to gallop at full stretch' while out riding. That August, 100 guineas were on offer for the winner of Her Majesty's Plate, open to any horse over the age of six. Remarkably, the race consisted of three heats of four miles, so it is fair to say it was not a test of speed. Today, races at the Royal meeting are run on a mixture of the round course and the straight. The round course is a 14-furlong right-handed track, with a relatively short run-in of just two-and-a-half furlongs meaning it can be difficult to win from off the pace. The shorter races, such as the six-furlong Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, are run along the straight in front of the grandstand.
