Rachel Zegler gives free Evita performance outside London theatre

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

Rachel Zegler is the latest star of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita, and musical fans can't help but praise her dedication to the role as she took to the theatre balcony for a free performance
Rachel Zegler has had her fair share of criticism after her recent role in Disney's Snow White, but it seems the public have changed their minds, as the talented performer gives the streets of London a free show.
Redefining herself as 'the people's princess', the 24-year-old star has embraced her latest part as the lead in the West End musical Evita, so much so that she gave Londoners a performance from the balcony of the London Palladium, completely free of charge.

The show is brought to the stage by the award-winning director Jamie Lloyd, alongside Tim Rice and, of course, the play's creator Andrew Lloyd Webber, in a limited 12-week run. Its story follows the tumultuous life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, from her humble beginnings to rising power and eventually her death.

Videos have flooded TikTok of the actress performing outside of the London Palladium to fans who didn't get tickets to see the show. One video shows her ethereally singing to the streets, as fans explain the real significance of this unusual move.
A user commented: "Absolutely stunning idea and a beautiful symbol – while the rich sit inside the theatre watching from the screen, Evita is outside on the balcony of the theatre addressing all those who can't afford to go to the theatre and/or are living on the streets of London. The whole idea of staging the song this way is truly incredible. Emotional. It says a lot, and I am here for it!"
Another shared: "Singing to the people on the street while the people who bought tickets have to watch through a screen is genuinely amazing directing. So badly wish I could see this."

People walking the streets of London and fans waiting by the stage door have been pleasantly surprised by the breath-taking performance during one of the shows' biggest songs. 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' is a poignant part in the play for her character and stands out amongst the other renowned hits.
However, some have criticised the creative decision, with one user saying: "Imagine paying to see the show and the biggest song isn't even performed on stage (I get it, but I'd still be gutted)."
Sharing the stage with Zelger are Diego Andres Rodriguez as Che, James Olivas as Juan Peron, Aaron Lee Lambert as Agustin Magaldi and Bella Brown playing The Mistress. So far into Evita's short run, it has received high praises from critics and musical lovers alike, and fans can't wait to catch the next glimpse of the star of the show from the theatre balcony.

'I spend £75k a month on essentials at 22 - I deserve comfort'

A young woman has revealed the jaw dropping amount she will happily spend on herself each month - and even though she is branded 'tone deaf' she doesn't let it stop her A woman has been slammed for her "tone deaf" spending habits after she revealed she forks out £75,000 a month on her cost of living. Model Camilla Araujo flaunts her lavish lifestyle online as she splurges on having a private chef, an at-home nail technician and massage therapist at her disposal. Her pricey essentials mean she can treat herself as much as she likes, as the 22-year-old multi-millionaire has said that she "deserves to be comfortable". ‌ Camila will happily splash £700 on a new set of nails, gets three massages a week and also enjoys a weekly IV drip to boost her health. While most people her age will only treat themselves to a manicure or a nice bottle of wine as a treat, Camilla has no issues spending the equivalent of a house deposit on herself in order to look good. ‌ The money is just a a drop in the bucket for Camilla, who lives in Miami and has 9.3m TikTok followers under her username @camilla - however this hasn't always been the case. She claims she now earns £12m a year, but grew up in a poor family and always "wanted more". But now she has made her fortunes, she said trolls have branded her spending habits as 'tone deaf' - although she just ignores them and makes no time for their comments. "People ask why I treat these things as essentials. The answer is simple – my time is valuable. If I'm spending hours doing chores or waiting in lines, I'm not making money. Trolls online love to pick apart women who live loudly. "I've been called tone-deaf, excessive, privileged – but no one handed me this life. I don't cook – I don't have the time – and eating out has become impossible with how often I get recognised so I have a private chef prepare my meals every day. I also have my nails done in my home; I'm not stepping out unless my hands look perfect." Camilla takes her person beauty and grooming very seriously, and also has a personal hairstylist and make-up artist, as well as getting a massage three times a week in order to keep up her appearances. She gets help from her personal assistant who takes care of the cleaning, organising and everything else. ‌ She further noted: "Plus, weekly IV treatments keep my body nourished and glowing. This all costs me £75,000 a month – and that's before we even talk about my wardrobe or travel." Camilla feels her time is too valuable to waste it doing chores and prefers to spend every minute of the day making money to fund her expensive lifestyle. She said: "I built my life to be efficient. Everything is designed so I can focus on my career, my goals, and my happiness." The influencer, who was born to Brazilian immigrant parents, uses the funds from her saucy career to support her parents, too. She refuses to back down to any trolls who think she shouldn't treat herself or her loved ones. She previously had to work two jobs and dropped out of college - so she gives what she can to her family. "I dropped out of college. I've lived through abuse, struggled financially and started from the bottom. So yes, I enjoy the life I've built. I deserve to be comfortable," she said, and added: "I deserve to feel good and I don't owe anyone an explanation for that – I don't think anyone does."

I'm a mum but people always think I'm my teen daughter's sister – it's such a boost, we share the same friends too

A MUM has revealed people regularly mistake her and her lookalike teenage daughter as sisters - and even stare in supermarkets. Lisa Johnston said people are often "gobsmacked" when they learn she's 36 and mum to her 18-year-old "built-in best friend" Alicia Johnston. 3 3 The semi-permanent make-up artist was just 17 when she had Alicia and says people regularly stare in the supermarket when they hear her beautician daughter call her 'Mum'. The lookalike pair, often mistaken as sisters on the school run, share clothes, make-up, shoes and even friends with one another. The mum-of-two artist regularly posts TikTok videos with Alicia leaving baffled users scratching their heads as to whether they really are mum and daughter or not - something Lisa sees as a "confidence boost". Lisa, from Glasgow, Scotland, said: "Everybody's a bit gobsmacked. "We've been out a couple of times together at pubs and things like that and everybody can't believe it either. They're like, 'What? Are you friends or sisters?'. "Someone once asked to see my ID because they couldn't believe it in one of the pubs we were at in town. "We could be out doing a food shop or something and maybe Alicia will turn around and say, 'Mum, can I get this?' "And you see people turn around and look as if to say, 'Mum?' They're really confused. "People thought when I was picking Alicia up from school that it was her older sister. I'm a 65-year-old gran but look so young people think I'm my daughter's twin - they're stunned when they hear the truth "People were like, 'You're picking your daughter up? What?' I did used to just laugh it off. "People say I look really young, it's quite nice actually, it's a confidence boost. "It's nice to know that I've actually produced a mini me. A few people have said we're like 'copy and paste'. "The more Alicia is getting older I can now see the big resemblance especially when we're doing the videos and things together. It is kind of like who's who?" Age-defying Lisa credits a healthy lifestyle and avoiding unnecessary stress for her youthful looks. She said: "Fitness and healthy eating is a big part of my lifestyle. I go to the gym five times a week. "I just try not to get too stressed out. I take life as fun, we're all just living life. "I don't get myself too riled up on anything, I think that's a big part as well. "It really is like having a built-in best friend." Youthful Lisa is also great pals with all of Alicia's pals - with daughter Alicia saying she's "part of the friendship group". Alicia said: "My friends love coming over because my mum is like a friend. They'll just chat away to her. "There will be times where I'm minding my own business and I'll get a phone call and they're like, 'I'm out with your mum right now.' "She's part of the friendship group. "I'm never really bothered when people mistake us for sisters, I think it's funny. "I would say this only started when I was about 15. I was just starting TikTok and me and mum were making TikTok videos together sometimes. "As I got older and I looked more like my mum, people were like, 'oh my God, you actually look so similar'. "We've basically got the same make-up routine and everything. So it's actually good sharing make-up shoes, hair products, everything." The pair share the same love of looking glam and Lisa has even taken an eyelash course so she can do her daughter's lashes on a budget. Lisa said: "I ended up showing Alicia how to do them [lashes] as well so that was something that we do together. "It was something I could pass down to her. "I was like, 'as they get older, the girls will want things done and their mum can do it instead of spending hundreds of pounds'." Social media users have been quick to share their confusion with some even questioning if they are really mother and daughter. One user said: "That is not your mummy she looks in her 20s."
