Michael ‘Venom' Page to make championship weight in case of UFC 319 main event collapse as he nears shock MW title shot

Watch the Brit reveal his plans in the video above MIKE DROP Michael 'Venom' Page to make championship weight in case of UFC 319 main event collapse as he nears shock MW title shot MICHAEL 'VENOM' PAGE never in his wildest dreams thought about fighting for the middleweight title when he joined the UFC two years ago. But despite entering the promotion as a welterweight, he finds himself potentially just TWO fights away from vying for the 185lbs belt. 8 Michael 'Venom' Page returns to the octagon at UFC 319 Credit: GETTY 8 Fan favourite will make his second outing at middleweight Credit: GETTY Advertisement 8 Page will take on veteran 185-pounder Jared Cannonier on a stacked Chicago card Credit: GETTY 8 A dominant win could put the Brit on the cusp of a shock crack at middleweight gold Credit: GETTY Page's unexpected middleweight journey continues in the early hours of Sunday morning on a stacked UFC 319 in Chicago. His second assignment in the weight class is wily veteran Jared Cannonier, who has ambitions of making one last run at the title. Advertisement And Page knows a spectacular showing against 'The Killa Gorilla' could very well put him within touching distance of an unexpected crack at middleweight gold. In an exclusive interview with SunSport, he said of potentially moving into title contention with a win over Cannonier: "100 per cent. "And again, it's like what I say: Just keep pushing forward, keep progressing forward, as long as the fight that you get represents progression. "It does put me in a very, very good place. So this win 100 per cent [puts me in title contention]. Advertisement "I'm not sure who the next person is gonna be, but it definitely puts me in a great location for the middleweight division." Page was all set on returning to welterweight after winning his middleweight bow against Shara 'Bullet' Magomedov in February. He said: "I was like, 'Yeah, I'm gonna get loads of requests now to push for another big fight.' And it was just silent, man. It was silent. "So you know, I was asking questions and then I was getting given names that, for me, I was like, 'This doesn't make any sense.' "I was like, 'I've just beaten someone that I'm sure had he beaten me, he would be talking title elimination next.' "'So then why am I getting a top No.20 rank and a No.22-ranked?' And in my head, I was like, 'This doesn't make any sense.' Advertisement "After speaking to a lot of people and going back and forth and so on and so forth, I realised the welterweight division is very political. "There's a lot of experienced guys that are at the top and it's a lot harder to push them to fight. "Whereas in in the middleweight division, there are a lot of up-and-coming guys, and they just wanna take fights just to try and keep proving themselves and going forward. "So I was just like, 'Yeah, let me just go to ask for a middleweight fight.' And I had a couple of names come through. "It landed on Cannonier, where it had [been] somebody else and I said yes to. Then that, I don't know, how it fell out, but it fell out. Advertisement "And then Canonnier came and confirmed and I was like, 'Yes.' To be fair, it was definitely a more exciting fight." The middleweight title will be on the line just a few hours after Page locks horns with Cannonier. It definitely puts me in a great location for the middleweight division Michael 'Venom' Page on a win over Jared Cannonier 8 The middleweight title will be on the line in UFC 319's main event Credit: UFC 8 MVP plans to make championship weight in case his services are called on Credit: GETTY And he'll will be making championship weight just in case something goes awry ahead of the eagerly anticipated showdown between champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev and back-up fighter Caio Borralho is unable to fight. Advertisement He said: " 100 per cent I'm making championship weight. Like, why, why would I not?" He added: "I'm gonna make that weight and if something was to go wrong and they asked to put me in, please understand that I'm putting my hand up. "And I'm jumping straight into that fight, like, face first into that fight. Page faces a Cannonier looking to prove he's still capable of making a run to the title at the ripe old age of 41. And at this juncture of his career, Page doesn't foresee the American deviating from what got him to the dance. Advertisement "If he's smart enough, he's gonna just want power forward," Page said." And like you say, get into cliches, get a hold of me, try and take me down to the floor, rough me up and utilise his size, utilise his strength. "And this is what we've been working for. I don't see him being able to do anything else. If he does anything else, it, it just makes the, the fight a lot easier for me. "If you try to stand, I know he's got heavy hands, but if you're gonna try to out strike me, it's gonna be a problem for you. "So again we've made the adjustments, we understand what he's gonna come in with."

How Brooklyn Beckham's ditched Brit pals in move ‘straight out of Prince Harry manual' as he ‘soft launches Brand Peltz'

WEDDINGS are usually about celebrating your love with your nearest and dearest - and that was certainly the case for Nicola Peltz-Beckham at her and Brooklyn's lavish vow renewal ceremony. The actress, 30, was surrounded by her loved ones at the glitzy event on her family estate in Westchester County, New York earlier this month - with her dad Nelson even officiating. 13 Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows at her family's estate on August 2 Credit: Instagram 13 Barely any of Brooklyn's friends from before he met Nicola appeared to be at the renewal. There was no sign of once-close pals Rocco Richie, Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais or Gordon Ramsay's son Jack - despite the celebrity chef and his family attending the couple's 2022 wedding. Instead the couple posed alongside Nicola's brothers, a selection of her friends from the acting world, and members of her glam squad. Brooklyn's parents Victoria, 51, dad David, 50 - currently on holiday in St Tropez - are said to be heartbroken at the very public snub, which will no doubt deepen the alleged rift between the Peltz-Beckhams and their in-laws. READ MORE ON THE BECKHAM FEUD HOUSE OF PAIN Toxic rift between Beckham and Peltz camps sparked by money row At Brooklyn's wedding to Nicola in 2022, the guest list appeared to be fairly evenly split - with his sister Harper, 14, one of Nicola's bridesmaids. But she, along with Brooklyn's brothers Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, failed to cop an invite for the vow renewal, and reportedly only found out about it when they read reports online. PR guru Mark Borkowski called it a move "straight out of the Prince Harry manual" - and warns this latest stunt could cause long-lasting reputational issues for the couple. He told The Sun: 'Brooklyn's vow renewal looked less like a family celebration and more like a soft launch for the Peltz brand - with the Beckham name parked politely at the diamond-encrusted gates. 'He's swapped the Brit pack tribal connections for Nicola's billionaire bubble, a move straight from the Prince Harry manual: ditch the old circle, live in your spouse's world, and curate a new reality. "From a brand point of view, it's risky. The Beckham Dynasty is still a golden ticket, but cut the supply lines to the family machine and the shine fades fast. Brooklyn Beckham & Nicola Peltz 'renew wedding vows' after 3 years of marriage 'If Brooklyn and Nicola can build something genuinely aspirational on their own, fine - but if not, they'll be remembered as the couple who traded a global dynasty for a glossy cul-de-sac.' It was previously reported that Brooklyn no longer has any contact with his old pals including Jack Ramsay, despite them once being "inseparable". 'He no longer speaks to Rocco Ritchie, Madonna and Guy Ritchie's son, with whom he attended the Hampstead Fine Arts college in Belsize Park, north-west London," claimed the Daily Mail. Brooklyn's vow renewal looked less like a family celebration and more like a soft launch for the Peltz brand Marc Borkowski The only visible friend of Brooklyn's who pre-dates Nicola was businessman Jeremy Clerc, seen on the floor in the centre of a group picture. Jeremy, who owns an assisted living business, featured on Brooklyn's Instagram in 2020 in a post captioned 'love you guys'. The rest of those pictured appear to be linked to Nicola - including actor Benny Buckley, who appeared alongside Nicola in her film Lola, and celebrity hair colourist Daniel Moon, who counts Kristen Stewart, Katy Perry and Madonna among his client roster. The group also features cinematographer and photographer Hunter Moreno, who works with Nicola's former BFF Selena Gomez and KSI; brothers Eran and Aran Shapov, who run a luxury construction company; LA real estate agent Anthony Barillo; make-up artist Georgi Sandev, and creative branding agency owner Dominic J West. 13 Brooklyn's little sister Harper was a bridesmaid at the couple's wedding in 2022 Credit: The Mega Agency 13 Brooklyn has reportedly stopped speaking to his old friend Rocco Ritchie since marrying Nicola Credit: Xposure 13 Brooklyn used to be close with Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais when living in the UK Credit: Getty - Contributor 13 He reportedly has no contact with Jack Ramsay who he grew up with Credit: Getty 13 At the renewal, Jeremy (right) seemed to be the only pal of Brooklyn's invited Credit: Instagram Other photos shared on Instagram by Brooklyn show the couple with members of Nicola's family. Many fans have commented on the absence of Brooklyn's brood, with one remarking: 'How can you break-up with three siblings and your parents after having such a big bond and life experience together?! It's really like cutting off your arm and pretending everything is normal.' Another wrote: "Cold, calculating, deeply hurtful to plan an event and exclude part of your family," while one branded the couple: "Harry and Meghan version 2." It's the latest kick in the teeth for the Beckham family after Nicola and Brooklyn snubbed David's 50th birthday bash, and Brooklyn didn't acknowledge Victoria on Mother's Day. The alleged feud is said to have been sparked by a row over money. Brooklyn has swapped the Brit pack tribal connections for Nicola's billionaire bubble, a move straight from the Prince Harry manual: ditch the old circle, live in your spouse's world, and curate a new reality Marc Borkowski A forensic pre-nup was apparently drawn up before Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding to secure the Peltz family's enormous wealth — a fortune that relatively dwarves the Beckhams'. The Peltzes have reportedly accused the Beckhams of being 'tight' and not amply providing for their beloved son. Meanwhile David, Victoria and the rest of the family are said to be hurt by their once-devoted eldest son becoming estranged - and hold Nicola responsible. A source said: 'They think Nicola is a bit of a horror but she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Nicola loves having Brooklyn at her side, and she loves him very much. But he is also very useful. 'The wider Beckham family and Brooklyn's friends – many of whom he no longer sees – take the view that he does what Nicola wants. From the Beckhams' point of view, it's not nice to watch.' It's been reported Brooklyn has not had contact with his family for months, and "it feels clear to them that he doesn't want to make amends". 13 Nicola had her brother Bradley at the renewal, while Brooklyn had no family Credit: Instagram/brooklynpeltzbeckham 13 Nicola has curated a group of friends with connections across the showbiz industry Credit: Instagram 13 Nicola and Brooklyn have gushed all over social media about their vow renewal Credit: Instagram
