Kaizer Chiefs' biggest current weakness revealed
New striker Flavio Silva is completely untested at this level.
Meanwhile, the club's pursuit of Etiosa Ighodaro still hasn't borne fruit.
OPINION: Why Kaizer Chiefs should sell Mdu Shabalala
New man Flavio Silva has given birth to plenty of memes online after his poor performances in pre-season in the Netherlands, but we'll give him time for now. Relatively new arrival Tashreeq Morris is a veteran of the South African scene but hardly a long-term option at 31. Also, he's never been the most prolific player. For all of his industry and hard work, 28-year-old Ashley Du Preez is also not the answer. Can Etiosa Ighodaro come in and buck this trend, and will Chiefs even pull off a deal for the 24-year-old Nigerian?
Mduduzi Shabalala and Mdundo Vilakazi are understandably loved by Amakhosi faithful after coming through the club's DDC ranks. However, Vilakazi is still not a first-team regular, while 21-year-old Shabalala's goal/assist output isn't reliable as things stand. His decision-making in the final third has also been questioned more than once.

With Cape Town Spurs now in the third tier of South African football, Chiefs believe this is the time to pounce for Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman. Chiefs believed that targets Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi were no longer contractually tied to the Mother City outfit Cape Town Spurs. This, after Spurs' relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the amateur ABC Motsepe League.

Why Orlando Pirates strikers were missing on Saturday
The future of Orlando Pirates strikers Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa became a hot topic following their surprising absence in the team's recent MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Polokwane City. The duo, who have shared the number nine role under former coach Jose Riveiro, were both missing from the matchday squad, raising eyebrows among supporters and analysts alike. In their place, head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou opted to start with young forward Boitumelo Radiopane, while Orlando Pirates' new striker signing Yanela Mbuthuma (23) debuted from the bench. 'First of all, I want to say give love to everybody, bring the human being on the table. It is important to put trust on the table and not the playing role as a coach. 'I think the dynamics and the size of the club, the number of competitions that the club will play and the love that the coach is giving can help to keep everybody happy,' concluded the 46-year-old Orlando Pirates mentor.
