McTominay was already enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career by the time he broke the 63-year-old record set by Denis Law for the number of goals by a Scot in a Serie A campaign.
On top of that he's had pizzas named after him, fans have gotten tattoos in his honour and there's even a shrine dedicated to him.
Last weekend he helped Napoli put one hand on the Scudetto with a solid display in a 1-0 win over Lecce, with Billy Gilmour coming on to play a cameo role.
That result means Antonio Conte's men went six points clear of Inter Milan (the gap has since reduced back to three).

McTominay's performances throughout April have led to him being named the league's player of the month.
He becomes the first Scot to win the award - despite the success of the likes of Law, Graeme Souness and Lewis Ferguson before him.
The 28-year-old bagged five goals across April and will pick up the fan-voted award this weekend when he takes to the pitch for his team's game against Genoa.
On the back of his displays, Serie A's chief executive described McTominay's impact on the Italian top flight as "devastating".

League CEO Luigi De Siervo said: "Scott McTominay's impact on the league has been 'devastating', proving to be an absolute top player, the ideal prototype of the 'box-to-box' midfielder, decisive in both phases of the game.
"The five goals he scored in April alone put Napoli back on top of the table and allowed the player to set his own personal record for goals in a season.
'How can you sell him?' Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blasts Man Utd for Scott McTominay's transfer to Napoli
"He is the first Scotsman to win the Serie A Player of the Month award, an award that has been won a total of 11 times, out of 53 editions, by a Napoli player, a club that holds the absolute record in this special classification."
A statement from the league read: "The EA SPORTS FC Player Of The Month award for April has been assigned to Napoli player Scott McTominay. The trophy will be presented during the pre-match of Napoli vs Genoa, scheduled for Sunday 11th May 2025 at 8.45pm at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples.

"The fans' votes on http://serieapotm.easports.com/, combined with individual statistical data, determined Scott McTominay as the winner, beating champions like Diao (Como), Ndoye (Bologna), Ondrejka (Parma), Rovella (Lazio), Soulè (Roma).
"The six best players of the month have been selected taking into account the advanced analysis of Stats Perform, created from the tracking data recorded with the Hawk-Eye system.
"The rating system, patented in 2010 with K-Sport and scientifically validated, considers not only statistical data and technical events, but also positional data.
"This makes it possible to analyse crucial aspects such as movement without the ball and thus optimal movements, game choices, and the contribution to the technical and physical efficiency of the team, which allow for an objective and qualitative evaluation of the performance.

"For the final calculation matchdays 31 to 34 of Serie A 2024/2025 were considered."

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca issues blunt transfer statement after Crystal Palace draw

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was asked about the possibility of signing a new defender beffore the end of the month after the Blues' latest injury issue ahead of their Premier League opener Enzo Maresca offered a curt reply when asked about the prospect of signing a new defender following his side's goalless draw against Crystal Palace. The Italian refused to speak about the issue despite picking up another defensive injury in the build up to the Blues' first Premier League match of the season. ‌ Tosin Adarabioyo was the latest figure to make it onto Chelsea's injury list after he was expected to be the man to replace Levi Colwill in Maresca's starting XI. Colwill is expected to miss most of the season after undergoing surgery on an ACL injury picked up in training after the squad returned for pre-season. ‌ Against the Eagles, Chelsea's head coach opted to utilise 19-year-old defender Josh Acheampong in the heart of defence alongside Trevoh Chalobah. The academy star put in a strong performance on the way to a clean sheet but following Tosin's injury, the question over Maresca's defensive options remains. ‌ Speaking on Friday, the ex-Manchester CIty coach revealed that he wanted a new central defender but that the club would look to internal options. Maresca said: "I think we need a central defender. We are looking for an internal solution but as I said, the club know exactly what I think." But when the subject was broached at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Maresca had no interest in adding more fuel to the topic. "You like to talk about central defenders?" he asked the reporter. "I already spoke. Thank you very much." The Blues took just a point from their opening game as they failed to score in a Premier League home game for the first time in 2025. Maresca had some praise for Crystal Palace and is not panicking just yet about his side's performance. "Tough game, we expected a tough game," said Maresca. "Apart from the first half free-kick, we didn't concede any chances but they are a very good team. "We could have counter attacked better, we could have defended better but it is only the first game of the season." ‌ The Chelsea boss is unsure when Tosin will be available to him once again. "He had a physical problem, we don't know for how long," he said. "Wes [Fofana] was on the bench, but he was just on the bench to be with us. The plan was not to get any minutes. And now, hopefully for the next one, we can start to use Wes for more minutes." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Forgotten Man United star targeted by Serie A giants - as Ruben Amorim looks to raise transfer funds

Manchester United have opened talks with a Serie A club over a deal for Tyrell Malacia. The Red Devils have been looking to offload Malacia all summer, with the Dutch international one of the unwanted players placed into a 'bomb squad'. The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV, where he made 12 appearances across all competitions. Roma are now exploring the possibility of a deal and have held early talks with United about the conditions of a transfer. Malacia is understood to be open to the move as he looks to reignite his career in Italy. Malacia, joined United in 2022 as Erik ten Hag 's first signing following the manager's arrival at Old Trafford. The full-back moved from Feyenoord but has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League. After making 39 appearances in his debut season, Malacia missed the entire 2023-24 campaign due to injury. He returned to action last season and featured in eight matches before being loaned to PSV in the January window. Meanwhile, United winger Jadon Sancho is also the subject of interest from Roma. As first reported in Daily Mail's Transfer Confidential column on Tuesday, the Italians are the latest to discuss a potential loan and option to buy for the England international but United only want a permanent sale for the 25-year-old. Given Sancho's wages of £250,000-a-week, United would prefer a sale for a fee of between £20million and £25million.
