MUM CONFESSION Catherine Tyldesley admits she won't speak to kids for 'three days' when in 'work mode' on set
CATHERINE Tyldesley has admitted she can go "two or three days" without speaking to her kids when she is away filming.
The Good Ship Murder star, 41, shares her son Alfie, 10, and three-year-old daughter Iris with her husband Tom Pitfield and made the confession during a joint podcast.

Catherine said her career can be very "fast-paced" at times and take her abroad for long periods - such as when filming The Good Ship Murder.
The Channel 5 drama is shot on board a cruise ship in Malta and, while she is there, Tom is back in the UK with their children.
Catherine, who found fame in Coronation Street, said on the Behind The Brood podcast: "When I'm on set, being in Malta as much as I have been, a year-and-a-half in total if you join it all up. I'm OK, because it's very fast paced.
"A little bit like it was on Corrie. My head is firmly in work mode. I'm somebody else, I'm not me.

"But it's when I get back to that hotel in the evening and it's silent.. The bedtime routine, bath time, not being able sit on the bed and read Iris a book or chat to Alfie about how his day was.
"I know there's Zoom, which is wonderful, but it's not the same."
Tom said to his wife: "Some days we'll go two or three days without Zooming and that might seem mental to some people.
"The reality is, you'll sometimes want to ring Iris and she's too busy playing with her dollies."

Catherine added: "We feel like we know when the time is right and I'm often on a different time zone to you.
"When I'm filming on the cruise ship, that's a nightmare because the WiFi is all over the place and we skip from tome zone, to time zone.

"It is difficult and I always say to the other actors on set.. they're like, 'You alright, Cath? Are you missing your kids?' And I'm like, 'I just want to sniff them'.
"I just have this... you know when your arms go a bit funny because you just want to squeeze them and sniff their sweaty little heads."

Tom joked: "It's funny, as I just want to launch them out of the window some days!"
Catherine played Eva Price in Coronation Street from 2011 to 2018.
The star gave birth to Alfie in 2015 and she and Tom married the following year. They welcomed Iris in April 2022.
Tom is a photographer and co-founder of Brood magazine.

Shortly after Iris was born, Catherine landed her role as First Office Kate Woods in The Good Ship Murder.
This meant she had to go abroad when their daughter was only a few months old, which left Tom 'holding the baby'.
Speaking to Brood at the time, he said: "To be honest, with this job and how it just all happened so quickly, we didn't really have time to think.
"As soon as Cath walked out of the door to go the airport, I had that realisation that I've got to cook the tea now, whilst holding the baby and looking after a seven-year-old, and that's not going to change for the next three months.

"But you know what, we've done it before – albeit it was just me and Alfie then, so we've got an extra one this time, but we'll do it!"
He added: "We knew this was going to be our life whether we had one or two kids, or no kids, so we knew the deal when we first got together and we always said we would do everything as a team, so this is just the next adventure, and we'll complete it and move on.
"And we've got to just stay positive like that, as Cath's following her dreams and we support her, just like she supports me, so it's mutual respect.'
The Good Ship Murder, which also stars Shayne Ward, is set to return for a third series in 2026.

'Proudest of days!' Emmerdale legend reveals she is now 10 years sober

Emmerdale's Lisa Riley has shared a message on her social media confirming she has now been sober for 10 years. The beloved star is best known for her role as Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap. Lisa is very active on X and Instagram, often posting snippets of her life away from Emmerdale. Today, she shared a heartfelt post on both platforms that reveals she hasn't drunk alcohol for ten years. On Instagram, Lisa wrote in the caption: 'This momentous day today marks a milestone, which I'm insanely proud of. I would never have believed if you had said this to me years ago…as I poured another glass of Malbec…I'm 10 years sober today!!!' 'My life is the clearest, happiest, it's precious to me, REALLY precious, to have the clarity, the real, the genuine, no BS, just real, from the moment I wake up, until i fall asleep at night. 'Now fair enough I might not be for everyone (and that's absolutely fine) but I'm enough for me, because I don't hide behind alcohol, I don't lie that I'm happy attending something I don't want to be at, and the biggest, is leaving somewhere because I'm ready to leave, not tolerating nonsense. She added: 'I hid behind booze for so so so many years of my life, now I fly free, and I've never ever, ever felt better!!! Cheers everyone…….feels bloody ace!!!' Last year, ahead of her celebrating 9 years sober, Lisa spoke to Ranvir Singh on Lorraine about her decision to cut alcohol from her life: 'I'm going to be nine years sober,' she said. 'I just stopped drinking for the good and better for me, I prefer me. Ranvir asked: 'What was it for you if you don't mind me asking, that was like I don't want to do this anymore?' Lisa replied: 'I was self medicating. I know that with alcohol. I wasn't sleeping because I lost my mum, and I wasn't coping very well. 'A bottle and a half two bottles of Malbec helped completely in those times, I never thought that I'd be here now and I love it.' Lisa first rocked up on our screens as the feisty but loveable Mandy in 1995 before leaving the Dales six years later. Thankfully she reprised her role in 2019 and has been on our screens ever since. Mandy Dingle is married to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). They live at Tenants, and recently decided to let vulnerable homeless teenager Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) stay with them. Things got a bit awkward for Mandy though, as she walked into the house moments after Dylan had slept with his friend April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). April begged Mandy not to say anything to Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), but that really didn't last long. Mandy told Marlon, and gently helped him come to terms with that he's been struggling to accept his little girl isn't so little anymore. More Trending Elsewhere, Mandy's son Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is in the middle of a storyline that's seen him try and come to terms with his sexuality. Whereabouts of missing Coronation Street character ahead of star's re-cast

A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast. Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year. The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan. Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8. After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive. Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show. It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left. Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role. Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks. Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself. Harry's absence, due to the recast, was referenced on screen last night, with Sarah revealing that she'd sent him to holiday club. Harry was apparently unhappy with this arrangement, as all of his other friends have been on family holidays. Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt. The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington). As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of. Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze. In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her. Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital. Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016. Taking to Instagram last month, Grace shared her excitement at joining the ITV soap. Alongside several behind-the-scenes pictures, she wrote: 'I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!' She went on to thank her management saying: 'It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!). More Trending 'The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles,' she continued, before urging her followers to watch her first episodes. Lily is David Platt's only daughter, who he shared with Kylie Platt before she was tragically murdered in emotional scenes. View More » This article was originally published August 14, 2025. BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Vicky Pattison suffers painful health issue days into rehearsals and admits 'it's hard'

The Geordie Shore icon said "I feel like I've been hit by a car" as she said she's in a lot of pain just days into the gruelling practice routines. Strictly Come Dancing's Vicky Pattison has been left in major pain just days into rehearsals for the BBC dance show after her feet took a beating during the gruelling early practice routines. The Geordie Shore icon has been busy preparing for the new season of Strictly, which is set to return next month, however it's already not looking good as she showed off her injuries. ‌ The 37-year-old has taken to Instagram to share snaps of her feet in an agonising state after just one week of rehearsals. Uploading a snap of the back of her blistered pink heel, which looked worse for wear, she wrote: "And so it begins," along with a crying and laughing emoji. ‌ Vicky's cut up feet had fans feeling squeamish as she explained how she was feeling in a second upload, admitting that she felt like she had been "hit by a car". She wrote: "Our first @bbcstrictly rehearsal... The start of the day versus... the end. ‌ "It certainly was a baptism of fire lads... that's for sure! If I was doubting my ability before.. then I REALLY am now!!! Dancing is SO HARD!" Vicky went on to heap praise upon Strictly's professional dancing team as she exclaimed: "No wonder those pros are all drop dead gorgeous. I feel like I've been hit by a car and I've already got blisters.. WTF???" She added: "A serious newfound appreciation for everyone who's ever taken part! BUT... what an amazing day, the team are incredible, the celebs are so wonderful ,and the pros are an absolute joy. "If I hang around long enough... I think I'll really love my new family. I'm off to think about my life choices and apologise to all the fellas I stepped all over today!" ‌ Vicky's post came after Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn was announced as the 15th celebrity on this year's Strictly line up. The full line up of contestants for the upcoming series include former Love Island star Dani Dyer, actress Alex Kingston, EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, legendary footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, TikTokker George Clarke, Drag Race star La Voix, model Ellie Goldstein, and rugby star Chris Robshaw. ‌ They will also be joined by Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, also known as Nitro, The Apprentice contestant Thomas Skinner, Good Morning Britain's Ross King, Lioness Karen Carney and Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis. Meanwhile judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke are all returning to the panel for another year. Hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will also be reprising their roles. ‌ Strictly 2025 will come as the BBC programmes' 23rd series with the show set to return in September. The show's return comes after Strictly has just faced a fresh scandal after claims of cocaine use by two stars with reports suggesting their substance use was an open secret on the show. It follows a turbulent few years of controversial allegations including backstage bullying, misconduct claims and several stars being axed or suspended by the BBC as a result of their behaviour.
