Miley Cyrus is now allowed to perform songs from her Hannah Montana days.
The 32-year-old pop superstar famously broke away from the wholesome image she had created on the musical Disney Channel series when it came to an end in the early 2010s, and was forbidden to perform songs from its soundtrack until the corporation named her a Disney Legend.
Speaking on the Every Single Album podcast, she explained: "After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music.
"It's not like I wanted to. I mean, performing The Best of Both Worlds between We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball wouldn't have really made sense.
"But after being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool."
Hannah Montana followed the adventures of a schoolgirl who lived a double life as a world-famous pop star.
It ran for four seasons from 2006 until 2011 and a cinematic film was released in 2009.
Each season and the movie spawned a top-selling soundtrack featuring original songs, and The Best of Both Worlds Tour took place in 2007.
The Climb - which was featured in the final scene of Hannah Montana: The Movie and released under her own name - is the only track from the franchise that Miley has performed in recent years.
Upon her acceptance of the Disney Legend honour towards the end of last year, the Easy Lover hitmaker insisted that she was "proud" to have starred as the fictional pop star as she referenced a track from the initial soundtrack.
She said: "I had gotten a taste of what my life could be, and from that moment on, I did not want anything else.
"
"A little bit of everything has changed, ... but at the same time, nothing has changed at all.
"I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana."
"IIn so many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself, 'This is the life.'"

Miley Cyrus has revealed the one thing she used to lie to her accountant about when she was in her early twenties. The former Disney star, who shed her child star image by releasing a song called ' I Can't Be Tamed ', is opening up about that chaotic time in her life. Cyrus has been reflecting on her early twenties thanks to the release of her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful. The 32-year-old, who has been promoting her album, wearing see-through dresses, and doing the media rounds, appeared on The Ringer's Every Single Album podcast, where she said in 2015, she was taking drugs. 'The drugs were the biggest cost, which to hide those from my accountant, we called them vintage clothes,' she said. Cyrus admitted that her accountant had inquired about all these expensive vintage clothes she was buying. 'And every time she saw me, she'd be like, 'Where's that, like, $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs,'' she said. ''We just really want to protect it. It's really delicate, the fabric, got to take care of it'. So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year.' The 32-year-old said in reflection she doesn't have any regrets about that time in her life but she's also aware she was lucky to come out unscathed. 'I'm so glad I survived that time in my life. I would definitely not encourage anyone else to go this hard, but the fact that I got through it, I'm very glad I got to do it.' Cyrus has now been sober for years; she quit drinking in 2020 and stopped smoking marijuana around 2017. In a revealing interview with Zane Lowe, she said she's worked out that she needs to stay sober because she wants to wake up every day feeling her best. 'I've learned this about myself over the years. The sobriety is like, that's like my God. I need it, I live for it. I mean that it's changed my entire life,' she said. Cyrus has stressed in the past that she doesn't believe 'everyone has to be sober' but she has found it is what works for her. 'I don't have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make,' she said. 'I've just been wanting to wake up 100 per cent, 100 per cent of the time.'

Miley Cyrus didn't feel her Dua Lipa collaboration Prisoner was the right fit for her album Plastic Hearts. Amid the hot gossip that Miley shades Dua on the track Every Girl You've Ever Loved on her latest LP Something Beautiful, Miley has insisted she means no disrespect to her fellow pop star, but she didn't feel their collaboration worked on the 2020 glam rock album. Every Girl You've Ever Loved features the telling lyric: 'Speaks the perfect French/ She can dance the night away/ And still, she'll never break a sweat.' First of all, Dua speaks French on Charli xcx and Troye Sivan's Talk Talk remix, plus Dua has the song 'Dance The Night' from the Barbie soundtrack. "I guess the only thing I notice is when people are working too hard. I met Sabrina Carpenter a couple of times, and every time I see her I have the urge to ask her if she's OK. I'll see she's performing in Ireland, and then the next day she's doing a show in Kansas. And I'm like, 'I don't know how that could be physically OK,' because I was in that situation. "I know what it feels like to fry yourself, and I don't want anyone else to get fried."
