'This £12 inflating mascara from a beloved brand gave me a false lash effect in one coat'
For that exact reason, I, like so many others, have been committed to Maybelline's Lash Sensational Sky High for that limitless volume without feeling weighed down. However, I think I may have just found one that has stolen its crown.
The beloved high street brand recently dropped its Colossal Bubble Mascara that promises "nine times the volume in just one coat". New to buy for £11.99 at Superdrug, Amazon and Boots, I was instantly sold by its claims and budget price-tag.
Despite being one of the latest additions to the high street, this "inflating" mascara has already earned glowing reviews, with beauty fans on the Maybelline website who say it gives "great length and volume", without being heavy or going clumpy.
As someone who is a tad obsessed with new beauty finds, I decided to get my hands on Maybelline's latest invention to see if it was another winner for the brand.
A unique formula and comb brush for inflated lashes
I'll be honest, the first thing that attracted me to this mascara was its cute yellow packaging with adorable bubble writing that instantly transported me right back to the early '00s.
Trendy packaging aside, the product description says that it combines "breakthrough" bubble technology and an inflator comb brush that volumizes and separates the lashes at the same time, so it shouldn't be too heavy or cause clumps.
One of the interesting things I read was that the formula has been infused with collagen, a favourite in skincare, to give it that buildable and sleek volume, effectively creating a "bubble lash" effect in ever stroke.
I was also surprised at the shape of the applicator, as many mascara wands can be flexible and bendy. Instead, this one felt quite sturdy and less cheap, with the spiral-shape design boasting deep-cut bristles that "inflates 100 percent of the lashes from root to tip."
A false lash effect in just one coat
After quickly giving my lashes just one coat, I instantly had quite a few thoughts on the application.
First, my lashes immediately had that enviable curl that we all try to achieve with both mascara and a pair of curlers. Not only did offer an instant lift and definition, but it looked natural and didn't feel too heavy, which can often be the case with some others out there.
Not only did it give that coveted 'false lash effect' to my otherwise thin lashes, I also found that the rigidness of the inflator comb really helped to keep a steady application, which was a surprise as I didn't think I would like it.
Beauty deal of the week
Looking for last minute gift inspiration for dad ahead of Sunday, June 15.
Then don't fret, as we have you covered, as no-one can go wrong with a new bottle of cologne, and we have spotted Versace's The Dreamer for him Eau de Toilette for 67 percent less at Superdrug.
Hailed for being "underrated" and "truly unique", a large 100ml bottle of this fragrance has been dropped from £74 to £24, allowing you to make a huge saving of £50 and get in a thoughtful gift.
Described as "warm" and "fresh", Versace's Dreamer is an aromatic fragrance that, while belonging to the cologne family, is said to boast a variety of notes that make it suitable for both men and women.
The scent opens on vibrant notes of juniper, tarragon, and artemisia, before blending into heart notes of iris, lily and flax flowers to add a touch of softness. It then ends on a comforting base of tobacco blossom and amber, offering a smoky, luxurious finish.
The transparent, clear fragrance itself is housed in an opulent glass bottle that has been embossed with the iconic medusa logo, representing the luxury aesthetic of the iconic fashion house.
Versace's Dreamer EDT has managed to earn glowing reviews and a 4.6 rating from shoppers, with one saying: "Truly unique and dreamy fragrance. It's a great fragrance but it's underrated. Guys you have to try this one, it's great for all year round."
And someone else wrote: "Not to be overlooked. This is a lesser known Versace men's fragrance but oh my it is gorgeous ! Hubby loved it and amazing value for money."
Versace's The Dreamer For Him Eau de Toilette (100ml) can be bought for 67 percent less at Superdrug now.
However, I found that it really helped to properly lift right from the roots of the lashes without any accidental smudging, while each of my lashes managed to look effortlessly separated, instead of clumping together and feeling weighed down.
It is worth noting that, while I was a fan of the applicator brush, not everyone was. In fact, a few reviews on the brand's website that the fullness of the design means they have wipe excess off the brush, or it causes clumping or smudging for them.
Exagger-Eyes Mascara or Maxfactor's £15 False Lash Effect Supreme Recharge Mascara might be worth checking out as alternatives.
Overall verdict
With its cute packaging and ability to lift my lashes in just one coat without heaviness or clumping, I was instantly sold on Maybelline's Colossal Bubble Mascara.
As for me, I do prefer a natural look with my lashes, so one or two coats was enough for me, although the collagen-infused formula can offer a much more 'plumped' and 'dramatic' effect for those who'd maybe prefer that.
Another positive is that it stayed on all day without beginning to break down or smudge. Consider staying power is another must for me, this was just another positive to tick off the box.
As a self-obsessed Lash Sensational Sky High fan, dare I say that Maybelline has just launched a new contender for its crown?

Pierce Brosnan U-turns on a female Bond: ‘It has to be a man'
Pierce Brosnan has U-turned after previously saying James Bond should be played by a woman. The 72-year-old Irish actor has now said 007 'has to be a man', going back on comments he made previously. Brosnan, who played Bond in four movies between 1995 and 2002, wished Amazon well in its takeover of the franchise and said he is 'excited' to see the 'next man' take on the iconic role. The GoldenEye star discussed the next portrayal of 007 and told Saga magazine: 'Oh, I think it has to be a man.' This goes against remarks he made in 2019 when he told The Hollywood Reporter that a woman playing the next Bond would be both 'exciting' and 'exhilarating'. The MobLand star, who was the fifth actor to take on the role of the fictional secret agent, had said that it was time to 'put a woman up there'. But now, speaking of Amazon's takeover of the franchise, he said: 'I wish them well. 'I'm so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character. 'I adore the world of James Bond. It's been very good to me. It's the gift that keeps giving. 'And I'm just a member of the audience now, sitting back, saying: 'Show us what you're going to do'.' Dame Helen Mirren, 80, who is set to star alongside Brosnan in the new Thursday Murder Club film, also reiterated her previous opinion that the next Bond should be 'a guy'. The Oscar-winning actress told Saga: ' I'm such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy. You can't have a woman. It just doesn't work. 'James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else.' Aaron Taylor-Johnson, an English actor known for Kick-Ass, is among the favourites to succeed Daniel Craig and take on the iconic role. Other British stars like Idris Elba, Theo James and James Norton are also said to be contenders. Earlier this year, long-serving producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson – the daughter and stepson of original Bond producer Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli – announced they had ceded creative control of the franchise over to Amazon MGM Studios. The family had controlled the franchise since the first 007 film, Dr No in 1962. The £770 million deal sparked concern among fans who feared the UK franchise might lose its British identity and would lead to the 'Americanisation' of the films. There was also online speculation that Jeff Bezos' company would 'dilute' Bond and turn it into a media universe with multiple films and spin-off series like MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). In June, it was announced that Oscar-nominated film-maker Denis Villeneuve – known for Dune – will direct the next Bond film, which will be produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman. It was also announced earlier this year that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will write the script. Amazon has not given any hints on who will take over the 007 role after Daniel Craig announced he would be stepping down.

Little known designer perfume hailed for its "rich scent" 54% off at Debenhams
This perfume has been a "signature" scent for many since it launched in 1984. Nothing quite excites a beauty fan like a new bottle of perfume. Just one spritz of our favourite bottle is enough to change our mood for the entire day. While there is no shortage of choice on the market these days, there's something about coming back to an old favourite that has some of us consistently returning no matter how old it gets. For some shoppers, it's the Paloma Picasso Eau de Parfum that has been a staple since the '80s, and we know where this beloved, yet often little known, fragrance can be bought for over half-price. Debenhams is currently running its massive end of summer sale where a 50ml has been reduced from £54 to just £25, offering a 54 percent saving. Meanwhile, a larger 100ml can be bought for £40, down from £82, saving 51 percent overall. First launched in 1984 by renowned jewellery designer Paloma Picasso, daughter of artist Pablo Picasso, this chypre fragrance combines the elements of artistic self-expression defined by her father with her own sophisticated flair. Paloma Picasso Eau de Parfum, 50ml £54 £25 Debenhams Buy here Product Description Hailed as a "sultry" floral fragrance, it boasts notes of feminine notes of angelica, carnation and blossoming rose that are enhanced with Amalfi lemon and bergamot. Also offering aromas of jasmine, hyacinth and patchouli, alongside base notes of sandalwood, oak moss and musk, there's a reason it has been branded as a "signature" scent for many. Classic perfumes are often still in high demand, with another standing the test of time being Estee Lauder's Youth Dew, first launched during the 50s, that costs £19.45 for a 76ml on Amazon, down from £45. Another rare perfume that often gets rave reviews is Elizabeth Arden's White Linen Eau de Parfum that is available to buy from Marks and Spencer for £75 for a 60ml bottle. Meanwhile, Paloma Picasso's perfume remains a firm staple for many perfume fanatics, as it has earned a 4.5 rating from Debenhams shoppers who love its "rich scent" and have branded it a "signature" scent. One five-star review read: "Bought as a gift for my daughter who has used and loved this fragrance for many years and never gets tired of it. Beautiful packaging which looks quite luxurious which always matters when giving a gift." Said to be suitable for all skin types, even sensitive, this serum has been lauded for its "non greasy" texture that doesn't leave any residue on the skin or cause that dreaded 'pilling' when combined with other skincare products. Boasting a 4.3 rating in total, one review read: "A second satisfied customer said: "This serum is a game-changer! It leaves my skin feeling hydrated, smoother, and visibly radiant. A luxurious treat that's worth every drop." Don't miss Amazon's 53 percent discount on the Age Defying Serum Le Duo (30ml) that is now £17.95, down from £37.99. Brilliant value Will buy again. It's a real rich scent, lasts on clothes." The longevity has been met with some criticism, as one disappointed shopper said: "I've been using Paloma Picasso perfume for over 30 years. "This last one I purchased smells the same, but doesn't last like it used to. The manufacturer has weakened the strength of it in my opinion." Although, another pleased customer added: "Perfume from heaven when bought a good few years ago. I wanted to experience my 20/30s again and it didn't disappoint me. Love it still." Purchase the beloved Paloma Picasso Eau de Parfum in the Debenhams sale now.

Amazon shoppers swear by 'breath-taking' £20 scent that 'lasts a whole day'
'Every time I wear it, I feel confident, polished, and a little more myself. The bottle is gorgeous, too — a perfect reflection of the fragrance inside. A true gem in my collection' Amazon shoppers are flocking to buy a £21.99 perfume that they insist makes them feel confident. Khamrah by Lattafa is proving popular on shopping giant Amazon with it having over 25,000 ratings. Khamrah is quite spice forward, opening up with cinnamon and nutmeg which is brightened with bergamot. The heart is a warm blend of dates, praline, tuberose and mahonial. It rounds out with a warm base of vanilla, tonka bean, amberwood, myrrh, benzoin and akigalawood. This is a great option as autumn slowly approaches. For those who like the date note but want something sweeter then perhaps Lush's £28 Sticky Dates is worth checking out. Khamrah has been compared to Angel's Share by Kilian (£310) although while the packaging is similar there are not many overlapping notes. How to get Sol de Janeiro's new 'seductive' summer fragrance for under £9 Lorraine Kelly's makeup artist shares anti-ageing product from Boots for 'dewy' skin Khamrah has pulled in an average of 4.5 out of 5 from 25,343 global ratings. One shopper said: "The bottle is stunning—heavy, well-designed, and comes in premium packaging that feels high-end. Performance is excellent with long-lasting wear and strong projection. Perfect for evening wear or colder months, Khamrah is a standout choice for anyone who loves warm, sweet, and seductive scents without the designer price tag." Another insisted it boosted their mood, writing: "This perfume is simply breath-taking. The scent opens with a beautiful burst of freshness and gently melts into warm, sophisticated notes that linger all day. It strikes the perfect balance between subtle and noticeable — never too strong, but impossible to ignore. Every time I wear it, I feel confident, polished, and a little more myself. The bottle is gorgeous, too — a perfect reflection of the fragrance inside. A true gem in my collection!" The spices can be quite divisive, with one shopper saying: "I saw all the hype about Khamrah by Lattafa and decided to blind buy it. It's a really strong fragrance, but I didn't like it because the cinnamon was too much for me. If you love cinnamon, you'll probably enjoy it, but it's not my type. The first day I wore it, it was so strong that someone complimented me at night, even though I had sprayed it in the morning! The longevity is crazy. I ended up giving it to my friend, and she loves it." Another review commented on a booziness in Khamrah, that we often see noted in the more expensive Angel's Share people associate with the scent. They said: "The fragrance is sweet boozey and spicy and settles down after it dries down to a sweet and spicy fragrance. Absolutely love the longevity and projection. Easily lasts a whole day long on my skin. Great value for money."
