‘Tron: Ares' brings the Grid, and the light bikes, to Comic-Con
Disney turned the Hall H panel into a spectacle, with red lasers filling the room and characters in suits with red lights entering the massive hall.

Asked what excited her about joining the 'Tron' franchise, Lee responded: 'I just wanted to ride a light cycle.'

Leto spoke affectionately about the original saying: 'This movie just grabbed a hold of me and took me to a place that I'd never been before. It kind of rattled my imagination and it kind of showed me what was possible in the world.'
He praised Bridges and Steven Lisberger, who created 'Tron' and directed the 1982 original. Lisberger attended Friday's panel and laid out his case for why the franchise remains relevant.
'My feeling about 'Tron' is that the most important thing is we kick this technology around artistically before it kicks us around,' Lisberger said.
'I am weary about hearing all the grim news about the future,' he said, and the way he thinks it can be avoided is to 'inspire young people what can be done with this technology.'

Friday's panel ended with the premiere of the music video for 'As Alive as You Need Me to Be,' the first Nine Inch Nails song from the soundtrack.
'Tron' has never been in the top tier of sci-fi franchises. The original 1982 film starring Bridges as Kevin Flynn, a man sucked into a computer vortex known as the Grid, was admired for its ground-breaking concept and effects, and was a modest hit with moderately good reviews.
Perhaps more importantly, it won a cult following and has been maintained enough in cultural memory to remain a valuable property for Disney.
The 2010 film 'Tron: Legacy,' starring Bridges and Garrett Hedlund, made more than $400 million globally. A TV show that followed, 'Tron: Uprising,' lasted just one season.
Rønning has helmed other Disney franchise films: 2017's 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' and 2019's 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.' The Norweigan director said he was interested because he dreamed about making a sci-fi film and enjoyed the twist of 'Ares' bringing the Grid into the real world.
Leto and Bridges are both Oscar winners, and Rønning is an Oscar nominee.

Adam Sandler Honors Cameron Boyce In Happy Gilmore 2
In July 2019, Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce tragically died in his sleep at the age of 20, with his cause of death later being confirmed as a seizure related to his epilepsy. Cameron made his feature film debut at just 9 years old, when he starred in the horror movie Mirrors, which was released in 2008. However, he arguably got his big break with Disney, where he starred in the popular series Jessie, which aired between 2011 and 2015. He also starred in the Descendants movie franchise, where he played Carlos De Vil, with the third film marking Cameron's final performance before his tragic death. At the time of his passing, Cameron had been cast in Adam Sandler's movie Hubie Halloween, but filming hadn't yet started — and Adam was one of the celebrities who was left devastated by the star's sudden death. 'Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around,' Adam wrote on Instagram at the time. 'Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world.' 'Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way,' he went on. 'All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.' For reference, Adam had cast Cameron in Hubie Halloween after working with him on Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 years earlier, where the young actor had played his son, Keithie Feder. And Adam was sure to honor Cameron when Hubie Halloween was released in October 2020, with the movie including a heartfelt end-credit dedication to the star that read: 'In loving memory of Cameron Boyce... Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.' Fast-forward almost five years, and people noticed that Adam paid subtle tribute to Cameron yet again, this time in his movie Happy Gilmore 2, which was released on Netflix on Friday. In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in one of the film's early scenes, Cameron can be seen on a CRT TV that is playing an episode of Jessie. He is the only character from the show to feature in the chosen clip. Needless to say, fans have been left touched by this sweet gesture from Adam, and have praised how proactive he has been in keeping the late star's memory alive all these years later. 'Adam put a tiny Cameron Boyce (played his son in Grown Ups) tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. 'We all know that planning your Disney outfit is an essential part of your trip,' said the stylish sightseer from the UK, adding that if you don't follow the rules, 'you might be shown the exit.' Advertisement Earning the top spot on Sophie's steer-clear gear roster are costumes. 'At Disneyland Paris, costumes are only allowed for guests 12 and under,' she explained. 'Disney is not a cosplay convention. It's an outerwear veto that's universal at most of Mr. Mouse's venues. Phoebe Parsons, a self-crowned 'Disney Adult' — overgrown brand buffs — threw a mini fit after learning she couldn't wear a cartoon-inspired 'fit to a recent Disney on Ice show. Advertisement 'Honestly, it just felt like a bit of the magic got gatekept,' she recently whined online. 'Do I think adults should be able to dress up with their kids? Within reason, yes. If a mom or a big sister wants to wear a matching Elsa cape, why not? It's harmless fun,' the millennial argued. 'The world's heavy enough, let people do things that fill them with joy. Even if it's wearing a tiara at 35.' 4 Grown-up Disney fanatics have groaned over the brand's rules barring them from wearing costumes. Rather than don a traditional costume, the rule-benders copy the color schemes, jewelry preferences and hairstyles of their favorite animated characters, such as Snow White and Princess Tiana, as a sneaky way to circumvent expulsion. But 'bounders' beware — wearing certain paraphernalia could also land you on Disney's 'no-go' list. 'If you've got something really graphic or offensive or just awful, you're gonna need to cover that up,' said Sophie.
