'Squid Game' Season 3 dominates global Netflix charts
The dystopian social satire garnered 60.1 million views in its first three days -- a record number -- and topped the streaming charts for the week of June 23-29. Season 3 outpaced its nearest competitor, the Spanish series Olympo, by nearly a tenfold margin.
Squid Game Season 3 ranked No. 1 in all 93 countries where Netflix keeps top 10 lists, the streamer said in a press release, making it the first show to achieve the distinction in its debut week.
The renewed interest in the series also brought its two previous seasons back onto the top 10 chart, with Season 2 appearing at No. 3 and Season 1 placing at No. 6.
The original season introduced the world to protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and his quest to survive a deadly series of children's games for a massive cash prize. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk's series became a global phenomenon and remains Netflix's most-viewed show of all time.
Season 3's critical response has been generally positive, if more muted than the debut season. UPI's Fred Topel said the final six-episode arc is "still loaded with surprises" as it brings the saga of Gi-hun and the deadly game to its conclusion.
Netflix has capitalized on the show's popularity with commercial tie-ins and live events worldwide. In Seoul, nearly 40,000 people attended a parade and fan event on Saturday, with the show's iconic pink guards and its giant doll Young-hee marching past downtown's Gwanghwamun Square. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, stars Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun and cast members from all three seasons appeared at an outdoor festival that served as a final celebration of Squid Game.

3 great Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (August 22-24)
If you've ever scrolled through Netflix for more than five minutes, you might be one of many people who suffer from a particular kind of decision paralysis when it comes to the streaming service. While Netflix has plenty of stuff to watch, the challenge can come when you have to choose one thing in particular. We've done that part for you and pulled together three great Netflix movies that are worth checking out now. These movies come from wildly different genres, but each one of them will leave you satisfied, assuming you're in the right mood to engage with them. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video. Daughters (2024) One of the most moving documentaries of the past five years, Daughters tells the story of a group of young daughters who work to form bonds with their incarcerated fathers in anticipation of a daddy-daughter dance. A tender, open-hearted movie that never judges its subjects, Daughters will leave you deeply emotional. Witness these young girls rise to the occasion far beyond their years to display pride for themselves and for the fathers who wish they could be more present in their lives. You can watch Daughters on Netflix. Apollo 13 (1995) One of the best movies crafted about space, Apollo 13 tells the harrowing true story of the astronauts who faced technical problems with their shuttle 1,000 miles off the Earth's surface. As they use creative problem-solving skills to survive, those on the ground navigate every challenge they face and try to make sure they can stay warm enough and sane enough to follow instructions. Anchored by Tom Hanks at the peak of his powers, Apollo 13 is also one of Ron Howard's finest achievements as a director. You can watch Apollo 13 on Netflix. The Departed (2006) The movie that finally earned Martin Scorsese his Oscar, The Departed is actually an adaptation of the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs. The sprawling story follows a cop who is undercover inside the Boston mob and a mole from the mob who is buried inside the police department. As the two investigate each other, they get lost in their work while chasing after the same woman. Featuring terrific performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Jack Nicholson, The Departed goes hard, and that's part of why it's become so beloved. You can watch The Departed on Netflix.

'KPop Demon Hunters' Fans Are Losing It Over This Epic Snack Collab
'KPop Demon Hunters' Fans Are Losing It Over This Epic Snack Collab originally appeared on Parade. The way in which the Netflix hit KPop Demon Hunters so smoothly and surreptitiously took over pop culture since it premiered in June should be studied by entertainment execs everywhere. Not just an animated movie for kids—the music, the characters, literally everything about it is so catchy and fun. It kind of reminds me of the High School Musical phenomenon of 2007. But it seems like the powers that be weren't completely prepared for the movie's instant popularity, because KPop Demon Hunters merch has been slow to roll out. However that's all about to change, because the movie has a branded collab with an iconic food brand and it all makes so much sense. 🍳 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & fun food news in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter 🍳 Whether you've watched KPop Demon Hunters once or 1,000 times (guilty!) you know that the film's leading ladies, demon-hunting KPop group Huntr/x, love to snack, particularly on instant noodles. So it only makes sense that the movie has a collab with Nongshim, a South Korean food company known for their noodles and snacks. Later this month, the company will release limited-edition KPop Demon Hunters Shin Ramyun, Shrimp Crackers and the soon-to-be-released Shin Toomba Sauce. The packaging will feature Rumi, Mira and Zoey, as well as the formidable Saja Boys and message-delivering Derpy. The goodies are being shipped out globally with a focus on Korea, North America, Europe, Oceania, Southeast Asia and Mexico. But what I personally think is the most fun will be the special edition of Shin Ramyun that's designed to look exactly like those wolfed down by Rumi, Mira and Zoey in the movie. Unfortunately for Stateside fans, that product will only be available in Korea. Womp, Fans Are Saying The excitement around this limited-edition launch is intense. People can't wait to get their hands on these snacks. And, in fact, they're wondering what took so long. "Finally!," said someone on Instagram. "I haven't even seen the movie yet but I was expecting this to happen, and I was surprised it's taking them so long." Another person quipped, "Would buy the Derpy shrimp chips just for the packaging." Still others think there's a missed product opportunity here, and they're right. "No Soda Pop?" they asked, referring to the Saja Boys' infectious hit. For me, I'm a little bummed Sussy, the six-eyed magpie, isn't getting any love. At least throw him on some packaging with Derpy. Perhaps there will be justice for Sussy if there's a second drop to this fun collab.'KPop Demon Hunters' Fans Are Losing It Over This Epic Snack Collab first appeared on Parade on Aug 20, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 20, 2025, where it first appeared.
