‘Create in India Challenge' participants at WAVES to get jobs and career help

NEW DELHI: The Centre is working on a comprehensive roadmap to help the participants of the 'Create in India Challenge', a highlight of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), secure employment and career opportunities. This initiative signals a strong push to nurture creative talent in sectors such as animation, comics, AI, extended reality, gaming, and music in India.
The government will be holding discussions with leading industry associations and organisations, which hosted 32 challenges covering a wide range of disciplines including animation, filmmaking, gaming, music, and visual arts in the run up to the event.
During the inaugural edition of WAVES in May, around 750 finalists were invited to exhibit their projects and skills at 'Creatosphere', a specially designed platform to highlight cutting-edge innovation and creativity in India's media and entertainment landscape.
'A roadmap is being worked out to ensure the winners of CIC get gainful employment or regular jobs. The government will help them to showcase or sell their content. It will be checked whether Intellectual property (IP) rights can be generated for their content. The efforts are also being made to see if the companies can offer them employment opportunities,' said sources.
According to the industry representatives, the initiative will take WAVES to the next level as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi. Comparing the WAVES to global events, Modi termed it a great opportunity to showcase India's creative talent to the world.
Some have also suggested nominating brand ambassadors for the Summit expected to be held in February and start a fellowship programme focused on expanding its reach and impact. Though the discussions are at nascent stage, one of the few possibilities to showcase creative talent of CIC winners is to arrange their participation in international events like roadshows.
'To build excitement, several smaller state-level related events can be organised. They can be permanent verticals of the WAVES. Suggestions are also being sought from associations and industry on how to boost their confidence,' said sources.
The flagship initiative of WAVES, the CIC garnered significant traction nationwide and globally, with 32 challenges, including Truth Tell Hackathon, Comics Creator Championship, Esports Tournament, Trailer Making Competition and Anime Challenge for which the ministry of information and broadcasting (I&B) received nearly one lakh registration including over 1,100 international entries from 60 countries.

Trump's Truth Social crashed moments after he announced strikes on Iranian nuclear strikes

Trump's social media platform Truth Social faced disruption across US soon after he posted about strikes on Iranian nuclear sites read more US President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform suffered a major outage early Sunday (June 22), moments after he announced the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Downdetector reported that thousands of users faced problems and experienced server issues while trying to access the social media platform on both Windows and mobile phones. The platform crashed soon after Trump posted this: 'We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran's airspace. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home." STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In a separate post, Trump wrote: 'Fordow is gone", referring to the underground nuclear facility near Natanz. The strikes followed the deployment of B-2 stealth bombers to Guam earlier on Saturday. In announcing the operation, President Trump confirmed that B-2 bombers executed the attacks, calling it a 'historic moment' for the US, Israel, and the global community, stressing that the strike was a critical step in addressing the ongoing regional crisis. What caused Truth Social to crash? Some screenshots posted by users showed that API (Application Programming Interfaces) congestion may have caused the disruption. It's a situation when the volume of requests being sent to an API exceeds its capacity to handle them efficiently, causing drop in performance quality. Simply put, it's a traffic jam for API requests. Despite Trump's massive popularity and following on all other social media platforms, he exclusively uses his Truth Social for making announcements and posts on issues of national and international importance. His stake in Truth Social's parent company TMTG has earned him a significant portion of his net worth. Just a few days back, the platform urged its users to following Trump by sending them an email. 'If you aren't following President Donald J. Trump on Truth Social, you're missing an essential resource for navigating world affairs today,' the e-mail read.

What is the PM Modi quote in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par'?

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par arrived in cinemas on June 20, but not without a set of last-minute, government-mandated changes — chief among them, has been the inclusion of a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the opening credits. Cleared for release by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on June 17, the film faced a delay in certification until producers complied with five specific edits. The most prominent directive was to feature the Prime Minister's message as part of the film's opening disclaimer. The quote reads: 'In 2047, when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Independence, our divyang friends will be seen as an inspiration to the whole world. Today, we have to be determined towards achieving this goal. Let us all build a society where no dream or goal is impossible, only then we will be able to build a truly inclusive and developed India.' The terminology itself has sparked debate. The term 'divyang,' coined by Modi in 2015 to refer to persons with disabilities, has been widely criticised by disability rights groups, who have argued that it glosses over real struggles with euphemism and strips away all complexity. Despite sustained opposition and formal petitions to government bodies, the term remains in official use. Beyond the quote, the CBFC ordered several other changes. A visual and subtitle containing the word 'kamal' (lotus) — also the symbol of the ruling party — was removed. 'Business woman' was changed to 'business person,' and a 30-second disclaimer at the start was shortened to a 26-second voiceover. The word 'Michael Jackson' in subtitles was swapped with 'Lovebirds.' The revisions were recommended by a CBFC revising committee led by theatre director Waman Kendre, after the examining committee reviewed the initial cut. Neither CBFC chairperson Rajendra Singh nor Kendre commented on the rationale behind the directives. The unusual nature of these changes, especially the inclusion of a political quote, has drawn criticism. Critics argue that inserting political messaging into cinema, particularly under certification pressure, sets a worrying precedent for creative freedom. Sitaare Zameen Par is the official Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, and is presented as a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film follows a basketball assistant coach (played by Khan) sentenced to community service, who finds himself coaching a team of neurodivergent basketball players adults. The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh.
