Work That Speaks for Itself
Actor Vaani Kapoor , who entered Bollywood over a decade ago, recently spoke about the discrimination she faced early in her career. Despite having no film industry connections, she made her debut with Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013 and has since worked in several high-profile films. But her journey, as she revealed was marked by industry bias and judgment—not for her talent, but for her appearance. In a conversation with News18 Showsha, one of the most revealing moments Kapoor shared was being dropped from a film because of her skin tone. The decision came from a filmmaker who believed she wasn't 'milky white' enough to suit the role. Though the comment didn't come directly to her, she heard about it through others in the industry.Rather than letting the remark affect her self-worth, Vaani decided to set her own standards. She recalled telling herself that if fairness was a criterion, she would rather not be part of such a project. She added that the filmmaker in question was not based in Mumbai and that the incident happened early in her career.Even today, Vaani continues to face scrutiny—this time for her body type. She shared that she often hears comments suggesting she is too skinny and should gain weight, reflecting another persistent stereotype in the industry about the ideal female body type. Despite the remarks, she maintains a positive outlook, saying she feels fit and healthy, and doesn't see any reason to change herself. She admitted that while some comments might come across as advice or concern, she prefers to stay true to who she is rather than conform to external expectations.Over the years, Vaani Kapoor has steadily built her filmography with roles in movies like Befikre, War, Bell Bottom, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Khel Khel Mein, and Raid 2. She is now preparing for her digital series debut with Mandala Murders, a Netflix crime thriller set in a mysterious town called Charandaspur. The show, co-directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, follows detectives unraveling a series of ritualistic murders linked to a secret society. Kapoor plays Rea Thomas, a determined investigator. The series also stars Surveen Chawla, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Jameel Khan, and is scheduled to premiere on July 25.

Kannappa OTT release date: With Akshay Kumar as Mahadev, Vishnu Manchu's Telugu movie to start streaming online on…
Vishnu Manchu's film Kannappa was released in theatres on June 27. It got a mixed response at the box office. During promotions, Vishnu said he didn't sell streaming rights early. He wanted to wait and see how the film performed. Now, reports claim that the Kannappa OTT release date has been finalised. As per 123Telugu, the mythological action drama is likely to stream on Amazon Prime Video from July 25. However, an official confirmation is still pending. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The supporting cast includes Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohanlal, Mohan Babu and Akshay Kumar, who plays Mahadev in the movie. Vishnu Manchu stars as Kannappa, a Mahadev devotee. Preity Mukhundhan plays the female lead after Nupur Sanon had left due to dates. Sarathkumar and Madhoo also star in the movie. Mohanlal and Prabhas appear in cameo roles as Kirata and Rudra. Mohan Babu has produced the film under Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures. The music is composed by Stephen Devassy. If the release date is correct, Kannappa will join many Telugu films that have had their OTT releases within a month of premiering in the theatres. This trend helps films reach more viewers quickly after cinema shows end. People who missed watching it in theatres will be able to enjoy it from home. This move may also boost the film's popularity online. Many Telugu films in 2025 have followed a fast OTT release pattern. Nani's action thriller Hit: The Third Case was released in theatres on May 1. The movie became available on Netflix on May 29, within four weeks. Made with ₹ 65 crore, it barely broke even with ₹ 120 crore at the box office. Netflix, however, paid ₹ 54 crore for digital rights, as per reports. Sarangapani Jathakam hit theatres on April 25 and started streaming on Amazon Prime Video by May 23, also within a month. Jack, featuring Siddu Jonnalagadda, was released in cinemas on April 10 and was out on Netflix by May 8. Similarly, Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi was released on April 18 and started streaming on Prime Video on May 16.

Great Indian Kapil Show pushed out of Netflix's global top 10 amid declining ratings; previous seasons suffered similar fate
Kapil Sharma's comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show debuted on Netflix amid much hype in 2024. After years of generating strong ratings on Colors and then Sony, Kapil Sharma moved with his team on the streaming service and Netflix presented it as a move in the right direction suggesting that this will broaden their audience spectrum in India. The shopw remains one of Netflix's most watched in India but after three seasons, the ratings have shown a decline. This season, the show has already had five episodes so far. While the first three episodes of the season made it to 'Global Top 10 Non-English Shows', the last two episodes have not made it to the list. The latest episode of Kapil's show featured the team of Son of Sardaar 2, which included Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra among others. The one before that, featuring Jaideep Ahlawat, Pratik Gandhi, Vijay Varma and Jitendra Kumar, also did not make it to the list. The opening episode of the third season, featuring Salman Khan, got 1.6 million views and had 1.9 million hours viewed. It needs to be mentioned here that the number of views does not mean that these are the number of viewers. As per Netflix, the views are calculated by 'total hours viewed divided by runtime.' The second episode, featuring the cast of Metro In Dino, got 2 million views but these views did not solely belong to the second episode. These were the cumulative number of views for the first two episodes during the show's second week. The independent number of views for this episode were not declared by Netflix. After the third episode, featuring cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Yuzvendra Chahal, Netflix claimed that the cumulative views for the three episodes was at 1.2 million views. The number of episodes kept increasing but the views kept decreasing. And now, the show is not among Netflix's global top 10. As per the latest data shared by Netflix, the last spot on the list is occupied by the show Better Late Than Single, which has garnered 1.4 million views in two weeks. After the first four episodes, the show's views declined significantly and it got pushed out of the 'Top 10' list. The fourth episode featured Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor. The cumulative views of the first four episodes, during its fourth week, stood at 900k with 4.2 million hours viewed. The first three episodes in this season featured Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Jr NTR, Rohit Sharma among others. Even during the show's first season, a similar thing happened as the show got pushed out of the 'Top 10' list after its fourth episode featuring Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal. In its fourth week, the show's four episodes had cumulative viewership of 1.2 million views with 3.9 million hours viewed. The Great Indian Kapil Show's next episode will see content creators like Raj Shamani, Saurabh Dwivedi, Kamiya Jani, Samdish Bhatia as guests.
